Grand Theft Auto: Cheyenne

Sorry to bump, but I really think this is an awesome draft. Cheyenne sounds like an awesome city. Colorado would work excellent for the next GTA. Denver is a pretty small city, but could still work. I think people enjoyed SA so much because it had a little something for everybody. You could be in downtown LS one minute, and blueberry the next. Plus it would be awesome to have snow in GTA. rolleyes.gif

As for a female character, I believe it could work. She would have to be pretty cool. I'm not to sure about her backround. She sounds too ordinary. She would have to be extraordinary. Perhaps a dangerous past? Murder in her past? Sadly, I doubt we'll see a female character anytime soon.

Overall, a brilliant draft. cookie.gifcookie.gifcookie.gif

I think it's a good thing we have a ordinary character for once. That's how you would make a female character work.

Bob, I have to agree. More I think about it, the more I feel that a female character would be worth a shot. Just as long as there isn't any boyfriends. barf8bd.gif I wouldn't mind giving up Hookers and strippers. Only if it meant there would be more disk space for more cars, more missions, aircraft, bigger city, casino's, etc. I can definitely live without the annoying girlfriends, and friends. bored.gif

I would like to see some Native American characters. That would be interesting.

EDIT: misspellings

I actually live in Colorado Springs, and you're description of it is spot on!

Very conservative, lots of military, and high tech industry, lot's of annoying patriotism... They have like, rednecks living right next door to Mexican immigrants too- it's really bazaar.

Beautiful scenery of nearby forests and of course mountains, virtually no mass transit -everyone takes the highway in their big SUVs.

Lots of religious groups who were Bush supporters - not that it really matters.

And then Denver is like the exact opposite of CS. There's some hardcore gangstas that you swear could only come out of LA...

Lots of rednecks mixed in with an ever rising Latino population - that's how I'd describe Colorado - perfect example of Middle America.

Plus they have some forests tucked in those mountains that feel ripped right out of Oregon/Pacific Northwest/Northern California.

And yeah - the eastern half is pretty much just flat land.

PM me if you want more examples.

How 'bout a banner?

<snipped for space>

Wow, that is a very nice logo! It gets across the "middle America" theme really well. I just put it up as the official banner. Thanks! Wish I had the talent to make stuff like that.

I think it's a good thing we have a ordinary character for once. That's how you would make a female character work.

That was my intention. I wanted to put the spotlight on an ordinary person for once -- something that lends itself nicely to a female protagonist. Someone who's been caught up in something much bigger than herself, and doesn't have any idea what to do. Having to kill people to survive is going to utterly destroy Amanda's sanity, which winds up playing a huge role in the game.

I didn't like the friend feature either. I'd prefer it if friendships were built through doing missions for people, not going out with them. Especially since, in a map six times the size of Liberty City, it's not gonna be easy to drive that far in one hour to pick up Lucy or Ice-9 and go bowling. It just means more room for the parts that really matter.

Nice to know that I got it right. Especially since all that I've gleaned of life west of the Appalachian Mountains has come from TV and movies.

You brought up a good point with the lack of mass transit. It means that there will be more driving in this game. The only public transportation that I envisioned was Greyhound buses and cabs (which you have to call; they don't appear normally) out in the rural areas, and possibly some light rail and city buses in Fremont and Rockfall.

Plus, I have big plans for the Christian fundies. I've already got a corrupt televangelist, an "ex-gay" (read: back in the closet) politician, and a parody Christian rock station, and I have some ideas floating around regarding a Jesus Camp-type place (no kids, of course -- this is a GTA game, after all) and a Christian rock concert. Beyond the Christian Right stuff, I'm also thinking about making reference to anti-tax tea parties and a Ron Paul-type character. My plan is to tie most of this into Roman's arc somehow. He'll be the connection to the "normal" world, as he's not involved with any of the gangs (and doesn't want anything to do with them).

Feel free to post any other examples you have here.

Regarding everyone else: wow, didn't know how many people still cared about this! College has kept me busy (especially with my summer courses -- grr, summer chemistry), so I couldn't visit this site that much. (Don't worry, I didn't fail chemistry the first time, I just didn't take it at all during the main semester. And now one of my sophomore courses requires it.) I've decided to go through the whole thing and make a couple of changes. I've added Rafto's banner, put in a couple of new pictures, made reference to the Lost's decline following the events of TLaD, and added a few other little tidbits.

There's no mass transit or nightlife anywhere in Colorado Springs. Sure there's the bus system like every city, but it doesn't even run at after 7pm...

Night life is nonexistant, skin cancer is on the rise; ya now Colorado has the highest skin cancer ranking - and that's not something to be proud of.

There's like this obsession with the outdoors people have here - being a pale skinned type like me doesn't go down well with the locals here... rednecks

Thank god I'm moving cool.gif

Let's just say if you took a vacation here you'd go home deeply, deeply disappointed.

...............................................

Aspen and Denver are ok, but everywhere else is the perfect example of American way of life.

Highways, SUVs, Skin Cancer, No Mass Transit, No Nightlife

ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO SET YOUR GAME HERE?

Yeah this is actually pretty good. The story reminds me a bit of the T.V. show Jericho but with a big hurricane. With the hub-hub over the "clue", Cheyenne would make a good location. I'm guessing working for Z would be like working for Halliburton lol. Anyways, keep up the good work. icon14.gif

Yes people, I'm sorry for bumping a 4 year old topic. I wasn't paying attention, my apologies. I agree, I did an epic fail here.

^ LOL

I probably shouldn't chip in given the thread's age and the failure bump that was recently made, but after reading the original post in its entirety, I feel like I have to comment.

I laughed. Multiple times. A heroic, charismatic, feminist, female protagonist fighting an evil corporation and surrounded by left-wing saints and right-wing ultra-Christian domestic terrorists? It's like this storyline was MADE for an Occupy Wall Street protester.

This could have been something real, had R* hired Martin Bashir and Bill Maher to write and direct the game.

I'll give you credit where it is due, though. You put alot of effort into this and managed to create an ideally flawed protagonist, in that she is a holier-than-thou liberal young adult who views herself as a beacon of intellect and equality while simultaneously harboring violent, idealistic, extremist views towards those who don't agree with her.

Fortunately, R* knows better than to hire ultra-political hacks like the OP. Good idea in theory but Jesus Christ tone down the political motivation a little bit. As much as you'd like to deny it, conservatives and libertarians play video games too, and a good game is only successful if it is either apolitical or properly satirical of BOTH sides.

This topic was bumped for some ungodly reason, and the posts removed because some folk can't play nice and just report and move on.

Locked because... really... it's over.  In the words of that Disney classic film, you know the voice in Scar's head in The Lion King... Let it go.
