As Flicko noted by my message in my post with the saves, the mission name on the left indicates the next mission you can play. Not the last mission completed.

Roger that, thanks for letting us know. The first post has been modified to what I now hope is correct (Again, cheers for the heads-up Spuds).

 

I'd like to take out this opportunity to thank everybody who has participated and helped make this topic a success. When I first took over the helm of VC led-by, I always wanted to refurbish this topic, but had no idea it would turn out as successful as this (I was initially apprehensive that we wouldn't actually get anybody willing to create save files). The overwhelming turn-out of this topic, given it's circumstances, is grade A stuff, and for that I am grateful. icon14.gif

Testing of ancestral gxt progress..

 

So far tested all non-asset properties purchased-- ok (asset properties not needed since you have to do their missions which are on the list)

 

Assets without missions--- Pole position lap dance-- ok (list this as "pole position club" in ancestral recall-- this means you need to complete the pole postion asset by getting the lap dance)

 

Street races- have verified all except VC endurance.

 

Unique jumps-- just verified it with the last post edit-- was able to complete the last jump on a save missing one with ancestral loaded and it stopped scrolling "unique jumps"-- was on a save with just 4 things left to do.

 

Left to check...

 

Hidden packages found

Rampages complete

Stolen car lists done

Now a slight problem... this is not biggie IMO but will need to decide how to sort this out...

 

The save files for the street races don't match what they say in the table-- found this when checking ancestral out...these were from looking at the stats not from looking at what ancestral was spitting out...

 

Save

16307-- No races done

16305-- Terminal Velocity is done

16303-- Term, & Ocean drive done

16304-- Term, Ocean drive, & Border Run done

16308-- Term, Ocean drive, Border run, & Capital Cruise done

16309-- Term, Ocean drive, Border run, Capital Cruise, & Tour done

 

The saves all beyond those in the table don't show VC endurance done (as well as some other races and also none of them show the stolen car lists done although the table indicates they are done), which is why I was unable to verify ancestral works for VC endurance (I don't doubt it does)--

 

-- I don't think this is a much of a problem

 

IMO the database of saves is there for one of two things, someone to start a game with certain stuff done or to be able to go back grab a save so they can do any mission any time they want-- sort of what Demarest did with his Timetwister mod-- with the non linear way missions are set up in VC with the assets, there is no way to make a list of saves to suit what anyone would want "already done" at any point after shakedown.

 

So IMO, a save with SSA purchased and enough money to do any race is sufficient or better yet, one with SSA purchased, ALL stolen car lists complete (so you can use the hotring racer for any race).

 

Or even (for racing)-- a save with SSA purchased, stolen car lists complete, Malibu club purchased so "the driver is available) but saved at skumole shack with Alloy wheels of steel available to do so you can grab the super angel and use if for any race (I keep a PS2 save of this)-- a custom save like this is more valuable then our list of stuff done IMO...

 

We do need to fix what is listed as done in the table but I don't think we need to replace the saves in the table with saves that indicate what is in the table.

 

Opinions on this???

Still need to verify rampages, VC endurance, robbing stores, and hidden packages... will at least do the hidden packages today... rampages will take a bit of time since there is no code tool to complete them-- timevault will pass them but I will have to go to each one..

Verified hidden packages work for ancestral...did find that ancestral will not work "right after" using shatterstorm to collect the packages-- just doesn't do anything.... but after completing anything else and then saving, ancestral will work on that save.

 

Also verified it works for VC-endurance (used timevault to pass that race)

 

Still need to verify

I suppose, looking at it that way, the possibilities for more save files to suit peoples' desires are vast and diverse, and can go on for a fair while. But as I've stated abut the missing Code Tools, I think that anything added to the database now will be considered as a bonus; the icing on top of a beautiful cake! It will still be extremely appreciated though, so if anybody wishes to create such files, please, do so! colgate.gif

 

Untiring work as per usual Spuds, the Ancestrall Recall device seems to be in a pretty decent state. I only hope it works for everything, something I'm sure you nerds will end up nailing. tounge.gif

Down to 2 things left to check-- my money is on it being fine....

 

I've also been running through a save completing everything with code tools-- timevault, shatterstorm, wanderlust... I'm trying to prove or disprove that you can get 100% with code tools--

 

Demarest's code tool for sunshine autos car lists is a dead link too... so I have to actually do collect all the cars for SSA... all I have left on that one is rampages, sunshine autos stolen cars (on 2nd list-- Virgo is holding me up), and robbing stores... will do these to test out the rest of ancestral recall as well.

Hopefully, rampages and Robbing stores especially are often missed/forgot, even though both are stated in the stats page. I'm sure though, that because they are in the stats, that if they don't register, it would be a pretty minor fault to an already proven Code Tool.

You mean you're re-hosting the Solarbond Code Tool? That's awesome, and if it were the case, it would mean that there would only be two Code Tools missing, and both of them are more minor ones, at least compared to the ones you already have hosted (Oriflamme & No Army).

Just finished verifying Ancestral works for rampages (last thing to check).

 

Also, for those that may be afraid to use timevault or other code tools.... I just finished a save, in which I did almost nothing... I used Timevault to pass every mission and side mission, I used wanderlust to complete all unique jumps, and I used shatterstorm to collect all hidden packages-- the only thing I did was collect cars for sunshine autos and rob the stores-- everything else was done by use of code tools-- and I was able to get 100% on my save-- so it did credit mission points properly for EVERYTHING and should not prevent you from getting 100%...

 

FYI-- the time for 100% on this save was 5 hours 20 minutes.

Two fantistic things to take not of in one post...?! Truly fantastic!

 

This will diminish any doubt members may have, in regards to using each Code Tool. And with a fully functional Ancestrall recall tool, it is guaranteed to aid members who, for no love or money can find what exactly they are missing in order to get 100% (This topic is a prime example).

 

I'd like to extend my thanks to you Spuds for all of your hard work and graft in making this topic better and better with every post you've made. Without you (and Unlimited) this wouldn't be half as impressive as what it is.

Hah, no worries there. I think all the hard graft and tedious work has already been done. Wouldn't expect something as problematic and time-consuming as Ancestrall recall occuring in the near future. colgate.gif

New Code Tool found - Oriflamme!

Just a heads up, this topic is the only place where you can get Dem's code tools from-thanks to Spuds for rehosting them. smile.gif It seems Tfads.com has been removed from Archive.org. I keep getting a site has been blocked by owner message when accessing it.-that is on both IE 6, IE7, and IE 8-I used for testing. So if you need any code tools for VC, you have to get them here.

I believe the domain name "www.tfads.com" has been purchased by someone else and this is what is causing the conflict by webarchive.com-- it is quite possible that the archived sections are gone for good.

I have DLed most (if not all of Dem's) stuff that was hosted off the archived site-- if someone needs something, just ask.

 

I will eventually re-host his more useful stuff and list them here... I have rehosted his unique jump slo-mo bug fix for someone already... this disables the slo-motion completely for all the unique jumps... (in case someone needs this)

I've been under the impression that the site has been down for a fair while now, thus the need for Spuds to re-host them. Thanks for taking the time out to confirm on a number of browsers, this further proves that the Downloads database really is the place to go for more definitive help! icon14.gif

 

Spuds, looks like the fix did come into use almost immediately - here. Great timing is what I say!
