beavis
So who here is a fan of late night? I got hooked on Conan ever since the summer of 04. Shame I didn't know about him earlier, considering he's been on the air for 16 seasons. I'am quite excited about this move though. Although I feel Conan has more of that East Coast style, I think he'll do great out here in California. Didn't Leno start out on the East Coast too? So discuss the transition and any late night moments you've experienced. This is Conan's last week btw, so if any fans are out there, I'd suggest you watch the last couple of episodes. DigiEvil: We gotta go to Burbank and smoke Conan out. Edited February 18, 2009 by beavis

darthYENIK
I'm f*cking excited. I can't wait to go to a taping. I just hope that they don't change the show too much when he comes out here. But you know what, he's such a funny dude, that you can take away the skits, and characters from his show, and he'd still be better than Leno. Fnorg
But he ain't got Headlines. He doesn't need them. He has Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. And Abe Vigoda. First time I saw Conan was in the summer of '06. Bear Grylls was on and teh day after Seth Rogen. T'was great. Though, I haven't seen the show since new year's... All of us Californians should manage a meetup and go to a taping. Then we could walk down Hollywood Blvd for some bitches. Last night, Conan mentioned he couldn't bring the masturbating bear to 11:30. He seemed pretty adament about it so he did what only a genius would do and frooze him in Carbonaite. Upon the freezing, Carrie Fisher(Princess Leia) came out of left field and unfroze the masturbating bear and kidnapped him. Him and Stephen Colbert had a string danceoff last night too. Conan was out of breath... Edited February 18, 2009 by beavis
Fnorg
Does anyone remember the fight Colber, Stewart and Conan had? Man, that was awesome. And tickets are booked months in advance.

Moonshield
I'm really afraid he won't be able to bring some of the awesome stuff that's made him my favorite late night host ever, but I'm going to watch no matter what. Anybody that can get James Lipton to recite KFed lyrics and bong a beer is the messiah in my books.
beavis
So who caught the show last night? I was suprised when Conan brought up the Triumph clip. I thought that was aired in 04, but apparently it was 02. Didn't know I've been watching the show that much.
darthYENIK
I've been watching Conan for probably 13 or 14 of his 16 years, and these past episodes have been awesome and very nostalgic. I hope they release a DVD set or something. Andy has to come back for an entire episode. It still seems like yesterday that he left, and I still sometimes turn on the show, and get weird feeling. Like it's missing someone. Those guys that got La Bamba's stand are lucky bastards. I would give my left nut to display that in my house. People would come over, and I'd be all, "This is the kitchen. Here is the Living room, and over there is La Bamba's music stand."
Andyzoot
Quick question from an English kid...does Late Night air every weekday of the air with the exception of holidays? Also I was was really pissed recently as I went on the NBC tour which supposedly took you behind the scenes of SNL and Conan O'Brien, however I did not get to see Conan's set. f*ck NBC! (Although I did see one of the Triumph models which was pretty cool.)
beavis
Quick question from an English kid...does Late Night air every weekday of the air with the exception of holidays? New episodes come out every night (They're recorded earlier in the day) , although sometimes they'll run reruns but that's only because the season will end. Leno starts at 11:30 and Conan at 12:35, but as of June, Conan will be on at 11:30. @Yenik - Wow, that's great. How did you find out about it? Your parents watched it? You must've been a kid when you first started watching the show.
darthYENIK
I started out watching the tonight show, because in my room I only had a TV with rabbit ears, so there wasn't much to watch late at night. but as I got older my insomniac ways grew and I would stay up later, so Conan was the only thing on at 1:30 worth watching. I must have been 10 or 11. Needless to say, I slept a lot in class.
Slamman
Dude, totally forgot this was gonna happen. It's gonna be wierd. If you can watch Conan tonight, make sure to catch it. He's been destroying the set little by little everyday until Friday. I'd been watching David Letterman since his earliest days with NBC. Fun even now to watch the YT archives. Chris Elliot was a mainstay. With Conan, I watched his first season, if not the first show. He had his partner in crime as well, Andy Richter. Having the band as a foil, Bruce Springsteen's drummer as apposed to Saturday Night Live alum Paul Schaffer, still faired extremely well. (Conan was a comic TV writer before going in front of the cameras, where he cameod on SNL, in fact!) Anyway, the point in mentioning Letterman is his big move away from NBC was supposed to catapult him, and it did, funny enough, but I lament all that I liked about his original digs and format. Critics assumed Conan O Brian would wind up bust, I wasn't so sure, I liked the guy. He was self-deprecating and pretended to come from very modest, shy beginnings. Hard to believe with his personality, he's the Class Clown performing for the World! It's not the same as missing Johnny Carson's last shows, those mark the end of a true TV era and legacy. I don't put Letterman or Conan's move in the same bracket. Edited February 19, 2009 by Slamman
QwertyAAA
Conan is awesome. Especially yesterday's show - what with the recap from the Attack of the Clones opening. Yes, it'll be somewhat weird when he moves... Sigh...
beavis
Conan is awesome. Especially yesterday's show - what with the recap from the Attack of the Clones opening. They're showing the best of Conan all week. You could've went on the website last week and voted, but obviously it's too late. And that adorable pooch you saw was Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, best damn puppet to hit the streets since Kermit. The show sends him to random places as a correspondent only to mock those who cross him.
Fnorg
Will Conesy bring the band to LA? They play great music, aaaand the show wouldn't be the same without Max and La Bamba. What do you guys think of Fallon taking over? Never liked him on SNL, but he might do good. But I did enjoy that movie he and that other guy did with that "baby don't hurt me, no more" song. EDIT: That was Kattan. I don't like Fallon at all now. I can't even remember him from SNL.

Spaghetti Cat
Robots, Bears, and Lincoln! Either Coincidence or Genus! As a long-time viewer of Late Night i'm going to miss Conan and the gang in NY. Im neither a fan of Leno or Fallon so it will be interesting. Too bad Leno is still on before the new Tonight Show, he's really not that funny. I was watching him the other night and he had some old man playing a song through his teeth. Yeah real funny Jay. They had Norm McDonald on Late Night, monday I think, and he was joking with Conan about the situation: Norm- Your agent is like, 'There's good news and bad news. You are doing "The Tonight Show," it's true. But remember that discussion we had when you said, "I will never have to f***ing follow Leno again? Conan- Yeah, yeah. It's so nice to have you back, Norm. It's so very nice to have you back That had me rolling, in fact they should put Norm as Conan's replacement. Oh well, still have my yellow 'Late Night' t-shirt to proudly wear. Thanks for 16 years of laughs Conan! No Image Available
GodfatherITB
Every time I'm flipping through the channels and I come across Conan, it makes me remember why I'm watching TV in the first place. I haven't seen any episodes in a while, though. I need to get on that.

Yup, he mentioned it on the show last night. The crowd went nuts when he confirmed that the band would come with him to los angeles. Then, he joked how they wouldn't be playing for him, just to bring them along to live with them. LOL.

I personally love it, but it would sink like a rock. I hate to say Fallon is a good choice, but he's is a safe bet for NBC. And the Lincoln money shot channel is the best. I'm glad the band's coming with him. Tonight's the big night, though with me not living in America and all, I'll have to catch it on nbc.com. Any news on Andy? I remember last February, when the writer strike was on and he did the laser show as Rudi. That'll be hard to top.
beavis
Anyone watching it on the west coast. Will Farrell is f*cking nuts. Andy Richter, surprise guest. makeshyft
I haven't been able to watch Conan since I dumped pay-TV. I've been a fan of Late Night since about 1997, and really hope the change doesn't water down his sense of humour. He wrote two of the greatest Simpsons episodes ever: Marge Vs the Monorail and Homer Goes to College. He has my support on the Tonight Show, largely because of his excellent writing skills. I'd love it if Andy came back as a sidekick. It's not like he's working much as an actor.
darthYENIK
I am man enough to admit, I got a little misty eyed when Andy came out. I saw them sitting there side by side, and it just felt right. When Andy left I was scared that the show would just turn into another Tonight show with Jay Leno. Two funny guys are always better than one. As I mentioned, this show has been a regular part of my life since I was 12 years old and I probably wouldn't be the same person without it. Wouldn't be the same without my brother waking up at 1am to hear me laughing hysterically after being introduced to the Pimpbot 5000. Man, is it me or has every guest on this show in the past two or three weeks, just sh*t on L.A. For the record, celebrities, DO NOT know about the real L.A. That's why they only ever talk about the obvious things, like driving and the fair weather. They stay in Hollywood, and that's all they know. Hollywood is a very different place than the greater Los Angeles area.
