860
CLEARWATER — A mother has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Church of Scientology, its Flag Service Organization and three parishioners, claiming they brought about her son's death by denying him access to his antidepression medication. Among the three parishioners named as defendants: Denise Gentile, the twin sister of the church's current worldwide leader, David Miscavige, as well as her husband, Gerald Gentile. Filed in Tampa federal court Friday, the lawsuit claims Gentile and her husband persuaded Kyle Brennan's father to take away his Lexapro, which his son was taking for depression and anxiety. source

ryuclan
Sounds like a mistake on the father's part. He shouldn't take anyone but a doctor's advice on discontinuing medication. Did the kid kill himself?
Mad Tony
I can see this thread turning into a huge crusade against religion, despite Scientology not even being a religion and even if it was, it's the most f*cked up excuse for one.

No matter how religious I am I wouldn't just do something because someone who is the leader of my religion tells me to. I don't care if the pope himself tells me to take my child's medication away. If him/her having this condition wasn't meant to be then he/she wouldn't have it in the first place.

Typhus
No. My cult is based around the belief that there is an evil alien called Xorgtron who died five years ago but still controls humanity via videos and electrial devices. Basically, if you give me your savings I can protect you against Xorgtron.
