dills
My clan just got a website (www.the10thrj.com) and there has been an issue with the banner in the top right not displaying in IE. This is what it looks like in Firefox: This is it in IE: This is a part of the header.html in the theme folder: <!--DWLayoutTable--> <tr><td width="513" height="135" valign="top"><embed src="themes/Nvision/images/banner3.jpg" width="513" height="135"></embed></td> <td width="32" valign="top"><img src="themes/Nvision/images/h2.jpg" width="32" height="135" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="86" colspan="2" valign="top"><table width="545" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" background="themes/Nvision/images/hlogin.jpg"> <!--DWLayoutTable--> The bit to do with the banner is in the 3rd line down. I am looking ofr any kind of help for how to get this image to display in IE and I assume it may have something to do with that bit of code above. Thanks. K^2
Replace <embed> with <img>. Id est, replace 3rd line with this: <td width="513" height="135" valign="top"><img src="themes/Nvision/images/banner3.jpg" width="513" height="135" /></td> Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns. dills
Changed the image to a .gif and used what you posted and it worked fine, thanks for the assistance. EDIT: By the way, you wouldn't know how I would go about getting an image to display on the tab and next to the address bar in Firefox would you? At the moment it is only the image of a white page. K^2
It is a favicon.ico file in the root directory. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.
dills
That sorted that out, thanks. One final thing (I hope), in the top left you will see we have a 'Challenge us' link which takes the person to a form that they fill out and this is then sent out to a predetermined email address. However, I have seen in some places than once the form is filled out instead of an email, it automatically makes a post on the forums in a specified area, such as a 'Challenges' section on the forum which I would create. How easy is this to do and would you have any idea how it is done? The forums on our site are phpbb2 if that makes a difference.
K^2
Easiest thing, try to find a PHP script written by someone who has already done that. I've done this with vB and SMF, and it took me about an hour to figure out how to properly tap into DB of each one the first time I've done it. It's not something you'd be comfortable with setting up yourself if you don't have experience with writing your own PHP DB apps. So yeah, find someone who has already done the hard part, and get their code. I'm sure that you'd be able to find something similar on the forums of the company that distributes your forum code. dills
Yeah I have been scouring the internet for a few days trying to find one. I think my best bet is to just message a couple of forum admins that have this kind of system in place and see if they can help me out. EDIT: I finally found one, however, it needs something called ioncube loader to be installed which I do not have atm. Gonna have to work on it tomorrow and try to find out how to install it. Toadyd
Your host probably already has ioncube loader installed installed, so you shouldn't need to worry about that. Yep - http://forums.hostgator.com/ioncube-t44902.html (It looks like you are hosted with them?)
dills
Correct, hostgator. Yes it did, I emailed them about it and they confirmed it for me. Got the module set up and running, works great.
