Is Rockstar doing anything ?!

Half life 2 was THE game back when. What has valve done since? Nothing that I have seen that keeps up with the times.

 

GTA 4 is moving along with the times just fine. Check out the progression of each game.

 

GTA 4 is a great game, I am not dissapointed. Yeah we all have things we wish they would have done but just because it doesnt, certainly doesnt make it a bad game.

 

Shut up with the port allready. If you could play it "The way it was meant to be played" you wouldnt be saying it is a port or a bad game.

 

If you cant play it....dont buy it. If you dont wait for reviews...it is your own fault. If you have a questionable system (Regardless of what the requirements call for) read -forums- first! Unless you are willing to shell out some money for an upgrade.

 

This isnt anything new. Requirements have been misleading forever. Unless you are a newby to PC gaming or you live in a closet, you should know this. I found the game didnt run the way I wanted at first so I upgraded and now it is beautifull. I also now have a system to keep me going for the next new games.

 

Actually I had a decent system that ran everything else cranked up but there is always a new game that will kick you in the nuts and say you need to move up. That is your decision......not ours....not Rockstars. So we really dont need to hear it.

 

"Oh but I have a high end sytem" Not high enough or something is wrong with your rig.

 

If I and all these others are playing it so well, it aint the coding. We all have the same disk. The game does run fantastic, but it seams many want Rockstar to help inch there system along by dumbing down the game instead of doing what they should be doing and bumping their system with whatever it takes.

 

I worry about installing patches because I am afraid they will dumb it down so low systems can play it.

 

Sorry to be so blunt but...get over it....move on. Save the game until the day you upgrade properly and you too will see the glory that is GTA 4 and you will know what all the "haves" are talking about.

my specs should play this game decently

and it does ...

for about 10 minutes

then my textures disappear

i expect problems the 1st week or so

then i would expect some real progress

Ok I agree with the reviews being sh*t. I was suckered a couple times that way. Ok read forums, they show all of the problems people have.

 

I was suckered somewhat recently with FARCRY 2 and Gamespot. Bunch of children or newbys with weak systems reviewing things they know nothing about.

 

I have been suckered many times over the years but I dont whine. It is a learning experience. How you take it is up to you.

 

I have bought electronics that failed way too early also but it has become a norm. So I now research everything before I buy. Buyer Beware!

when those games had issues they got fixed fast

or at least the client side issues were addressed and dealt with

 

neither has happened thus far with GTAIV

 

im glad you come to threads, that are looking for help or answers, to tell every1 that they should shut up and take it like you obviously do (must be 1 hell of a limp)

im glad to see you gloat that your games runs fine when its obvious its more than a few people with issues

Well let me ask you Dirty.......if these whiners read through this forum, what would they see? Times up. They would see all the issues going on with the game, and with that they can make a decision on taking a chance and buying it or not. Many have taken that chance and now they whine. They didnt have to buy it.

 

It IS that simple. Twist it any way you want, there is NO excuse. Nobody twisted their arms. Hey I dont blame anybody for wanting the game ...its GTA! But they made the decision, now live with it. Do what you have to do to run it or take it as another learning experience and REMEMBER it.

Well I am 40, I have a construction buisness, a nice house in a nice remote area, a beautifull wife, nice cars, toys, yada yada yada. So I will tell you what you can do with your maturity comment.

This is the problem with ignorant people. You tell them what they you want them to know AND THEY DONT F*CKING LISTEN.

 

First of all, San Andreas had AA because the Renderware engine allows AA to be coded in it.

Same for me.Though i started with the NES,and i'm about ten years younger.But yes GTAIV is the most unpolished game i have come across in my sixteen years of gaming. I wouldn't make such a big deal of it if it wasn't RockStar that did this to me/us.I mean out of all the companies my trust went to R* all these years.I have the whole GTA-series on my shelf,and with this one game they managed to destroy more then ten years of trust i have built up for them.I find that amazing.I remember how we all stayed in after school to play GTA on one of the machines,i think i was only 10 at the time but we loved it.I didn't become a mass-murdering animal nor did any of my friends.(Yeah ppl grow up,it's a game)Now it's just a sweet memory.It's sad to think that i won't be able to remeniss about GTAIV like that.But hope dies last.

 

Toronto should start to work for that money they took.And not screw up this time around.

Actually they do love the way I think.

 

I see things as white or black. No why why why why. I see what is put before me and deal with it. I dont complain "Why is the existing house so far out of square". I see what is dealt me and proceed with the best route to conquer it.

Buisness must be bad if you cant afford to even buy hardware that will SURELY run this game, considering you OWN the company. Instead you hang on this forum and complain it doesnt work right.

 

Take MY exact specs and build yourself a new system and I will personaly guarantee it will work great for you.

 

Or take somebodys higher spec than mine that also can run the game and build yourself a system from that.

Its not any wrong with our hardware, now tell me what options do we have when buying hardware ??? Intel or Amd... Ati or Nvidia, 2-4gb ram... maybe 8 and a common harddrive on an common mobo, all mobos use same chipsets from either Intel or Amd so common !? how hard can it be to code a game able to run on 2 diffrent brands ??? sickens me that you tell that its the hardware... OS you say, well what are the options ??? one manufacturer... ok i admit not a trusty company, full of bulletholes and bugs creeping all over but at least they provide hotfixes very fast

Because last time i checked, there isn't one! (only a fancy support page that's way beyond of being a forum)

This forum is by far the best about GTA series and it's the only one were i see R* posting answers... so i would say this is the unofficial-official R* forum about GTA.

When you tried every possible tweak and your system meets the recommend requirements and even exceeds it... But still you cant play and have to hard reset your PC... Well something's wrong and believe me IT's NOT YOUR HARDWARE!

You couldnt be farther from the truth. I can actually be a real hardass if need be. I do not let anybody get over on me. I prefer being nice and complacent and usually am but I am FAR from being a pushover! Within a short time after meeting me you would surely see that. So quit guessing.

 

I just couldnt see myself whining on a forum about a game that wouldnt run right. He (they) didnt have to buy it. They could read forums first. Hell he said he has been playing since the Atari days. He should know better.

 

Look back on my first posts when I got the game.. You will not see me whining about my problems. I did something about it and upped my PC and it did the trick. My PC was well within spec before I upgraded and it didnt run the way I wanted. I knew from experience that requirements meant nothing.

 

Once again THIS IS NOT ROCKSTARS FORUM. How loud does it need to be shouted? If this was my forum I would have put a stop to it before it started.
