Alright guys, the map is still new so there isn't much to blow up. Maybe a evening is better, but considering the server is only a few days old we are still learning what to do. We consider a grief day as something where people could let their hair down, and destroy everything they didn't like.

 

Taking the server down again, and will resume normal operation when it is back up.

Edit: Nevermind. I restarted Flash and FireFox crashed, after it restored I tried again and now it's uploading fine.

I haven't checked the server yet, but dayyyyyum! I can't recognise anything from those pics! haha, great stuff.

Automated cart between spawn and town should work now unless you hit a cow or something, or the empty cart lags out on the return trip. Button in the town station is in a kind of awkward position though because I had to drop incoming carts onto a ramp to deal with the speed differences. In retrospect, it might have been easier to skip the automation and just leave a chest full of carts at each end.

Nice work illspirit, we left a chest full of carts on the temp server. It wasn't too bad, however when people start building more and more minecart systesm, then chances are people may 'borrow' one of them, lol. If we do get multiple rail systems it would be nice to join them up in some form of station.

Alright guys it seems we have someone amongst us who cannot keep their hands to themselves, the chestlock protection screwed up for me leaving my chests unlocked, as a result I have had things taken from them. It has spoiled it for me that I have to ensure my chests are locked before logging off the server, and having to have this protection in the first place.

Looks like it is time to make traps.

 

I noticed my chests no longer "belonged to me" last night. I locked my ore box though, I don't feel like going through each and every box and locking them though considering I have over 70 boxes.

 

I try to make sure my boxes are locked, but it seems like every time the server resets the chest protection is undone.

 

Although, just because a chest isn't locked is no excuse to steal from it. This notion has been set in people's minds by other servers where the rule is "if it isn't locked everyone is free to take from it". We either need a more reliable system of locking chests or we need to find out who is stealing items. To anyone who has been taking item's from other people's chests please consider this, stealing items from other members, no matter how insignificant the items may be can cause create inconvenience for someone else.

 

Also, please remember every server has a log of when everyone was online, it isn't hard to narrow down the results and find out who has been stealing, unless of course there is a massive amount. Your instincts might be too much for you too handle, you may have the impulse to steal (we have all been there) but I implore you to do the opposite, anyone who has stolen anything in the past, please discreetly return anything to their owner's chests. It is nothing personal, but we are all a fairly decent community and many of us know each other. Don't spoil a good server like this, there are plenty of other Minecraft servers which you can f*ck over if you absolutely must. (Not that I endorse this action.) But at least take it someplace else.

 

In short, please return any items you have taken discreetly and no one needs to know it was you, and remember the more items that are taken the easier it will be to identify you.

I actually never locked my chest that has diamonds, gold, irons, and stuff. The only chests that I always lock is my farm chests, don't know why though.

 

I think it's time that ALL houses has to have iron doors, and put the lever INSIDE so once your about to log off, go to your house, lock all the doors, and log out.

Then whoever it is would just break the block under the door, rob your house, then replace door..

 

What we need is a mod which lets users make special chests which, when opened, cause zombies to constantly spawn and attack the person who opened it (think Boomer vomit/vial from L4D..) until the chest owner or an op turns it off. The uncertainty of whether opening any given chest will result in becoming undead chow would be a great disincentive. And thieves would be easily identified by the crowd of shambling "fans" following them around eating their face.

The only option is to just hide your chests, I do.

This is why I have a place hidden underground just outside of the city. I think oysterbarron and GK know where it is.

Lol the thief is out there looking at the topic going! right he doesnt lock his chests nor does he, talk about making yourselves into targets! we will find out who it is eventually, My advice to you is to take screenies of anyone who enters houses randomly or you suspect!

I'm going to look at writing my own chest protection script, since we're having issues with this one. There is no reason it should be failing, even after a server reset. Since it stores a database of chests, owners and the location of them.
