Alright cheers, could be something I've overlooked. There isn't any error checking within the script to catch any unexpected errors.

Well I'll be Lost and Damned! I discovered a Binkhook.dll in my folder that was to like a small trainer like the Controle Center like one of the first ones out and it was in the folder during all those crashes i have taken it out and installed your mod again and i just got done playing for over an hour and every thing was fine. So slap me in the face and call me corn bread. lol I will add though that there is a problem with Moble Fueling the truck spawns in the middle of the street side ways and or gets stuck in a corner of a building or something and i have to drive to it, just thought i let you know.

So now i am wondering if a couple of other mods will work as well with out a hitch, HMMM?

But if problems do occur will post the log at that time.

Thank You, and Thank You For an Awesome Freaking mod.

I've changed the way the mobiel refueling truck works in 2.1. Rather then spawn and it comes to you, it should now just drive randomly around the city. It obeys traffic laws, and doesn't have a target so it should be easier to work with.

Nice! I hope aru makes something like it soon, i like the c++ best.

I'm uploading a video now, it shows the "secret" thing tounge.gif

Leopard

can you not make it more realistic that you get a max of 100 liter and a car drive like around 1 on 20. that would be much more cheaper and realisctic. i now paying with a price of 12 dollar for 10 liter around the 1200 for a full tank.

In 2.2 each car will have its own tank size and fuel drain rate.

You have the wrong version. On the 2.1 release, there shouldn't be any random spawns.

Nice work Andy, very swish. While testing out I think I may have found a bug - when trying to fill up at the Steinway Steal Fuel location it told me I had no money and it wouldn't fill up the car (I had ~$850 at the time). I got 2 stars for it regardless tounge.gif

Hello out there...

I have read most of the entire thread here.. and was quite amazed by it.

The need of GAS or Petrol was the first lack I noticed for myself in GTA IV.

And it seems you have done a pretty good job... but I cannot enjoy it...

Till now I have just messed arround with some*.asi-mods... in GTA IV.

Just like, Dashboardview, CarSelector and PlayerSelector...

But your PetrolMod really makes me wanna get this "scripthookdotnet-thingy" to work... but I don´t get it.

Don´t know what I am doing wrong, and it would be a pleasure getting help in here.

Situation:

-GTAIV version 1.0.2.0

-Blades ASI-Loader installed

-I put ScriptHookDotNet.asi in the main GTAIV directory (same like the ASI-loader is located)

-the "scripts"-folder I put in there also..

-and your Petrol-mod-scripts I put in the "scripts"-folder

Result:

-a window pops up when I start GTAIV that says something about an CRT not initialized.

-Errorcode R6030 when I recall it right... have a moment..

When I am not totally wrong, that´s it, right?

But why can I, douchbag, don´t get it to work?

Please... I could die for a GAS, erm... PETROL-MOD.

hey man, try xliveless as your asi loader.. i use it and have no problems with this mod

also you got .net framework 3.5?

haha just rememberd something, try checking out your gta folder.. see if your asi loader has made any error logs, when i first started using mine i had crashes due to files being placed in the worng folder. and it said this in the error log.

Thanks for the response..

So I tried xliveless a few minutes ago... but no succes.

Now when I start GTAIV (it doesn´t matter which exe I try) I get an error: "binkhooked not found"

WUAH!

I will have some fun with messing around today... *sigh*

Edit: Ok, no Error now... but when I load my savegame it crashes.

May be I have to overlook where my savegames are and should be..

CU^^..

hey guys... really like what i see here smile.gif

I have one suggestion for fuel consumption/efficiency of the vehicles.

if there is any way to tell what percentage of the throttle is being used..... that should directly effect the fuel efficiency of a vehicle..... the more throttle the more fuel is being consumed and coasting would use less fuel.... that would be more realistic than basing fuel consumption entirely on vehicle speed.

For example:a car going 5 miles per hour at full throttle with the tires burning rubber burns more fuel than a car traveling at 5 miles per hour using 3% of the throttle.... the same basic concept would also be applicable to boats and helicopters.

im not much of a programmer but i do know the physics of how an internal combustion power plant works in detail...... great work guys!

There isn't away of getting the RPM just yet, however Hazard has said he has something for the net version of the scripthook.

@Straubinger82, Just use any up to date ASI loader. With xLiveLess, it moves the saves files. It should be in the xLiveLess read me where its moved them to.

rpm would be a close second but is not precisely what i was getting at.

The throttle percentage would not be the same as the RPM..... gear ratios change as you speed up and therefore the RPM would vary up and down as you go through the gears..... throttle percentage would be checking the values of the throttle button/trigger/pedal and multiplying that by an efficiency factor value to calculate fuel mileage.

Or to be more specific fuel consumption by a time scale dictated by the volume of fuel you are pumping to the power plant by actuating the throttle.

When you crack the throttle on any internal combustion engine what you are doing in its most simplest terms is opening its mouth to allow more oxygen in and dumping a larger volume of raw fuel into that mouth for combustion.

The same can be said with any turbine engine like a jet or turbine powered helicopter..... the more throttle the more fuel you dump in to burn.

I can see where you would think that RPM would be directly fixed with throttle percentage but that is not accurate.......hence why you have to tune carbureted vehicles depending on altitude, barometric pressure, and humidity for best combustion..... fuel injected vehicles do those adjustments automatically with the ECM.

In a real fuel injection system the throttle position sensor tells the fuel injector circuits how many pulses to send each injector per cycle which translates in to how much fuel you are telling it to send to the engine.......simultaneously you are opening up the throttle body and allowing more air to mix with that fuel which gives the engine a burst of horsepower...... then the oxygen sensor sends a report of gas mixture values back to the ECM and it adjusts the amount of fuel you are pouring in to bring the exhaust gases within specs for maximum efficiency.

Want a real world test?

Zero out your trip odometer and drive around for a full tank of gas doing nothing but stomping the throttle to the floor to get up to the speed limit.... record the miles traveled and gallons filled in the tank.

Zero out your trip meter again and then drive your car like a grandma..... ease in to the throttle and accelerate smoothly....use the throttle only enough to get you comfortably and quickly up to speed..... record the miles traveled and gallons filled in the tank.

Ah I see what you're getting out now. Sadly I don't think there is any way of getting if the throttle is pressed down.

im sure you would be able to get the value externally from the game controller via directx but i don't know if there is an accessible value for it in game.

So there is no way to tell if you are pressing the throttle key with scripting?

It would seem to me that a key board would be easier to code than a game controller since you would have a 100% throttle value and a coasting value and thats about it.

bah... oh well.... was worth a try wink.gif

maybe some day soon i will have time to dabble in this stuff blush.gif

Hi, If anyone is interested, the GTA4 Overhaul has a full fuel system.

This includes:

- Different real-world fuel consumptions for each vehicle

----- Idle consumption

----- City consumption

----- Highway consumption

- Vehicles have fuel tanks based on their real capacities

----- Fuel is saved for all vehicles entered, even when the game is off

- Tanks leak when damaged

- Different fuel types (Petrol, diesel, elec, gas etc)

----- Using the wrong fuel has different effects (depending on the type)

----- Performance fuel

- The system will soon use RPMs to more accurately calculate this

(We are working on an engine simulator - for adding performance parts etc)

- Fuel stations still being found...

I think fuel is used up more depending on how many revolutions per minute the engine's doing, not depending on how far the throttle is being pushed tounge.gif

Nice work Andy, very swish. While testing out I think I may have found a bug - when trying to fill up at the Steinway Steal Fuel location it told me I had no money and it wouldn't fill up the car (I had ~$850 at the time). I got 2 stars for it regardless tounge.gif

I just can't seem to reproduce this bug now, so I guess a weird mix of vars might have made it a one-off? I did then experience a bug where running out of petrol in one car meant that I had to turn the engine on in the next car I got into - but then that miraculously solved itself too. tounge2.gif

hi, i just really found out mods even existed for gta 4 and i got your mod just a while ago and i love the idea behind it but i have 2 bugs with it, one being that even though i replaced the 3 icons stated, they all show up as police icons, the second bug is that the fuel gauge refills its self when i try to stop(not sure if it does it any other time, i just notice it mainly when i stop).

not sure if this is normal or if i did something wrong, i know i enabled the mod as i saw it say as much, i took out my other mods to remove any chance of another mod interfering with this one and it made no difference.

That sounds about right, I never could reproduce some of the ones I experinced.

@hatorrijr, what version of the mod are you running? 2.2 Has just been released, I've never noticed the cars filling up as I stop.

i honestly have no idea, i "think" its 2.2, but i could be wrong, i managed to fix the radar part of the problem so all that is left is the fuel issue, i downloaded the mod from here: http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=5538, i guess i could try to redownload it and see if that does anything.

edit: i redownloaded and made sure it was 2.2 and as with the other one i had, the radar image works as i would think its supposed to but it still has the refilling issue, it seems to happen when the car comes to a stop, it just refills back to the starting point, roughly about half way filled.

i can try, not made videos of ingame footage before so you will have to bare with me lol. i will try to get that done asap to show you.

edit: here is the link to the video i made showing the bug. http://fanetworks.net/~swatgod/video/GTAIV_fuel_bug.wmv , i hope the quality is not to bad, i mainly kept it as small as i could to make it easier to download.
