kriller2
This mod takes IV to a whole new level, simply amazing! Everything is looking ace, except that during certain weather conditions in daytime, the water has this VC-like blue color... Is it supposed to look like this or is it a bug: (click to enlarge) Hi Krailer, Can you tell me what time of day and how the weather setting was set when you saw this? It might be a bug, it's difficult to test all weather conditions, because of how the engine uses the weather settings and creates the in betweens real time. f.ex if it's raining and the water is dark, then if the weather changes to sunny the water colour will change to the middle of blue and grey. etc. etc.

Here's a couple of screenshots taken in the morning and late afternoon: It's probably some a bug of some sort with sunny weather, because under rainy and foggy conditions it looks amazing. Murcchachosa
No, its not a bug. This happen when you use the FarClp 3500. If you change the 3500 to 1500 (default), then it will be normal.

TheRealPcGamer
Yea kriller2, you must edit the water. It looks really like Vice City and it's not good, the default LC water is much better
Djwid63
I tried using this mod, and it worked for the first minute then everything just lagged like crazy. Even after turning down the texture quality to medium, it still lagged. I usually get 48-55fps average in the benchmark tool, this time I got 29fps. I even removed my commandline, which consisted of availablevidmem 1.3, noprecache and percentvidmem 100, and I only play at 1024x768 due to my CRT. I dunno why, I followed the instructions in the .zip file. Specs: HD 4870 512MB Phenom X4 [email protected] 3.25GB RAM Can anybody help?
thales100
Yea kriller2, you must edit the water. Kriller2, is it possible to have the "normal" water without losing any of the new env settings ?

thales100
Open timecyc.dat with Word and replace all "3500" into "1500" lol no man, i want farclip 3500, ive played with it almost since GTA 4's release, and water was "normal" - just after installing the mod the water became blue, so i want to know if its possible to have the same mod's settings (including farclip 3500) plus "normal" water back. OLDCell
Yea kriller2, you must edit the water. Kriller2, is it possible to have the "normal" water without losing any of the new env settings ? Yes, its possible. Open timecyc.dat with Word and replace all "3500" into "1500" That kind of worked but still has an overly saturated colour like VC... Some hours it looks fine others it does not and spray goes from being white/grey to brown during some hours of the day cycle. Its odd I think a new water texture might help with the new timecycle settings so the colours match/blend better as the original water texture is an odd grey/blue colour. Any ideas people?? drytaffin
And I've got a suggestion: Could you change brown tree's LOD to the Greens' one
kriller2
And I've got a suggestion: Could you change brown tree's LOD to the Greens' one I looked in all of the game files to find the files which control how the trees looks like and changed them, including the LOD's which it seems is in the gtxd.img "treelods.wtd", so they should be green now, but I can allso see the brown colour on the trees sometime , so : A. There is one file I hadn't changed somewhere hiding. B. GTA4 is going back to default LODS's when it runs out of cache.

Hi Thales, that's possible but then the realistic blue water will be gone and the brown colour of the water from stock GTA4 will come back. The water around the new york harbour is in the blue/cyan colour sometimes: New York: Yea kriller2, you must edit the water. It looks really like Vice City and it's not good, the default LC water is much better No I wont turn the water back to stock RealPcGameer , but I can try to decrease the blue colour at special times of day and work some more on the water for a patch? Hi Djwid63, That sounds like the new textures for the trees is not defragmented, read this thread about a program called contig.exe from Microsoft which is a defragment-tool that only defragment the part of your harddisk where the GTA4 is placed: Contig thread Or you can try uninstall the mod and only copy the "timesyc.dat" to the "PC/data" and the "visualsettings.dat" and the "carcols.dat" to common\data and defragment your harddrive with the above program / any other defragmenter. Then you will run the mod without the new textures for trees, but still get all the other environment changes I did in the timesyc.dat and visualsettings.dat. Let me know if it works. El Dildo
I think the water looks fine how he did it. Let's be honest, the STOCK visual settings in GTA4 give the game an overall feeling of "brown" and "desaturated." Now I think they did that on purpose (similar to the film grain in Mass Effect) to give the game a certain feel, but I think colorful and vibrant looks the most realistic. In the game you can see people's breath as if it were cold, but the trees are full and green so it can't be winter or fall. I think now the water looks more like it would on a crisp New York spring day, which that's perfect. I don't think he should change it.
