GuruAskew 1 Posted February 16, 2009 Are there any free demos on Xbox Live that are in the 2 gig range? You could obviously download it and get a good idea of how long it will take. On the other hand, the big x-factor is how the servers will handle the inevitable flood of simultaneous downloads.

That's what it says in R*'s Email. No, that is when Xbox Live Gold goes free for GTA players. Also, on my Xbox demos that are near 1 Gig usually take maybe 5-10 minutes to download, so i'm expecting a 15-25 minute wait.
Seddo 13 Posted February 16, 2009 Mine from Seattle isn't to bad... I wasn't expecting that much.
GuruAskew 1 Posted February 16, 2009 This is one of the geekiest things I've ever done. I was just looking through the demos. The "Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3" demo is exactly 1.5 gigs. There were bigger ones that are likely closer to the size of "The Lost and Damned" but I still maintain that they probably rounded up and it's probably closer to 2 gigs than 1 but still not quite 2. In any case, I started to download the "C&C:RA3" demo. I was growing impatient waiting for it to finish as I have no desire to play the demo itself. I let it run to the 33% mark which would work out to 25% of a 2-gig download. It took me just about 12 minutes (it was just under 12 minutes and 10 seconds) to download half a gig of this demo. Basically that means that I'm looking at something near a 49-minute download. Of course, again there are two big factors: the actual size of the download and the strain on the servers from everyone else downloading it. I thought it would be much longer. GuruAskew 1 Posted February 16, 2009 Yeah but if the download is less than 2 gigs (and again, I seriously doubt it's exactly 2 gigs, they almost certainly rounded it) that might actually offset whatever drop in speed occurs when everyone starts downloading it. RATEDR307 0 Posted February 16, 2009 I don't get why Rockstar just doesn't release a disc version of the Lost and Damned, so that way people with sh*tty connections don't have to wait 5 hours to download it and so that way people who don't even have XBL can play it. Enjoii 7 Posted February 16, 2009 anyone know approx time for Australian people.. DJBBOY There's no way to give a reliable estimate purely based off your country. Do a Speedtest to a server somewhere in the US and that'll give a better idea.

So it should be interesting to see what happens. DJBBOY

Der_Don 318 Posted February 16, 2009 How long will it take to download TLAD?
junafani 0 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) How long will it take to download TLAD? 3 hours and 41 minutes if it comes at full speed. This link has good calculator. Just put your download speed to modem speed box. Put Network Efficiency to 100% as I think speed test will include it. Put File Siza to 2000 megabytes as we do not know how big it exactly is. But remember that you might get it slower as Microsoft may have busy servers. Edited February 16, 2009 by junafani

ObsessedWithGTA4 0 Posted February 16, 2009 Does MS track and log how many downloads there were at a specific time? Like when you login to XBOX Live and go to TLAD, does it say how many times it was downloaded? Would be curious to see how many DL's in the first day and first week. Yes, M$ surely track the amount of downloads along with the account names etc, but they don't release the information and there's no public view available for the download number. Seddo 13 Posted February 16, 2009 I'm pretty sure they will release a statistic of how many Xbox Live users download the Lost and Damned in a certain amount of hours just so they can gloat. Microsoft like releasing little stats every now and again .
