GoldenJoel Posted February 18, 2009 Share Posted February 18, 2009 Ok, lets have a thread for those who rushed through the campaign like giddy school girls... *SPOILERS BELLOW BETTER NOT READ* Ok, so I keep reading all these reviews about how Johnny wasn't interesting, how the story blew, etc. Frankly, I'm a little surprised. Granted, it wasn't as good as IV, but it still had it's own merits when it came to story telling. Hell, people are expected Shakespeare from a f*cking Biker story. What they really wanted to capture in the story, I feel, was brotherhood, and they made sure to keep that in every regard. You could see Johnny struggling with that thought when he killed Billy. The only problem I had with the story was that I didn't feel Billy was so COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL like Johnny said. I mean, granted he was overly violent, but as soon as Johnny became president, he began tearing the club down. Also, for some reason I don't think Jim is dead, or it was left open for a reason. AntiPersonnel Posted February 18, 2009 Share Posted February 18, 2009 i thought Niko killed Jim in the subway chase mission. maybe im wrong though. but i hope we get to revisit Three Leaf Clover as Luis' point of view. i think Luis grabs the rest of the money in the vault that Niko said he couldnt carry and has to shoot his way out a different route. AntiPersonnel Posted February 18, 2009 Share Posted February 18, 2009 anyways i liked the story, i liked Johnny and especially liked the motorcycle gang dynamic and rolling with the crew on missions. i think they did a great job with the bike physics and it really makes you want to ride the bike around everywhere as opposed to driving or taking the taxi. while playing as johnny i dont feel a need to steal cars or vehicles, its wierd. i was hoping there was going to be more than just 1 "rail shooting" mission on the back of a bike, i had thought it was going to be like a new way to fight in missions. i like the auto shotty and all but it made that one mission just way too easy.. overall, i think TLAD was too easy in general. AntiPersonnel Posted February 18, 2009 Share Posted February 18, 2009 do you really want to know without having played the game? yes you do kill billy, and its because he F'd everything up for the Lost and is an incompetent leader... among other reasons. billy gets incarcerated mid-story and goes to prison, turns out he is making things worse on the inside and threatening to testify in court and put Johnny in prison (because he thinks johnny set him up and betrayed him) while billy is planning to get out safely by federal witness protection. Flying overhead, showing all the moents from Nikos great mkssions, and some cameos from Johnny's biker gang in the backgronud (e.g the execution of Vlad, as the Lost drive by) I loved it! Dingdongs Posted February 18, 2009 Share Posted February 18, 2009 I played the whole thing now- and the side missions for Congressman Stubbs and Angus. I must say I loved it- the thing I loved most was the missions that connected to Niko's story. Those missions that had no connection to Niko's story disinterested me. The biker thing was cool- the way R* left us without a stable safehouse with a TV and computer and the end upset me- so after the game ended now you can't watch television- another reason why I am not playing TLAD again and just going to stick with IV. I enjoyed playing it, but I don't think it was worth the hype. It was a great game, but it didn't live up to what they made it out to be. They said there will be all these amazing new interiors and all these cool things- but there wasn't honestly, it seemed there were more closed interiors than opened. The real amount of fun I had with this was seeing Niko in the museum, kidnapping Roman, seeing Niko at the apartment for the drug deal- I loved how R* made you able to hear Niko fighting, and during the museum mission we could actually SEE him. The bug in Bryce Dawkin's car was cool too, you can hear Bernie talking to Niko, Bryce driving around himself- etc. I just thought that the actual story of Johnny was undeveloped and the characters were really not up to par IMO. The biker thing got a little tiring too, like failing a mission for getting your bike shot up was just retarded. In all, I give it an 8.5- definitely worth purchasing, you learn a lot of unsolved questions from Niko's story- and it lets you brainstorm a lot for Luis Lopez's story- but the story itself just made me lose interest a few times. You order your lads to burn it down at the end, it gets trashed by someone and you burn it to get rid of the old memories or something. Because during the storyline you piss off Ray who is a member of the Peg's mafia- therefore resulting in his men prboobly trashing it then Johnny and the lost burnt it down.
