Flickering shadows

Hi im updated and im very happy with latest patch, even the hot dogs arent missing. However i found that the flickering shadows still happen. Also low quality shadows flicker like mad.

 

Is this shadows flicker solved or im the only getting it?

Not really, many of people are still getting the flickering shadows. Turning shadow quality up might help, but also might give you a big performance loss.

I believe this is from the latest Nvidia drivers. I get flickering with shadows in other games as well and it is documented on other game forums that this is due to the latest Nvidia drivers. Some have gone back to the 178 series of drivers and the problem was resolved.

I had this happen to me with very high shadow quality and medium textures.

But i changed it to high shadow quality and high textures it fixed it.

There is no difference between high and very high on all settings the shadows look like crap.

Yeah I still have that, they look like little tiny square bits of dust fading in and out, totally awful to look at. I might try turning up the quality also and see if that gives better results, no holding my breath though.

Yeah well i run Medium shadows and its not that bad. on low its utter sh*te

New ATI drivers fixed mine. and medium qual shadows helps too.

 

if you tell the board more about your hardware its easier to help.

 

in general the shadow thing is not related to patches just graphics drivers. get and test all the recent ones.

Im way from the 180.84 to the more recent 181.22 and the flicker is the same. No other game has such issue, only gta4.

 

The problem is very much noticiable on somewhat near buildings, when they transition from the low detail to the local, detailed objects, and the shadows flicker like hell WHEN I MOVE AROUND.

 

The shadow doesnt flick STOPPED.
