This topic is pointless... As CC said there is no way to get PC version of TLaD. It became just another "GTA IV PC is a sh*tty port" thread.

The way I see it, is that it's amazing that GTA IV made it to PC, let alone any expansion packs.

 

Just looking at the drama on these forums regarding the PC release - reaching sometimes totally illogical and irate rants at Rockstar Games - I could hardly blame Rockstar for not wanting to go through the pain barrier of a GTA PC version ever again.

 

With a console, you have a fixed platform - everyone has the same hardware.

With a PC, you have a myriad of differing hardware configurations.

 

PC gaming isn't dead, but it certainly isn't the powerhouse it once was.

 

Consoles are where it's at and I highly doubt we'll see another GTA or expansion pack on PC in the future.

You can't really compare the two crowds reactions.Console gamers don't have to put up with these kind of problems that we are experiencing.They got their game about a year ago with minimal frame rate problems,and less hassle.Believe me,when a console fanboy get's angry,you don't want to be there.LOL i got this game to work after 24 hours.And i'm riding legit.

Maybe we will get TLAD and the 2nd DLC later on. Remember that Microsoft owns the exclusivity for the Xbox 360, but they only did that to boost the sale of GTA IVs and Xboxs. And sure they did it right...

 

Still let's have a look at the PC version: pretty much everything we have there is because of Microsoft... the achievements, the Games for Windows LIVE thing, the fact that the online is played because of Microsoft, etc. They're even adding a LIVE Marketplace for the PC just like they did for the Xbox, so I think they're trying to get together the PC players, and the better thing they can do is "own" companies like Rockstar and make them produce their games according to LIVE. If you check, GTA IV is one of the few games that has achievements, while almost all or all Xbox games have them.

 

We're in better position of receiving this DLC than PS3 players are, that's for sure. I'm just guessing, of course, but we have some chances of getting it later on. The 2nd DLC will probably be released in 2010, so we might have a port in 4/6 months, and be able to play it in later 2010 or the beginning of 2011.

 

Oh and btw, the PC version of GTA IV sold bad because we all saw the great work Rockstar Toronto did with the port. I was about to get the game as soon as it was released, and after reading about all the missing textures problems and others, I was already thinking about downloading the game, test it and then buy it. I know lots of people to didn't even buy, just downloaded because of that. If the game had come out with a better optimization, then the sales would have been bigger.

So its not wrong pointing it out for what we see..where is Gears of war 2 for the PC? Where is Halo 3 for the PC? where is PGRs and Halo Wars?

Theres not even Forza games on the PC..

 

If microsoft sees that PC downsales are caused by Piracy..I Totally Disagree..Piracy was alive even before the Next Generation (360,PS3) consoles are out. Piracy was even in the Ms-Dos games time. But why, at that point of time..No Developers, Publishers and even Microsoft Complain about Piracy?

Not until Xbox 360 is out, then only they started blaming PC sales is bad due to piracy..

 

Well here's my opinion why...stop PORTING GAMES TO PC and START PORTING GAMES FROM PC INSTEAD!! Do Great exclusivity for the PC instead..

why gamers starts to play Console games more than PC? its because there's no troubleshooting at all are needed to be made to play the games...

Pc on the other hand have many issues..to be honest...These issues are being kept at the minimal before Xbox 360 is out..I hardly had any problems playing games on PC back in the old days besides normal crashes..

 

Please Developers!! stop blaming Piracy saying that it is the one that causes PC to fall...and thats because Xbox 360 has piracy as well! So? whats the difference..trust me...Piracy will live forever no matter what! But its all up to us to consider...

 

Piracy in the windows 95 time are more easy to pick up and play compared to now! theres no Crack last time. theres no Image/.iso and stuffs like that.

Hell theres not even a CD key for any games u purchased..so now since there are securom, DRM and Starforce or whatever..i dont see any reasons why the Publishers are still blaming Piracy..

If these Protection System can't stop Piracy..then why bother using it?? Right?

Well..at least GTA IV port is not as bad as Saints Row 2...which i am sure that most of us here have at least completed the game once,am i right to say so? so overall its still playable..console suffers from framerate hiccups as well..so the bottom line is..why not port games from PC to Console from now onwards?

 

Make a crappy Port games to Consoles..and we'll see whether their games will still sell after that...Push all the DLCs to PC...Push all the Gears of war series to PC, and start doin Exclusives PC Hyped games..

Just like what F.E.A.R 1, Half-Life 2, Call of duty 2, Dark Messiah Might and Magic did..(Look at how their games look and play like on the console counterparts, its not the best experience)

 

Then from there we'll see how the console run a PC game...

I just wish that Crysis is out for Xbox360..i wonder if there will be any complains when playing the game on the console if Crytek were to straight port the game to 360/PS3.

 

So that is what happening to the PC side now...Microsoft have been promoting their 360 like a Diamond in the sky, while they are not doin anything much for the PC..and that is why the sales keep on going down and down..

That is what i was wondering.F.E.A.R. was developed on the PC and then ported to consoles.The console gamers were outraged that the console version was far inferior to the PC version graphically.Now.The Monolith developers said that BECAUSE OF PIRACY,a console will be the main developing platform.Thus Project Origin was developed on the Xbox 360 and ported to the PS3 and the PC.What did we get?The PC version is still superior visually BUT the gameplay and other parts got dumbed down to match console standarts.Now,my question is:HOW DID THIS AFFECT THE SALES?Piracy is still here,and they lost fans of the original F.E.A.R.(myself included)What did they accomplish with this?They just turned F.E.A.R.(A horror game) into a regular action-shooter with slowmo.

 

And about Crysis:You wouldn't get the same game.Consoles do not have enough RAM for that task.If they wanted to bring Crysis to the consoles they would have to lower the view distance,LOD,make the levels smaller so basically they would have to make a totally different game for the consoles.No doubt,the consoles could run Crysis,but at what quality?And i wouldn't wait for Crysis.2009.02.17:"Our internal focus is not linked to bringing Crysis to consoles," says Yerli.

I agree with you Dcrysis2..I owned F.E.A.R on PC..because back at that time..it was one of the beautiful games out there in the market..but now when i look at F.E.A.R 2, it doesn't impress me anymore even with everything cranked up to the max..i felt that the game is limited..and is not pushing the PC side that much as it had with FEAR 1..hell it doesnt even Support Mouse Button 4 and 5 or EAX option anymore..but FEAR 1 did...

 

About crysis..well its jsut a point that i wanted to point out..true enough they will need to tone down the game to make it run on console..but what if they do a straight port? I'm sure no xbox 360 owners would wanna play a crappy port game that can't even run on their console..So what happened when they see Crysis runs bad? they wont buy it..

So my point is..why arent people buying PC games much now? its because developers do a crappy Port for PC and makes the game as the same or even worst than the quality of the console has..

 

So why should we buy PC games when these games are all ported from console? i think thats the main reason why PC sales are going down and down now..its because PC games get a half baked games from Consoles!!!

Microsoft is such bullsh*t... why would they pay so much money just to have it an xbox exclusive. Yes i realize it is so that they can be greedy f*ck farts and eat money for breakfast but they only hurt the entire gaming industry and piss off anyone who doesn't own a lame ass xbox. if they'd save their money then the people will buy it for which ever platform the so choose i doubt many people will be persuaded to change to a different platform just to play this game. a small degree might own the game on all 3, xbox, ps3 and pc and then be force to get it on xbox, ok fine. but i imagine the majority have already made their choice and only own the game on one platform and would have to have a large nail through their head to be tricked in this way into buying the game on xbox and then subsequently the expansion as well and in some cases have to buy and xbox 360 itself in order to do that. i really doubt that $50 million worth of games will be sold because it is a xbox exclusive. yes people can only buy it on xbox but the people who own xbox 360 would already be buying it on xbox if they were going to buy it at all. my point is i play on pc and there is now way in hell i would go out and buy an xbox 360, gta 4 and the expansion just to play it. instead they lost at least one sale on pc and spend $50 million in the process and also pissed me off, giving me one more reason to hate microsh*t.

As much as i want TLAD for pc i know there wont be one. Its xbox exclusive and MS PAID for it... stop saying that it isnt fair because it is... its just like when you buy something from the supermarket. You get the product and leave the money.

 

And i dont really see the fuss about it its just a DLC not even a stand alone game. Go see some videos on youtube and youll get bored of it in no time. Still i wouldnt mind owning it so i voted yes.

 

Piracy will always exist no matter of the protection there will always be a way to crack it. The poor sailes of GTA4 on PC is because its a sh*tty port and like someone above said i would have bought the game if it was coded corectly. Instead i downloaded and played it...
