[REL|FINAL] Realistic Driving

I played 1.06 for some hours, and its fantastic smile.gif The handling is very good.

The only thing i miss is that stock car or truck explosions dont affect nearby cars. Even with the bigger explosions mod its hard to create a chain reaction... Its just a bit weird, that a bus explodes in the traffic, and cars near it go away almost without damage...

Basically you are right, but its a lot of fun to see exploding cars biggrin.gif Well, no extreme damage, but i think at least every vehicle should be set on fire, if a grenade explodes within 1 meter... or so.

 

About the spawning, ive seen vehicles now in game, wich i havent met in the past 2 months since i play gta4 biggrin.gif For example the Aston Martin, or even the 911 Turbo wich ive found only 1 time before. Its nice to see some murcielagos, and corvettes too. The piaggios are a bit too much imo, at least in algonquin they dont fit the theme. But the busses are also driving all around, so its fun smile.gif

- some of the cars do the "bumping tyre" sound all the time... i enter them when they are undamaged, and they do this sound as if a tyre would blow just in a second... i dont know why.

- Full accelerate with the NRG900 downhill, and you will crash immediately smile.gif Somehow it raises the nose a bit, and in that second the rear touches the ground, and Nico flies.. (not a big problem tough)

hmm. i never experienced this sound problem. are you sure its due to my mod?

 

about the NRG900: i did lots of crazy things but i never fell off the bike except when hitting a car/building biggrin.gif

A very good mod, if you are a car driver. Cars handle real well now, and I enjoy that part.

 

If you're a biker though... you're SOL. The Harley analogs (Hellfury I guess?) handle like crap, it's damn near impossible to corner on one of them without slowing down to a crawl. Why'd you mess up the bikes so much?

i spent most of the time on car handling and the pcj600 and nrg900.

just drove the hellfury 15 minutes ago. i have been working on bikes for the last 20 hours (dlc bikes too) but that doesnt mean theres gonna be another release anytime soon.

 

Edit: this is what i have changed, not sure whether there will be a release:

 

-made new handling for bikes and optimized them for cruising (except NRG900)

-Faggio: new handling, centre of mass

-Bobber: new handling

-Zombie: new handling

-Hellfury: new handling

-pcj600: handling

-nrg900: handling

-Comet: handling

-Infernus: brake bias

-Vincent: handling

-Blista: new handling, centre of mass

-Esperanto: brake bias

-Flatbed: handling

i wasn't planning on releasing another version of this mod but i gotta admit that i focussed mainly on cars with my last releases.

yesterday i tried to add the DLC bikes to the mod but failed like everybody else. while driving the DLC bikes i realized that choppers can be fun to drive and that i didnt pay enough attention to them when i made this mod.

i have been working for 20 hours on a new handling for every bike and the result is quite good (no tradeoffs this time), so it looks like there will be another release. sometime.

 

version 1.07 is for all the bikers out there.

features: more realistic handling for every bike.

 

what i have changed so far:

 

PCJ and NRG:

-dont feel like glued to the ground anymore.

-can use handbrake to slide

-burnouts possible

-braking in turns now has disadvantages

-new turning radius

-adjusted turning animation

 

Zombie, Freeway and Hellfury:

-realistic acceleration

-realistic top speed

-realistic brake strength

-new turning radius

-adjusted turning animation

-optimized for cruising

 

Faggio:

-decreased acceleration

-new turning radius

-adjusted turning animation

 

i didnt work on Sanchez yet.

suggestion for sanchez: make it more easy to climb cars with sanchez, this way you can do monster-truck-sanchez-riding tounge.gif

sounds interesting, but i would have to increase the wheel radius and i guess that would look kinda strange biggrin.gif

 

i have just finished the new bike handling. its waaay better than the old handling, but right now i am not in the mood to release tounge.gif

right now i am reworking the cars again. i looked up manufacturers specifications for every car and now i am adjusting the cars accordingly to the data. (acceleration, top speed, weight, gears). when i am done with that i will release v1.07

 

1.07 features (in a nutshell):

-perfect bike handling

-realism update for all cars

Will this mod also affect the handling online?

you have to switch back to the original handling.dat b4 playing online. you can have both in the same folder, just rename the one you are not using.

 

 

man this is killing me. reworking all the cars takes too much time and is sooo boring! in order to get the accelerations right, i have to race every friggin vehicle (there are 110) against the clock - over and over again.... sad.gif

 

expect the 1.07 release in 24 hours. thats how long reworking the cars will take...

I tried both your 1.5v Mod and 1.7

 

 

FEEDBACK is, Firstly the 1.7 mod is better than 1.5 in for the Car Driving.

 

 

 

The Main Problem in v1.7 is the Bike handles Crap!

 

Mainly the NRG900 is a now a Mess!

 

I'll Explain, when you get your Knee down on a low speed corner the bike tends to spin out ....NRG900

 

 

In v1.5 it handled good but the problem there was if you used the handbrake turn button (xbox360 pad RB)the Camera did'nt respond properly, that was fixed in v1.7

 

 

 

Thats the Only problem.

I like the bike handling, it is kinda getting realistic, I've had some great moments by both Sanchez and speedbikes this afternoon. It is a lot better than previous build.

 

Cars have been perfect for a while (I follow it from 1.04) , I just love this kind of handling. This is how it should have been done originally, now the vanilla seems so lame.

To tell you the truth I cannot really tell the new handling from the previous, I still find it totally satisfying.

the bike is not a mess. i spent 20 hours to make it as realistic as possible in GTA IV.

 

the bike only spins out when you take a hard turn at 100% throttle. in real life this would even happen at 50% throttle. So the handling is still very forgiving. I have no problem to race like a maniac even in heavy rain. (keyboard)

all you have to do is to avoid braking and accelerating in hard turns. like in real life.

 

there are 2 ways to "fix" your "problem":

1. make the bike a 4WD biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

2. Disable the handbrake and some other physics

If the mod is emphasizing on real life, then I simply can't comprehend how a bike can perform a handbrake turn? but due to handbrake turn being so much Fun in the game, I guess that's why you implemented it in your mod.

version 1.07 is awsome! for your next version make helicopter handling

i am a good pilot, but i am not interested in flying in GTA IV. i prefer REAL flight simulators wink.gif

(and Joysticks, with at least 32 buttons biggrin.gif)

 

 

about handbraking with bikes, there are 2 two reasons why it was implemented:

1. its fun! and not THAT unrealistic. when i was a kid, i liked to slide around corners with my bicycle biggrin.gif

2. many many many players complained about the fact that the handbrake was missing. many.
