So I guess GTA IV performance isn't a driver issues anymore. At least not as far as Nvidia is concerned.

Didn't you buy a 4870? I thought you replaced the 8500GT with a 4870?

I got two PC, so Athlon uses 8500GT, Phenom Black uses 4870.

No, its "hardware level". wink.gif

Little bit of topic: we will have soon many Non-Reference "GTXs" nvidia's GPUs, that means that we may see cheaper designs, better OC editions with extra coolers, and higher VRAM amout for some of them, let's hope we will have a 1.5-2.0 GB on the high-end cards.

well as usual my benchmark crashes and hasnt worked since I've had GTA4, but I did notice with these drivers my FPS are down or go even lower now than before with 181.22 icon13.gificon13.gificon13.gificon13.gificon13.gif when it rains the FPS are noticeably lower than with other drivers. suicidal.gif

the 185.20s were probably the best for me.

No because performance should be ok as long as you are using settings that your hardware can handle. Last week the 182.05 Beta was released and the 182.06 is of course the same driver only it's certified by Microsoft. In the release notes for the Beta GTA IV has a fix listed for the "out of memory" error which also relates to about every other game crashing error. I played for a week with no issues for the first time since I bought this game. Today however, I installed the 182.06 WHQL and the game crashed after about 45 minutes with no error message. I was a little pissed so I have not tried to replicate the issue yet but I also noticed a slight decrease in image quality and Mass Effect crashed on me for the first time ever. If I can make GTA IV crash again I will be going back to 182.05 beta. If you have not updated to this driver yet I would say be careful and for now go with the 182.05 beta.

Its an interesting point , that "out of memory" fix wasnt included in the 182.06 release notes.

I lost 9, yes people, 9 fps with this driver. Same resolution, same settings, same configs. From the fantastic 30 to the pathetic 21.

Did you properly remove your old driver?

Probably not.

dozingoff.gif

Yes, I did run the DriverSweeper on the safe mode. sh*t, I will just get back to the old one eh. turn.gif Besides, with this driver I get massive framerate drop after playing about 30-40 min.

Me too.It looks like the game loads slower, and it loads, stutters even in places where it shouldn't be doing it.Went beck to -->181.22 and everything back to normal.

Yep, tried these drivers and...what a load of sh*t! WAY slower than 180.884 or 181.22.

Definitely NOT keepers. Don't upgrade to these if your main concern is IV.

I have a better tip.

Don't upgrade if you lose FPS: But since you can't know that before trying, you need to upgrade!

And then revert in case of FPS loss.

Why are you guys that are getting 50 or 60 FPS nit picking over drivers?

Probably because those 50-60 benchmarks get to standard 35+40 in game and hit 20-25 without any problems when push comes to shove.

Hello,

On my config: Q6600 - 8800GT - 4GB RAM - XP 32bits

GTA IV run laggy with 182.06 whql Drivers.

It's The same with 182.05 BETA.

Return to 181.22 solve the probleme.

There is a probleme with 8000 series and theses drivers ?

Ah, actually it isn't "rollback", for me the older one I was using is the 185 beta drivers, and they're the fastest I have ever used.

You may try the 185.20 beta, its the fastest driver ive used to play GTA 4.

changed back to 181.22 after a couple of minutes of gameplay with these new drivers ... instead of the smooth ride i was used to i got studder and general sluggishness.

Sunrise Driver

I lost over 5 FPS with this driver so I removed it and play with 181.22.

The best driver, INMHO, is the leaked xfastest 185.20.

Where to download it?
