Simple Black Main Menu Tweak

First of all, I recommend using Xliveless and No Intro Screens Mod.

Xliveless removes the need for Rockstar Social Club as well as Games For Windows Live. This effectively makes the game less annoying, more stable, and makes GTAIV load significantly faster. Do not forget to move your save games though or you'll not have them!

No Intro Logos Mod removes intro logos which propels you to the main menu in a matter of a fourth of a second. Rockstar seemed to have forgotten a skip button for their annoying into. (I think this is the one I am using and it works like a charm)

But, wait with both of these mods, there is still the news showing up! That damn GTABrowser! Useless! Well, here is my simple solution,

By renaming gta4browser.exe, you get a less annoying main menu - and GTAIV still works!

1) Open GTA IV directory

2) Right click and create a new text document

3) Rename it to fix.bat (not fix.bat.txt!! make sure that explorer shows you extensions for know file types!)

4) Right Click on the fix.bat and Select Edit

5) Notepad will pop up, paste the following in " ren gta4Browser.exe gta4Browser.exe_ " (without the "")

6) Save, exit text editor, and run.

Whola! You will have a Black and simple menu without any useless Rockstar Trash!

There will still be a social club logo to the bottom right - I think that is a texture so it is much harder to remove.

EDIT: I will also write a guide for those using Xliveless about all the useless files in GTAIV directory you can remove.

Meh.... Other than using a no intro screen (which is easily done buy editing the loadingscreens_pc.dat ) this seems like a lot of work for nothing but a black screen. You can't play multiplayer and it doesn't speed the game or loading time up either.

Do you really need a a script to rename one file?

Nope you don't, I could have just said rename GTAIVbrowser.exe, but then I like batch files and I think people should learn to use them smile.gif

I went on a deletion spree in my GTAIV main dir, and I discovered this... there are about six files necessary to run GTAIV in GRAIV dir... 7 with commandline.txt, 11 with no shadows and render flags.

Right but XLiveLess disables RGSC and GFWL anyways so it's unnecessary to delete or rename all those files that are related to them. None of them are running other than gta4browser.exe so it's a moot point. They're inactive right? So what purpose is there in renaming\deleting them?

Cleanliness, I keep my computer in much better shape than anything and everything else.

If you put rat poison everywhere and killed twenty rats, the dead rats won't be causing any more trouble, but you would want to remove them...

Anyway, should I also make a guide about utilization of all the other things in my sig?

I can't tell whether it does anything, so you test it out and maybe PM me results.
