tasmania1112
I was wondering why aren't there any new cars to be added in GTA 4? The only vehicle modifications available on the Internet are the real car logos? You can find thousands of cool cars that you can add in San Andreas! Modders can't change the textures or what? The GTA Guy
I was wondering why aren't there any new cars to be added in GTA 4? The only vehicle modifications available on the Internet are the real car logos? You can find thousands of cool cars that you can add in San Andreas! Modders can't change the textures or what? They can change textures, but not models. It hasn't been out too long yet, so we could have good car mods yet, just be patient, you will get them! longboardskier
From what little knowledge I have about it, the cars are a lot more involved in making with IV rather than with SA. The textures are HD, and when you factor the damage model into it it's very complicated. Plus I don't think there's even a tool yet to allow you to edit models in and out yet. That being said this community is full of extremely talented people and I'm sure someone will figure it out eventually.
tasmania1112
Oh, so that's the problem! I really hope they will succed! Straubinger82
And why the hell R* does not add some extra stuff instead of reducing stuff in a patch? Sry... but c´mon... what are these unique special-softwares for (GfWL & RGSC)?
AZAZEL
Modders had an easier time with San Andreas, and Vice City for that sake, as they were based on the aging GTAIII game engine. GTAIV is a whole new, unfamiliar playground for the modders, and it will be a while before proper mods start showing up.
craig3000
agree with everyone first they need to actually now how to make and edit files etc then they need to produce a program so it can be done at least a little bit easier then someone needs to take a lot of time to make a car! plus i guess they will be aiming for better quality so we could see some amazing things but i would say you'd be looking at end of 09 or 2010 tbh
FakeJ66
i think the vehicles are not modable because of that stuff for damage, right?? i heard that there is a new thing in gta iv that calculates all the damages while driving! so you can't just set the damage like in gta:sa. in gta:sa it was really easy. every time i crashed, the car's damage was nearly the same. but in gta iv, it's different every time. i just hope somebody will make a programm to make it possible to mod vehicles for gta iv. (i can imagine niko driving a BMW xD)
JasonThummel
It may not be as complicated as predicted since alot of the calculations are done in game, but making models for IV will surely take more effort to make the details look good. chngdman
It's just real time deformation of the mesh and real time collision. If anything, I assume right now, that it is actually easier from a perspective of workflow, just harder for the model-sniffers to figure out. I don't doubt though, I'm sure they will get this ball rolling. Rockstar Toronto needs to stop bullsh*tting and mail me some scripts. lol.
