Just watched Duel not even an hour ago.

It is directed by Steven Spielberg, came out in 1971 but It is a classic I gotta say.

Basically a Truck Driver is trying to kill the main character of the movie,must watch it is worth your popcorn

There's a great seen when he goes into a diner, certain the truck driver is in there and eyes everybody up, trying to identify who it is. Thanks for reminding me of this film.

Haha any time and yeah I remember that scene.

Although I was expecting to see the Truck Driver we didn't exactly get a huge glimpse of him in the movie at all.

Last movie I saw was Titanic at the cinema in 3D. Was the first time I've been to see a 3D film but I really enjoyed it, and that film is always a classic.

 

My brother warned me that the remakes of old films converted to 3D are not as good as movies actually shot for 3D, which was evident when i saw the trailer for the new Men In Black and almost sh*t myself at one point when Will Smith jumped off a building and my stomach churned

The last film I watched was The Avengers and it's terrific. Aside from being the best action film I've seen in ages, it's very funny. Based on the amount of laughs it got it could probably qualify as one of the best comedies of the year so.

 

It's easily worth your money. We're not talking about Michael Bay type rubbish here.

I rented The Thing last night and honestly did not know what the f*ck was going on.

 

I got to the part where they were studying the cell's of it and saw that it was becoming human and I turned it off. It reminded me of Cloverfield.

I saw it in 3D and while it was one of the best examples of 3D I've seen, I'd still recommend watching it in 2D though. With 3D there's some light loss and motion can make it difficult to focus.

 

I think you'd enjoy it in 2D more to be honest. Like I said though Avengers does 3D better than most. The 3D effect is quite restrained.

Nothing worse than a sweaty cinema, especially if you don't have any elbow room. It can ruin the entire film.

 

I don't think the bad guy was supposed to be super tough. They didn't win easy but I get the feeling that much tougher villains are coming in the future. Loki was supposed to be kind of a wannabe i think.

Moneyball (2011)

 

As some might know, I'll watch pretty much anything with Brad Pitt in it. The only person who ranks above him in terms of brilliant actors for me is Natalie Portman.

 

Still, even with the power of Pitt I was a bit apprehensive to dedicate two and a half hours of time I should really be studying in to a film about baseball. I don't know sh*t about baseball, and to be honest I don't really want to know sh*t about baseball. But that very fact is a testament to how well crafted Moneyball is.

 

Despite following the story of Billy Beane (Pitt) and his newest employee Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) as they shift the focus of managing the Oakland A's from traditional managing to relying on cold hard statistics and figures, the inescapable romanticism that runs in the veins of any sports film remains. Beane's love for the game, and his passion for wanting to make it fair generates this romanticism, even with the best attempts to remain businesslike about it. Frequent, flash-fast outbursts of both anger and joy reveal Billy to not be the uncaring boss that he appears to many to be.

 

Even though the film is built around baseball, you don't have to know anything about the game to get it. At its heart the film is really about Billy settling the score with himself and dealing with his past failures in the game and in life in general. Sure, if you know the game inside out you might get a little more out of the montages and background chatter, but if you can understand the difference between "winning" and "not losing", in any sense, then you'll be able to understand Moneyball.

 

It's a truly great film, and probably the best sport film I've seen. It might not necessarily have the flashy pay-off of films like Mean Machine or Goal, but there's much, much more in terms of storytelling (thanks in no small part to Aaron Sorkin and Steven Zaillian's screenplay) and overall quality.

I just saw Clockers the other night. It's an older movie about a murder in Brooklyn, New York City. The other main focus is the low level drug trade, and life in a housing project. Harvey Keitel plays the homicide detective. I am a big fan of him and he played a very realistic character. Mekhi Phifer is the other lead. He plays a low level drug dealer. I am very interested in inner city life (my favorite show is The Wire) so that's why I watched it. I thought it was a realistic portrayal of inner city life (not that I would know). It's on HBOgo if you ever get a chance.

I watched The Avengers last night, in 3S. Was actually the first 3D film I have watched and was really impressed with it. I was with my missus who of course hated it because of the constant action but thats why I liked it. The fight scenes were incredible. The story line took from the individual films so I guess you are at a disadvantage if you havent seen Thor, Iron Man , Captain America and Hulk but would still be fun, just the little things you wouldnt get.

Would deffo watch it again, but just not with the missus.

 

However it made up for her taking me to watch The Hunger Games which i thought was the worst film I have ever seen.

Sam Elliot is a bada** and easily made the movie. Nothing against Swayze, RIP, but when it comes to tough guys its hard to beat Elliot and Eastwood.

I recently watch Rang De Basanti.

 

It is a Bollywood film about a British woman who went to India to shoot a movie based on her Grandfather's diary (although historically the characters in the story do exist) with some college students.

 

After watching the movie, The Movie itself left a message in my head against political corruption and from the story it self you realize how people will fight for what is right.

 

To make it clearer (I mean how did political corruption ended up on a film shooting), I'll explain to you in Spoilers (I gonna warn you, its a good film)

The Movie they're going to make was about freedom fighters who fought against the Brits during the 1920's and during that timeline they were fighting for the freedom of India. while they were filming the movie they had this friend who was about to take flights with a MiG(A fighter plane) later on after the film was finished this friend died in a plane crash and the government blamed him for being inexperienced despite his flight instructors stating that he top the class of flying (hiding the truth that they knew the MiGs where poorly managed due to financial corruption) and this is the part were the traits of the freedom fighters were engraved in the minds of the actors (The College students) then they started rallies for their dead friend and............. so its up to you to find out.

I wanted an action movie. I can't say I got what I wanted. Slow and predictable. Not a lot of action. No way??? They are going to come after your wife and kids? That's crazy...I would never have thought of that as part of a plot.

 

Not that it was bad, but I myself wouldn't recommend it unless you just needed something mindless to kill an hour and a half with.

I watched Pi (1998) for the second time. It felt a lot slower this time.

 

It's a pretty cheesy movie that seems to take itself seriously, almost painfully. It's pretty good if you've got an open mind, a sense of humor, and can take art films. I have nothing to do for a while, and I want to do this, so I'll write a synopsis in spoiler tags (with spoilers).

 

A theoretical mathematician, Max, stared into the sun when he was a kid, besides the temporary blindness it left him with a talent for mathematics. While researching the possible patterns in the stock market he becomes paranoid. A Jewish mathematician is also interested in mathematical patterns and asks Max to help his cult of Jewish Mathematical Masters find patterns in the Torah that they believe lead to their god's true name. A woman who is also interested in patterns rushes max to find the pattern he was originally looking for. Eventually Max realizes that the two patterns he is looking for is the same 216 digit number, this number may also coincide with pi itself. Both groups really want this number and eventually turn to threatening Max with violence. Max is driven insane by these requests so he destroys his left parietal lobe with a power drill to destroy his mathematical thinking.

I can watch this movie, thousands of times and not get bored. I thank my dad so much for getting this for me.

Mark Kaminsky is kicked out of the FBI for his rough treatment of a suspect. He winds up as the sheriff of a small town in North Carolina. FBI Chief Harry Shannon, whose son has been killed by a mobster named Patrovina, enlists Kaminsky in a personal vendetta with a promise of reinstatement into the FBI if Patrovina is taken down. To accomplish this, Kaminsky must go undercover and join Patrovina's gang.

I almost wish I hadn't watched it again. I remember it being hilarious and one of Jim Carrey's best, still provided a few chuckles but my memory of it was allot better than the actual movie .

 

Guess I will have to watch The Hangover next, that gets better every time i see it.

Great movie. I think a lot of us can relate to Andrew. The story was well told and the acting and special effects were great. I can see Dane DeHaan (who played Andrew) being the next Ben Foster.

 

I like how it was realistic when it came to how your average teens would react to superpowers and not be all superhero with it. The last 20 minutes or so were awesome. And I knew how Andrew was feeling during his final moments. That type of rage where you just don't give a shlt about anything. Where you feel like not a single person in the world cares about you and you don't care if you live or die. Where you want to kill everybody in the world.

 

I hope there's a sequel.

 

But I don't know how the story will work out since Steve and Andrew are dead. The only one who has powers is now Matt. Although now everyone knows he has them.

A Puerto-Rican ex-con, just released from prison, pledges to stay away from drugs and violence despite the pressure around him and lead on to a better life outside of NYC.

 

It's been a long time since I've last seen this masterpiece. Another gem from Brian De Palma starring Al Pacino (besides Scarface of course). It's such a brilliant movie, and I love the way Carlito narrates the whole time. It brings much more depth to it. Also, Ken Rosenberg from Vice City being based off of Sean Penn's character is just obvious. Both have glasses, too much gel in their hair, crappy suits, both sleazy lawyers... they're basically identical. Anyways, great movie and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet!

An absolutely brilliant action film from start to finish. The Choreographing of the fight scenes was astonishing, ever impact was felt. The direction on a whole was brilliant with some really memorable scenes. The story, simple and sometimes quite cliche but it works well for the type of film it is which is a gritty, no punches held, tense action movie. The acting is great all round, and the main character reminds me of a young Jet Li (Well an Indonesian Jet Li). This was honestly one of the best action movies I have seen in ages (I tend to avoid these hyperbolic statements), it really keeps you on the edge of your seat with its claustrophobic atmosphere and intense fight scenes. If its on at your theater go and see it now

Werewolves on Wheels (1971) - On their cross country journey, a gang of bikers called The Devil's Advocates visit a monastery home to satanic monks who kidnap one of the member's lady, Helen, to be used during a ritual; before she could be sacrificed, the bikers escape, but only to find impending death by a mysterious creature - a werewolf amongst them.

 

The movie, in essence, is Easy Rider meets The Wolfman. The pacing was not as slow as the former but still provided a well made part of the biker exploitation era. Though, the movie seemed to primarily dwell more on the wheels aspect, rather than the werewolf, but it still became what it was meant to be: a biker movie with a twist; nothing bad but nothing groundbreaking. Whether a vintage biker or horror movie fan, it provides sufficient entertainment. I enjoyed it.

City of God, what a brilliant film. Probably one of the best films I have ever seen. Its a Brazilian film with English subtitles for anyone wondering, I'd definitely recommend it.

 

Brooklyn Rules was also on the tellybox recently, crock of sh*t that was.

Not had much to do recently so I've seen 2 movies in about 3-4 days of each other and I rarely go to the cinema every 6 months..

 

 

 

 

Okay, the first film I've seen Men in Black 3. Not the 3D version though, I feel like they are always a waste of money on an already expensive bill.

I thought the film was okay - not that amazing but something to fill up 3 hours. I've only ever seen the first film and never been interested in the second but I'm not sure that has a huge bearing on anything at all. Its basically the same story line - Suits find a threat - threat feels like killing things - suits need to find a way to stop alien from destroying the world - all eventually ends by suits winning. I'm not a huge fan of Will Smith, but he plays the role well and acts pretty much like J did in the very first film which is a bonus. They went for a sad but happy ending for this movie. I felt like it wasn't really needed and they could of focused more on something else in the film. In the end, if you enjoy the series I think you'd like this. I felt like most of the lines and jokes were a little forced but hey, that's MIB for you.

 

 

 

 

Second film I saw today was Chernobyl Diaries. Its a standard run of the mill horror I would say, not very scary (personally) its the type where they never show you anything so you just imagine the things hunting these people are worse than what would of probably been shown. Basically, these group of friends travel around Europe and meet a family member - family member has stupid idea about this tour - all these people go on tour with a guy and they get denied to go in on the main road - tour guide dislikes this so goes a back way - circumstances involve alot of death and running in darkness and screaming girls - end of film.

 

I really hated the girls in this film, and one dude. They f*cking bring down the house when it comes to screaming and shouting when its really only going to get them f*cked up and killed. I also thought that considering all of the background info on Chernobyl to begin with you'd think they'd explain the disaster more but really its totally skipped over. I also thought the ending was pretty abrupt, and they really didn't play with the moments the film made for the ending. They just kind of gave you a really easy option out. It could of turned into so much more. If you're a fan of horror its a good see - but nothing I would write home about personally.

The best movie you never hear anyone talk about. This is Eastwood at his best, bad*ss throughout the entire thing and absolutely hilarious. Would recommend this to anyone, in my top 5 all time.
