That's why it will have a whitelist but as people are on at different times its up to people to report anyone who is up to no good.

Yeah, kind of like a financial district, haha. Then you'll have the space where people build their houses for a kind of residential area.

I like to build HUGE, massive skyscrapers and superstructures. Grids should be divided into 64x64 blocks then subdivided into 32x32. Larger structures would obviously take up the 64x64 area, while residential areas (homes apartments, etc) could fit nicely into a 32x32 area. Anything accommodating 64x64 blocks should offer services or have some sort of purpose other than being someone's home.

 

Everything else should be built outside of the settlement without restriction. Eventually we could make new settlements if enough people build in one area, then connect everything by road systems.

There really isn't much to tell yet, we're still waiting for the payment and sh*t to process so the permanent server it's live. You can give me your Minecraft name so I can add you to the whitelist for when the server does go online though.

There is only the temporary server at the moment, but there will be requirements to get on the server in the first place, we've not decided on them as off yet, but it will probably be a member of the forums for a couple of months, with a some decent posts under your belt.

So even if you meet the first two requirements, and just randomly drop into the mc topic and ask for access you'll probably be denied, need to show interest in the topic.

Also when I mentioned 10 player limit that was how many people could be on at one time.

 

I kind want to keep this map organic, with too many rules it will lose it's communal feeling. That's why I am scared of the bukkit mod.

The rules are only simple, no draconian rules we still want it to be fun for all, but the joining requirements ensure that we weed out any trouble causers before they can cause trouble.

I was using a friends copy of Minecraft for a while, but that got disabled, so I've been Minecraftless the last month or two. Gonna try and buy it in the next few weeks. Would definitely be interested in playing on the server.

Me and Gangsta Killa agreed that the Bukkit mod won't really be needed for the server, especially if it's a very small, vanilla server. With the whitelist and the rules we've laid down I don't think we'll need such an elaborate system for our dinky server, it's much more suited for large public servers.

 

We can reassess later on, but for the time being I think we'll be all right with the default options.

If we maintain the link between forum accounts and the server, then people may be less inclined to cause trouble on the server. *waves banstick around*. We're basing the server on trust, trust that you won't steal from other people or break their buildings / break into their home should it be locked.

I'll be happy to create a base map for us, a small grid with a common building and different size lots, allowing for further expansions.

Well you'd just have to wait for when a slot becomes available, if it turns out the server is constantly filled up, then upgrading the slots would be undertaken.

 

We won't have 'reserved' slots, it will be on a first come first served basis, if you're on the whitelist.
