I'm not really liking 1.1 as much.

 

1.0 was better in my opinion because it minimized Nikos head clipping through the camera and the view actually moved around like you were in the car. In 1.0 the look sensitivity for the joypad was higher too, which was a good thing.

 

The only thing I like about 1.1 more than 1.0 is that when you fire the view doesn't switch to external. There is a small amount of clipping when doing so, but it's definitely a worthy sacrifice.

 

I'll be sticking with 1.0.

 

Edit: Okay, I see option to change joypad sensitivity. Now how to get that old "head swaying" feel of 1.0 and stop Nikos eyeballs and teeth from showing up.

Try adding a few units to the FPY value to move the cam a bit further away from the face. try 2 - 4 for a start.

The trouble with this is when climbing walls in first person you will see thro the wall. Also there are no head constraints now so you will get to see nicos face if you turn the cam far left or right. I hope you know you must now press "K" to enter first person.

I actually like third person when on foot, it's only in the cars that I like first person. I have already tried changing the values as you suggested and no changes I can do seem to bring back the swaying head motion while in the vehicle. The camera seems to have a static point depending on the values I adjust and is no longer connected to Niko's head movement. This results in Nikos head obscuring my vision when breaking hard or driving into something.

 

Is it supposed to be like this? Any suggestions would be nice. I'm also using the other first person driving mod, its like vehoff.csv or something like that. If you think that has anything to do with it maybe you can send me your vehoff.csv. I didn't make a backup when I first installed that other mod because I was so sure I wouldn't uninstall it. But now that there is this mod that in 1.0 fixed all the things I didnt like about the first first-person driving mod.

we can make niko's head invisible and ajust the clipping part...

for now, a small tip would be to make niko invisible while looking back on-foot.

I might include this to make it automatic but i thought it might mess up replays.

I'm in two minds about it.

From earlier in your thread:

 

 

The camera stays glued to your face. It eliminates a lot of the clipping issues fp mods can have while also adding a level of realism.

For instance you bend down and look at the hot wire position when hot wiring.

Slamming of in the breaks hard will jolt you.

 

Slamming on the breaks hard no longer jolts me in 1.1. And it's more than eyes and teeth clipping, its his whole head. It wasn't like this in 1.0.

I'm telling you that's how it is on my game. I dont have an original vehoff.csv anymore, if anyone would be so kind as to send me theirs I'm sure I could test it out and see if it fixes the problem.

Another thing that's weird on my game with 1.1: the car handling returns to default. But when I reinstall 1.0 it lets me used the Realistic Driving mod.

while sprinting into walls you can see through them, the invisible head can solve that by making the FPY = -4/5 sigh.gif

Can you make the cruise control set to stay on? It's really annoying because it keeps deactivating it self over the slightest things, Like going over a bump, being airborne ect.

C06alt, I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with your mod of the external chase camera. That is exactly what I was looking for. I bought the game the first day it came out and I have waited until now to play it because I hated the damn camera. The only suggestion I have is raising it up a little bit because sometimes it is too low to see whats in front of the car when driving or even better adding an option to adjust is manually to each persons preference. Other than that I think you have done a great job. You're the only person I know on this forum or any other for that matter that has taken the time to make such a mod. I also tried your first person view and it's great except for not having a cross hair to aim when shooting. I sincerely appreciate the hard work.

i think theres a way to compare the vector of the player's heading angle and the camera angle to make it automated when looking back icon14.gif

I appreciate all your comments,

 

@ HippieCommunist i did indeed compare the cameras angle and the body angle but took it out at the last minute due to a bug with the south pole.

at the point where the angle wraps is a problem where 0 turns to 359. That was for car reversing but could be good for the player also. I will return to it.

 

@a-k-t-w I agree cruise control disengage is to sensitive.

 

@durklives never tried the realistic handling but i cant see how this could affect either a vehoff file setting or a handling mod. If you have extremely low fps in game the camera clips more then usual as it is to slow to update its position. I never see the players face parts when breaking. Only when i crash very fast and come to a dead stop might this happen. While testing I found i didn't experience any clipping in the usual situations if i slowed the rate of time down like a bullet time mod. So if your getting a bad frame rate with cpu struggling i can see the possibility of more clipping happening.

 

i'm still convinced you never pressed the new key "K" to enter first person and instead you see the game with the vehoff mod settings.

fpd no longer automatically goes into first person when you press view cycle "V".

 

@ Borocay The aim skews off to the right as you shoot closer to you. Shoot at your feet then off into the distance to test. A crosshair would never be accurate until i address this first.

 

@babarian225 cinematic is a very broad term, Turning sensitivity of the joystick mouse? speed at which the camera turns into /out of a corner. How fast it autocenters?

Do you find the cam lock external view to bumpy?

You will have to describe in detail what you want. Or better quote an example game.

But when Niko goes on euphoria, it's impossible to see a thing, since the camera doesn't follow niko's head's point of view suicidal.gif

Something to note on first person on foot. If you take damage, for an instant you will get all of nicos head roll pitch direction translated to the camera. When in a fist fight if you take a right hook for example your view will flick to the left matching the heads reaction to the punch. When nico is in the air or climbing also has a smiler effect.

Also being shot will knock your aim off center because of this.

 

I recommend a fist fight in first person. Nice to see the faces reactions and blood spits going here and there.

 

@yeahsine i didn't test with euphoria except being flung out the front window. Ill look into it ty.

Love the update! Only thing I've encountered is that occasionally the camera goes rogue and starts to spin around inside the car, as if you were the girl from The Exorcist, spinning around 360 degrees and keeps going. It eventually stops after I get out/ back into the car, but it's happened to me about four times now. Great mod though, love it!

 

Also, could you possibly add a crosshair to the first person on foot? It would make aiming a bit easier smile.gif.

Thanks, C06alt. Gotta say this mod is amazing and really brings even more to this game.

 

Quick question, is there a way to make Niko invisible from view? I know there is a trainer that can change the alpha, but once in the car, it also changes alpha. Is there a way to enable a "ghost driver"?

It would be awesome if you expanded the retro view a bit.

 

Make it so that the player's crosshair is locked at the Z level, meaning they can't aim their gun up/down, making it easier to aim at stuff and keeping it true to the original GTA which had no Z levels.

 

And it'd be make Niko's forward walking direction the direction he has his gun pointed in.

Yeah its much easier with auto aim with a game pad. locking the z might work if your not fighting uphill biggrin.gif

 

@VietnamRebel yep i notice the center bug. For now if i spin it around the way its going it will center when it comes to the front after one revolution.

as i said to Borocay the crosshair would only be off because the aim skews left as it gets closer to you (shoot at your feet).

Sometimes I can't see where I am going because it is too low which results in me not knowing what the hell is in front of the vehicle until I hit it. tounge2.gif Not a major issue because beggars can't be choosers. I don't really have an issue with the speed in which the camera follows the car when turning corners and with the first person view since I normally run around in third person view. I guess it would be uber nice to have the ability to adjust both the speed in which it follows vehicles when turning corners and the height of the chase camera. Rockstar made the original chase camera too low and it auto corrects itself back to its original position if it is adjusted upwards. I just wish I could adjust it upwards and it would stay where I leave it. Other than that this is a great mod. You are the MAN. icon14.gif

I agree that the chase camera is usually a little to low. I was going to add the ability to choose the angle you look at the car but updating the angle made things look jumpy for some reason. I did have some more ideas to test on this, I will look back into it. along with some degree of chase camera lateral movement.

I've noticed, while on a sanchez, with cruise control on, the bike is extremely bumpy. It just keeps bumping up and down.
