Thoughts On The Last Movie You've Seen

Please post more than just the title.

We don't need a War and Peace essay on the film, but at least give a couple of sentences of good and bad points and even throw in a rating if you want to, as long as you give some rationale.

Just saw Gone Girl. Plenty of mystery. It's been a while since I've seen a movie like that.

I rewatched Jurassic World. I enjoyed it way better than I did last time. Love it even more than the originals. A perfect 10/10. :)

Might be one of my top three favorite movies

Why not? It's a great movie.

Just saw the 1986 Fist Of The North Star movie. Despite the fact that the story is pretty inconherent, I quite enjoyed it for its memorable violence and overall badassery. I also watched a few episodes of the series, but I'm not sure if I really feel like sitting through it all with the cheesy simplistic dialogue. If the animation was as good as in the movie then I probably would. It kinda drags on before it gets into the interesting parts. I guess it has a lot of filler like Dragon Ball Z.

It's all subjective of course, but I found the dialogue to be cringe worthy. This was apparent in the fact that they tried way too hard to make the main character charming and witty. As a result, everything he said was predictable, silly, dull or downright unnecessary. The dialogue from the rest of the characters was "meh" at best. The characters were forgettable and hardly original, not to mention two dimensional. The main character is a guy that looks like 1960's Superman trying to be an American James Bond. The Russian guy is supposed to be a hardened, fully trained KGB agent, but he loses his sh*t when he's insulted by someone he doesn't know. Also, what bugged me about the story is that there were way too many instances of "you thought this was gonna happen, but you missed this!" and then the movie cuts to a scene that wasn't previously shown. Additionally, I find it funny that they didn't bother to explain what "UNCLE" stood for until the very end of the movie. Finally, this may just be me, but I found the character to come off as a complete and utter douchebag. Well, that's my view on the movie anyway. It doesn't need to be seen, especially if you're seen a James Bond movie before.

Scratch, I can't believe it took you three days to go from liking my post, agreeing with it on more than one occasion, and then realizing it was the complete opposite to your opinion.

I read your post in a hurry, lol. The movie is based on a TV show, so yeah, it's beautifully cheesy.

Last movie I saw was Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

I'd give it a 4/5. The acting from Charlize Theron, the main wildboy, and Tom Hardy was sound. I felt the story. It was a summer blockbuster, it's not going to win any Oscars but that's not why you watch it. You're there for the explosions, the cars, the raw, gritty post-apocalyptic style and the CGI. It delivers. It's a great B movie

I actually feel that it should be recognized at the Oscars for its editing and use of practical special effects.

Not a bad film, actually. It's basically 2012 in a nut shell, but the only difference is that it's mostly confined to one State, California, instead of the whole world. I live in California myself, so this movie interested me, for that reason also. I remember, when the movie first came out, of Scientists coming out and saying that the movie is not accurate in what would happen in actual size quake, but that's kind of the point, it's Hollywood and it's a movie, it's supposed to be dramatic and over the top.

National Lampoon's Vacation. The new one is good, but nothing beats the original IMO.

The Age of Adeline. Beautiful movie, great performances, stunning cinematography and it inspired some genuine smiles and tears.

I saw this one too recently, and I agree. It was a beautiful movie, loved the cinematography, nice cast, good story. Although the end was predictable (not that I mind, I liked it).

E: Last movie for me is Dark Places. Not a great movie, I'd give it 5/10.

Yeah Spiderman 2 is one of my favorites and IMO sort of a text-book example of a quality summer blockbuster/action flick. I never understood how Sony could make worse sequels. Yeah it's a different team, but still, you're supposed to get better with time.

I agree with this as well, practical special effects are a very lost art unfortunately. I have the old school belief that CGI should only be used for things that are literally impossible to film, not just because it's easier.

Sinister 2. It was like every horror movie ever. Scary noises and jumpscares. So much Ford advertising. All of the main characters drove one. It was so unrealistic when the kid got hit by a car. (btw the car was a Ford. One scene was just people saying:

"okay"

"okay"

"okay, bye"

"okay"

Not worth watching.

I rate it 4 / 10 Fords.
