I had to sneak it with my little cousin though, we took it out of my big cousin's room and would play it when the parents weren't around. Now it's hilarious because I play San Andreas and Vice City in front of my parents all the time (so does my cousin at his house) and they don't care anymore, haha. Always played the San Andreas evel and messed about blowin sh*t up..the glitches in that game were incredible...anyone witnessed the exploding police cars chasing you? George Brosnan Posted March 2, 2009 Share Posted March 2, 2009 My father brought it for his PS1 the day after it was released, that was when i was 6 going on 7, he never really played it, and one time when i woke up early and went downstairs, i set the PS1 up, and played it, I found it hard cos it was one of the first non-disney crap game that i had playd, i got to vice city when my father came down stairs and went nuts, I still have my fathers copy, i have the game completed on my ps1 memory card and on an internal memory card on the PS3. zeppelincheetah Posted March 24, 2009 Share Posted March 24, 2009 it came out in the UK in 1997. in America it came out in 1998. first time i played it was 2nd semester of freshman year of high school. i was almost 15 years old - 1999. my best friend at the time had it on his PC and every time i went over to his house we played it for an hour or two. back then it was amazing and I was awestruck with it. the graphics didn't matter because of the fantastic gameplay! you could steal cars! you could kill innocent people! so different from anything i'd played before and so much fun! trickstar34 Posted April 4, 2009 Share Posted April 4, 2009 My first GTA I played was in about 2001 with the origonal GTA, then I lost and didn't play any untill about 2006 which I played GTA 3 (but I did not own it), and downloaded the free versions of GTA and GTA 2, then about a month later I got San Andreas, beat it, 2007 I beat GTA LCS, and last month got GTA Vice City Stories. Heihachi_73 Posted April 12, 2009 Share Posted April 12, 2009 Used to have the game many years ago on my Pentium 166, had to run it in DOS mode for a speed boost (strangely, under Windows it was limited to 24-bit but DOS showed 32-bit). Unfortunately I got rid of it with a lot of other games when moving. Picked it up again from R* along with GTA2 in about 2007 but haven't touched the game yet. I was only seven at the time though, granted, so I didn't really grasp the concept of the game. Though I did play it a few years ago and found it to be a blast. This was the order I played the games in: GTA 1 GTA 2 GTA Vice City GTA III GTA San Andreas GTA Liberty City Stories GTA Vice City Stories GTA IV GTA Chinatown Wars GTA London belongs in there somewhere, but I cannot remember when I played it. The game was then stolen by my stupid brother who sold it , she got me another one the same day. I played that for many hours, I remember playing a demo of it. PHRobertson Posted May 19, 2009 Share Posted May 19, 2009 I didn't get a full copy of the original until mid to late 99, but I had a demo for the PC before then, and I had a friend in Strontian who had it for the PS1 (this wouldve been 1998 - definitely before I got my first Playstation in December 99). The original GTA came out for the PC towards the end of 1997 (same time as Tomb Raider 2 and Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight), which is about the time I turned 10. By then I'd been playing Duke Nukem 3D for at least a year or two (and yet, I have never killed a single person or blown, well, anything up).
