If you hate it, you shouldn't be involved. Only a person prepared to put away all feelings in order to make an objective statement has a right to say that what someone is teaching is wrong. If you hate, anything or anyone, you are not that person.

Ask anyone here how they feel towards Scientology. Read some of these stories and tell me how you feel.

 

You think 'hate' is blinding me or something? It'll do more damage then good to the 'cause'? I guess that depends on how you focus that hate. Of course hate can make you make bad decisions in a street fight or a war but it's necessary when you spend over a year protesting something without loss of determination. You think I'm using 'hate' to attack Scientologists? I use it to explain to people about why I protest, hell I buy copies of 'The Complex' and hand them out to free to people on the streets.

If people who hate scientology oppose them, they can say that these people do because of their hate, and they'd be right. You are just creating a perfect defense for them. The more people out there who hate scientology, the easier it is for them to remain where they are.

I disagree, I came from a completely objective view of Scientology (even defending them a couple of years ago when that South Park episode came out) but the more you learn about Scientology the more disgusted you become.

 

Like I said maybe hate is too strong a word, maybe passion is more appropriate. I'm passionate about this cause and bringing down Scientology.

If it touches you emotionally, you shouldn't get involved.

 

Hate cannot be focused. It exists on its own and fuels itself. It's the same problem as with the fear and ignorance. They are self perpetuating. Hate just gets you more hate.

 

You can be angry. Anger can be focused at the cause. Rage can be focused. But not hate. Even if scientology ceases to be, if you hate them, your hate will remain.

 

If you hate, you cannot be objective about it. You hate it. You already have a position. Your opinion cannot be objective by definition.

I hate Scientology as much as the next guy, probably a lot more then the next guy, Germany shouldn't try to ban it. I think I mentioned this last Scientology argument for a wide array of reasons. I think what I didn't mention is that more importantly, this adds so much fodder for the Scientologist's bullsh*t. They look like victims of religious persecution, if we can just go ahead and revoke their tax exempt status (if they have one) and ignore the church from there, then we can be done with it. They can't say evil psychiatrists are in control of government and trying to destroy them, if nobody is trying to destroy them.

 

The best thing that can destroy Scientology is continued mockery of them in popular culture. Why do you think they are so aggressive in their lawsuits against those who insult them. Well way back when a man called L. Ron Hubbard wrote a piece called 'Fair Game',

It has nothing to do with pop culture taking the piss, they can deal with that. What they don't need is constant bombardment by people talking out about them, not some cartoon characters either, real people who have been in the ranks of Scientology who know what's going on.

When I say pop culture, I suppose I don't just mean cartoons and whatnot, although you would be surprised how if the media found something extremely distasteful or ridiculous, it's popularity could see a decline. What I'm getting at though is that the government doesn't have a responsibility to say Scientology is bad, if Scientology is to fall, it's everyday citizens like you and me who will destroy it. What the government should do is not enable them by giving them tax exempt status and hearing their frivolous lawsuits. People are scared to criticize the church because of lawsuits.

With that, it should be the government's responsibility to prosecute any Scientologists who attempt to silence critics, The Church has been guilty of criminal harassment and conspiracy for decades. So I'm not suggesting that we bury our heads in the sand and ignore The Church, but outright infringement of their 'religious freedom' is not the way to approach this situation.

Scientology is organised in a way that any wrong doing of one echelon isn't traceable to the top. The 'Church' of Scientology is just a parent company if you will and each organisation under them is independent from a legal standpoint and so they officially never communicate outside of legitimate business. It is however the top that runs the cult, they deal with the money, they make 'recommendations' etc. They're basically operating in a legal loophole, they should have been shut down during Snow White.

Well I know for a fact that the majority of their recruitment is from walk-ins and free 'personality tests', if you take that away from them and make more widely known their cover organisations they're pretty much sucked dry.

Well most of history's examples are because of an ideology, be it political, religious or social. This is all about the money, you take away the source of that money it collapses. You ban them from operating, it collapses. They rely on vulnerable people who they can convince they have the secrets to happiness and freedom, if you educate the people about them they will collapse.

If they'll have to operate underground, they will. Making it illegal will decrease the influx of money, but it will also reduce the cost of advertisement for them. By making it illegal, you essentially do all the advertising for them. "Scientology! Scientology here! Don't join them, it's illegal." It won't stop the leaders from getting rich on the whole thing.

 

What's worse, is that you are sacrificing a few important principals to get there. They claim that it is their religion. It's a bit difficult to argue with that claim, because their "beliefs" are of the same caliber as that of any other major religion. In fact, aliens sound more plausible than invisible man in the sky to me. Yes, the leaders are in it for the money, but you aren't going to tell me that none of the Christian, Jewish, or Muslim religious leaders are in it for the money. The only ones I'm even willing to give the benefit of the doubt to are the Hindus and Buddhists. Anyways, you ban it, a question comes up, why not ban Christianity also? I mean, plenty of people suffer because of stubbornness of that church as well. Look how long it took US to get onto Stem Cell research, all because of the Church. That alone harmed more people than Scientology is capable of reaching. So why not ban it also. And all other organized religion while we are at it.

 

And while I think that world would be a better place without organized religion, I know that you are on a very bad road if you start actually outlawing it. Again, look at Soviet Union, China, and North Korea.

 

I know you mean well. But so did people who put Hitler in charge of Germany. There were problems. They figured that fixing them was worth the few sacrifices. You really have to think ahead on such things. What's next? What else will get banned? Do you want to live in the world where this happens?

I, nor Anon, are trying to ban Scientology as a religion. In fact we're not even trying to ban them, although I think that's where it should lead. They are allowed to have their beliefs however they operate as a business, they need to stop. They operate as an army, they need to stop. They operate as a cult, they need to stop.

 

No one is trying to oppose their beliefs, it is their actions and the implications of those actions that need to be outlawed. The niece of the current leader, David Miscaivage, escaped and began protesting explaining how they were practically kidnapped. As kids they were locked in rooms, sometimes physically held. Even for a religion by today's standards it's a bit extreme, in fact it's flat out illegal.

I think we got closer to reaching a consensus this time, which is great. I really think we should approach this differently, as cliched as the term grassroots is, and that is what we're doing now.

 

I find that the more we f*ck them up judicially, the more legally responsible they become. I mean police raids and holding the church responsible for all their crimes. I would go as far as to say that Scientology abides by the law today more then they did in the 70's, when they got busted for Snow White and had their headquarters raided worldwide.
