dbh1313
Okay - I'm ready to go ahead and pickup at least one copy (probably two, for me and sister) of GTA IV PC on top of the 360 version I already have. My question now is whether or not the retail version (I love boxes + books!) will let me install it on my home PC and my work PC? I have heard the DRM in GTA IV is rather nasty... if this won't work, I'll have to go with the Steam version, which I hear works fine on any number of machines, provided they use the same Steam acct (which my home and work machines do). Can anyone confirm either of these cases for me before I shell out the cash? I'd love to go retail, but I do need to have it at work! Thanks! Girish
Wait, you're allowed to play at work? Let me know if there are any vacancies over there... And to answer your question, yes, I've heard that you can install the retail version on multiple computers. With the recent release of Securom's official no-cd launcher, you don't even need the disc to play the game. But you'll be able to play multiplayer on only one PC I guess. copperwire93
You lost money and time with steam . Ok seriously, it's better to buy retail version, no need to worry about DRM, like girishb said securerom have released official no-cd fix. Also, steam version is buggy
CharmingCharlie
I installed my retail copy of GTA 4 on both my PC's (one upstairs and one downstairs) there was never a problem with having the game installed on two machines. The only problem you might get is if you try to run BOTH at the same time.

dbh1313
Awesome! I was really nervous about the retail from what I had heard - that is great news! I love collecting the boxes, so this is perfect for me. Thanks for the help guys!

I love collecting the boxes, so this is perfect for me. Thanks for the help guys! i have the steam version i like it cause it has unlimited re-installs (unlike the box version) and you dont need to have steam running to run the game (frees up resources) all you have to do is make a new shortcut to GTAIV.exe and delete the 1 steam creates when the game installs i agree i like the box but the fact is that if i ever reformat a few times that disk may not work in the future (or if i get a new HD etc etc)
killer45acp
i have the steam version i like it cause it has unlimited re-installs (unlike the box version) The Retail version is also unlimited installations. I like the Retail Box, you get the Liberty City Area Street Map/poster and other stuff you don't with steam.
CharmingCharlie
This is straight from Rockstars copyright faq :- A. Yes. If you have the retail disc version you will just need to take the disc with you and you can play on an unlimited number of machines. For the digital download versions you can install the game on 5 different PCs at one time, and can always REVOKE a license from any of those machines at any time to allow more new installations on a total of 5 machines at any time. source :- Rockstar FAQ

chngdman
Steam version is not buggy, why do people talk out of their pre-pubescent asses? I have it and everyone on this board should know I run 30+ fps on 1.86ghz core2duo and 2 gigs of ram... That said, I'd go with the steam version because it does not require any license revokes or anything like that and it comes with that "official" no-dvd since day one. It is identical except it's easier to deal with securom... Identical. One has a book and requires a CD, the other does not.
