This thread is a discussion about The Lost and Damned.

Not the PS3 or Xbox or whatever.

Please, I know you guys are upset it didn't come out on PS3- but don't hijack threads that are about The Lost and Damned storyline/content.

My comments are not about one over the other, if most feel they have equal footing in regard to GTA, both have their differences that have been debated. My comments are speaking toward advocating DLC for all systems it can encompass. No more, no less. I feel they prove it can work for GTA with this, and much more to come in the future...the other thing I believe to be so.

Slamman, I understand your feelings.

But this is not the thread to do it in, come on man.

We are trying to talk about the game, not start another debate about whether or not it will come out on PS3.

Nah. I doubt there will be a third content pack, if there is Microsoft will probably get there hands all over it.

I'm not starting the debate, EvilRex is, one of the worst offending Fanboys in GTAF history! Please, give it a rest ER! ^

Anywho, I never said I felt good as a PS3 owner to hear this news, I am actually saddened if something I'd appreciate falls short of the mark. Longevity is an issue. What is the size of the DLC BTW? I'd assume 300MBytes?

..Corrected typo above, oops.

If Microsoft gets their hands on the third, best believe that a lot of PS3 users will boycott the next GTA, because what's the point anymore? That's bad for Sony and Rstar.

lol @ all the people who raced through the storyline on the first day.. Of course youre not going to enjoy it if you dont make it last. Im sure you were going apesh|t the whole time playing it, then the ending came up and you were like nooo this cant be it. Well serves you right for playing a game out in 1 day..

Agreed, no wonder people ruined it for themselves, people have actually completed it already...Im going on it for the first time when I come home biggrin.gif

f*ck that it is short. Wasn't COD4 a f*cking awesome game? In my first playthrough, I've beat it in 4-5 hours, have NEVER played its multiplayer, and it is still a f*cking awesome game. You just need to know how to enjoy the game, not just mash buttons.

@Slamman: Flight Simulator X is over 14GB, I think.

The game is too short no matter how long you spread it out.

Too short compared to what?

I know what you mean, people are expecting a new game, its only an add on confused.gif ungreatful bastards.

R* rock (no pun intended) and they have gone right off the beaten crack to provide us with an excellent DLC.

First off, you can't even spell ungrateful. Secondly, I actually paid for this content it's not like R* is doing me any favors.

And you'd be hard pressed to make the case that 6 hours to get through the main story line isn't short, especially when most gaming reviews said it would take at least 10.

It's not like Rockstar haven't been working on this since about a month after GTA IV released. It's not like they had to program it, design art and graphics for it, write it, get people to do the voices or anything. Hmm-kay?

At the end of the day, it's downloadable content and it doesn't actually cost a lot. You get what you pay for. A couple of new missions, some side activities and new stuff to fool around with. Were you expecting a new full game or something?

And surely everyone knows by now to take website reviews with a grain of salt?!

R* isn't your friend, they're a corporate entity. Out for profit, which is fine, but don't act like they're doing you(us) a favor with the dlc because they aren't.

They got paid a lot of money to create this "dlc"(which is a gimmick to begin with... but aaanyway) and you shouldn't be afraid to criticize it. That's how they improve their product; through feedback. So there's nothing to be ungrateful about, you're the one paying for it after all.

True.

When you think about feedback though, the only thing wrong with it is the length and it's incredible to say it's only dlc.

It's a load of Horse armor people!

There were more issues than the length of it. R* hasn't changed some of the problems that have spanned throughout the GTA series and certainly not some annoying problems with IV in this DLC.

The reason they're not getting feedback and don't massive tune ups to their games is because people think it's illegitimate to criticize the gaming company. No, it's not. When you pay so much money for a product and are active in anticipating it, sharing your thoughts on it, etc. you are entitled to an opinion. The suggestions I've made aren't going to hurt anyone, they'd make the game better. You just need to stop being such an apologist for R*.

And if you REALLY want to go there I could make the argument that DLC means developers excise content that should have originally been included and stuck it on later.

It's rockstar's JOB. People can give their opinion if they want. If it weren't for these people who barrage games, you guys would be suckered into accepting any GTA title ( opinion ).

When almost every preview or review of the game says "At least 10 hours" and some even saying "12+" you might take it a little seriously. This isn't some random number one reviewer put on there. Then again, R* promised tons of new interiors and unseen areas of Liberty City and I hardly noticed any of that. The hype seems to be getting the better of somebody..

$20 isn't nothing and "a couple of new missions and some side activities" is hardly what R* promised and others people reported. Aside from that, it's not really worth $20 to do the same stuff as in the main game. So what that there are 50 more seagulls for me to shoot?

Well it was made very clear in the previews (the non major website ones that is) that TLAD was going to be "more of the same."

But still, movies cost around ( 20 for 2hrs with extra stuff) ? ( That's why I bootleg or rent ), it's the same thing, you're getting a new story and you get to play it!

Worth every penny in my opinion. I thought it was awesome. Definitely lived up to the hype. It reminded me of the good old days of GTA. Rockstar definitely seem to be back on top form, thankfully. I don't know what went wrong with GTA IV. It's good and all but it's never been THAT good. This, on the other hand, had me hooked right from the get go and I know I'm going to be playing this for a good few months. Maybe even until the second episode is released. The characters, the story, everything about it was just completely refreshing. Obviously this isn't everybodies cup of tea due to the fact that not everybody is into the whole biker theme but I f*cking loved it.

The story was awesome. It filled in a few gaps. Albeit, things that we already kind of knew were going to happen, but still. I was extremely glad to see some old faces again. Especially Ray. It was also good to finally see his angry side and sweet f*ck, what an angry side he has. That scene in Drusilla's basement took me totally by suprise. It reminded me of the scene in Mikhail's basement in GTA IV with Dimitri, Roman and Niko but this just killed that scene. It was awesome. Also, am I the only person that thought Ray looked meaner than he did in IV? He looked like a right nasty piece of work in this.

What a ride.

Just played it for a few more hours, I'm really enjoying it. It's just the animations that are pissing me off. How the hell did they leave them like that? Niko's movement animations were much more realistic and fluid, beautiful. But these ones are just... ugly. Will they ever change them?

Story is fun, physics improvements are noticable, new vehicles/games/weapons are all detailed and fun. It's just those goddamn player animations...

Payed £14 for that =/

What the hell did you expect, a full fledged GTA game?

a game as epic as IV deserves better. look at oblivion. had awesome dlc, well worth the money... if you liked oblivion. and youre right you cant pay 20 bucks and expect a whole new gta but you should be able to expect quality. i feel like one of the few that was in no way dissapointed with iv but im pretty dissapointed with latd.

Two words. Horse armor. Oblivion had some of the best.. and most definitely the worst DLC ever. So I wouldn't use them as a "perfect" example.

You mean this DLC doesn't have any horse armour ? Well that is an automatic fail for me, I demand that Rockstar immediately implement horse armour into this game, only then can this be called EPIC dlc. It seems to me as if this is GTA 4 all over again, people expecting a little bit more than they were ever likely to get.

I can't comment on the dlc directly because I don't have access to it, but it is understandable some will like it and some won't.

I thought the DLC was pretty good. The story was strong enough, the missions were kick a**, and riding in formation was great. I have very mixed feelings for the ending, though. It does make plenty of sense, ending it the way they did, but the game now feels lonely. I want the club house back, I want to roll with my gang again, etc. I also wish there were more safe houses and interiors and the ability to change clothes.

GTA IV/TLAD is epic, but I am hoping they back off the "realism" for GTA V. I miss the ridiculous from Vice City and San Andreas. I absolutely hated the Saint's Row franchise for cloning GTA until I played Saint's Row 2. The level of mayhem, freedom, customization, and fun (along w/ the coop mode) was amazing and won me over. GTA has really become a "looks great, feels dry" type of game... at least for me. I want to take over the world again, like good ol' Tommy and CJ. I want the secret alien goop, the parachute, the jetpack, the casinos, robbable stores and banks back. OK, rant over. suicidal.gif

After The Lost And Damned, I am hoping that the next DLC is for GTA IV, not a side story (though highly unlikely). I'd love to see them add more missions for Niko, add a ton more interiors, safehouses, activites, vehicles, weapons, etc. I'd also like to see them focus more on the online multiplayer modes. I am certainly gracious there even is such thing as GTA multiplayer (I was one of the people who believed R* would never go online with GTA), but I think it could use a little more. They need to do better with Freemode (put back in all that is missing (trains, interiors, activites, etc), there just isn't a whole lot to do besides killing each other. I'd like to see more RPG/story to multiplayer and not just "go fetch" type of modes. Even just a coop mode like Saint's Row 2 has would be amazing.

I see I got a little off topic. moto_whistle.gif

i thought that during the mission were you kidnapped roman there quite a few funny lines, the one i remember best is after Johnny and Malc smell something bad in the car, and roman says "lord forgive me for sh*ting my pants, lord forgive me for making fun of Brucie's balls"

The thing that made this add-on so great wasn't the biker gang aspect or the characters or even the story. It was the fact that Rockstar had returned to old form with this game and put some thought into the missions. They had finally brought the fun aspect to GTA back. They gave us some fun but realistic weapons which pertains to Rockstars whole realism shtick and scripted the missions better than they did in IV. It was just constant action all the way though. A nice change to GTA IV's slow "go there, get this/kill them" storyline.

Although, having said that, the biker gang aspect, characters and story were awesome. One thing that I liked was the character development in TLAD. I particularly liked what they had done with Elizabeta. In GTA IV she felt like she'd just been thrown in the game to fill in a gap and act as a waypoint to introduce a couple of the more key characters in the story. She didn't really seem like she belonged. But to me, she fitted right in with this games whole gritty underworld feel, though.

Well, now there's a thread all about the credits, so discuss in that one. ^

I'd say, for the initial foray into GTA4, months and months ago, those credits were amazing... I plan to go back and start the original game again.
