OverTheBelow
GWFL = Games for windows LIVE, basically the plugin on some games (e.g. GTAIV, fallout 3, etc) which allow achievements that add to gamerscore on the PC. Why is there so much hate for it? I like achievements and it doesn't slow my game down noticeably. Everywhere I go I see people showing the hate. What do you personally think of it? Seddo
I've read posts from people on a few forums complaining that achievements in games wreck the modding scene, i don't use GFWL so i'm not sure if it's true or not. Although i know you can mod Fallout 3 and still get achievements. Also some people mentioned you can't play games without going through GFWL. GTA3Freak-2001
It can be annoying and in some games it causes problems, so far the games that I've got with GFWL support seem to be fine and cause no problems. Although with Fallout 3 if my net is down I wouldn't be able to load my save games as you need to log into your Gamertag to access them.
OverTheBelow
Well, I suppose only some of us find it fun getting achievements. I don't really care about the need for Internet access because 80% of the time my Internet is on.

I don't really care about the need for Internet access because 80% of the time my Internet is on. I always wondered about this. If I have, say Gears for PC and I get achievements, can I get the same achievements again for my 360 version of the title or what?

I've got both the 360 and PC version of GTA IV, and I've got an achievement list for the 360 version, and a seperate achievement list for the PC version. So yeah basically. Seddo
I don't think every PC and 360 have separate achievement lists though. If you fancy a quick gamerscore boost then playing Fallout 3 on the PC you can get all the achievements plus the DLC achievements (even without buying the DLC) within around 30 seconds just by entering a few command prompts

Skyline_Mad
I find GFWL a little anoying, the first time i installed GoW it took ages, an hour plus just to be able to save my game (after already installing it), i had a few problems which took a while to get around, to be honest i dont care for achievements, i just wanna play the game, not have to worry about registering it or whatever. Having to sign in to save/load the game sucks, especialy if you isp isn't reliable, you should have the right to save to your own pc, or at least skip using GFWL altogether if you dont plan on playing online, or want to mod the game. Democrab
Its buggy for one thing, GTA IV needed a patch to work on it.. and Live isn't that good for PC, for console, yes, but for PC? Nah, keep it as it is...
Ronnyboy
Probably because there are other alternatives to GFWL, and people have problems with saving and loading.
