Well i thought my laptop did well considereing its been hosting strait for 15hours! more pictures from the days happnins.

 

ive passed the map on to tubbs now, Ottae is the plan to host this map on your server as we have all started to contribute to it allready? weve been having a blast if this is what it is going to be like when the proper GTAF server is up im really looking foward to it!

Yeah pretty much carrying on from where you guys left off! I'll let you know when the server's ready to go and whoever had the map last can pass it on to me so I can stick it on the server

Alright it took me awhile to figure out how to limit what part gets renered in cartographer, I also got busy doing somehting else.

I can't wait, I've been waiting for a GTAF server for a long time. You just can't trust these people on these large random survival servers.

 

I am looking forward to this, it's been a while since I've played on a decent server.

Right, just merged an oooold topic of mine which had no replies with this one so I have ze first post hope Kimd doesn't mind! Thought it would be easier to control the server with me as the topic starter I've updated it with info about GTAF's World and the future server.

@Ottae My sig is a sacred place, you can't touch that.

 

Also I have noticed my spelling has gotten worse since minecraft. I type fast to get things out so that we don't mess something up or I can get back to working on stuff, but I mess up. since I need to do it fast I don't care about making my words correct and now I am doing it everywhere....haha. You can see in that one picture of oysters.

 

I have also noticed that I have no will to work on my own house, but will build, then rebuild the path to tubbs house.....

 

I want a cool skin and was browsing for skins, and I realized, F it I am going to make my own!

The server we were playing on was a temp thing, not planned. (not up anymore) It was actually running on oysters laptop, ran ok with just four people.

 

This new one is Ottae graciously upping to a 10 slot server.

We are planning a whitelist, probably the bukkit mod to protect our items.

 

This is a gtaforums only server (to my knowledge) and you have to have been here longer than a month, to make sure nobody joins here just to play on here and possibly grief.

 

You last three have been here longer than me, thus you guys are good.

 

Ottae does not have the server running yet because apparently it takes 5 days or whatever.

 

That's everything I know about it up to now.

Well the plan is today im going to put the server up for those who didnt have the chance yesterday (allthought this is just a mess about day as the map has now been passed on) NOTHING WILL BE SAVED TO THE REAL MAP AS I DONT HAVE IT ANYMORE SO DONT START BUILDING CATHEDRALS HOPING TO RESUME WHEN IT HOSTS ON OTTAES SERVER . You guys can explore and see the map first hand. Im going to send the IP to those who have asked yesterday but wernt on the list.

 

Any other people who wish to view it i hope gangsta killa tubbs or xboxless wont mind if you request the IP from them via PM just for today as im out again!

 

Like i said to the members i just sent the IP to dont resend the IP out to others unless your the people stated above PLZ

 

If it lags out or crashes through to many people theres no getting it back up till im back later.

It's sounding good! I think we need to get some rules established, and people need to be aware that their actions on the server will also effect their forum account, so anyone caught stealing or whatever may face a verbal warning on the forums.

Yes, definitely. I imagine most of the rules are just going to be common sense:

 

•No griefing

•No stealing resources, ask to borrow first

•Give each other respect

 

etc. I'll make a section about rules and their consequences on the forum as well.

 

In the mean time, I need everyone to let me know their Minecraft names so I can get together a white list now, rather than messing about when the server goes live. I'll edit the front page with the white list so you know you're definitely on it.

Those rules make sense, although with chest protection stealing shouldn't be an issue, also no breaking into others homes if they are secured by locks.

Yeah, maybe elect someone as city planner or someone to make sure people are getting equal space and that there isn't any conflicts involving who's using what land.

We could create a kind of grid system and each members has their own specific lot. That way you won't get people overbuilding and taking up too much of the town and it'll be easy to find your way around. Hey, works for New York!

The question is how big of a lot, can players decide how big they want their lot and also how many lots can one player have?

If we lay down some roads to mark out each lot space and make each lot roughly the same size. I don't see why someone can't have more than 1 lot, but as long as it's kept to the grid system it's no big deal.

 

I mean it's just a suggestion, we might want to just let it grow more organically and if anything is made that doesn't really fit or is just plain obscene, we can ask them to either modify it or just tear it down.

Considering how big minecraft can be, I can't see why that would be a problem. More cities = more need for a railway system, and if 1.5 has powered track, looks easier to do.

I agree, there's no reason why a road can't go up and over a hill though, or through a mountain if necessary! (I've done both on my map).

 

But yeah, I think as long as no one makes anything stupidly huge inside the city, it'll be fine. The map is near enough infinite anyway so if someone does want to build a huge structure, they can do so outside of the city.

 

@MLVD - I imagine that'll end with a more segregated community though, if people go off and build their own city they may as well just play single player

 

@Gangsta Killa - That's true... Perhaps if it were a few people per city to keep the MP aspect intact?

this all sounds awesome, really (: too bad i can't join in I hope this turns out good and i'll be eager to check out the screenshot every now and then on the gallery....though beware of the trolls on this forum...with such alot of members griefers are kind of inevitable but i hope the banstick gets used fast enough
