meta187
I'm a bit dissapointed. I finished on my first pass without rescuing everyone outside the missions, finished at level 36 and still got the Rank S ending based on my points and bringing Zombrex to everyone. Overtime in the previous game was pretty substancial feeling, overtime in this one was a little short and didn't add much to the story at all aside from getting to walk away alive with your daughter, it doesn't feel like it amounts to much considering it's the best possible ending. Now I have very little motivation to play through again aside from a few unlockables and some achievments. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~
Tyler
I rented this game the day my xbox broke, so I am sort of pissed off about that. Although the story seems too generic for my liking, I still wanted to see how much was improved, particularly the gun mechanics. Is that really the best ending you can get Meta? Are you sure there isn't a better one for saving everyone?
meta187
From what I read it goes S, A, B, C, D or something to that effect. I think rescuing everyone unlocks something cool and gives you an achievement but you'd still get the same ending. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~
G The Generous
yes,you will get the same ending, but they a bit different(of course there is bad ending too) it really good because you can get the good ending without recuse all people.it will be suck if you wasting your time just for doing side mission instead of enjoy the fun with zombie i have beat the game in rank A,but the ending is not so good so i have start new game again, try to get S rank
meta187
The next run is pretty much going to be for achievments and rescues. I watched ending A on Youtube, you get that if you do everything else right and opt not to give TK the Zombrex. It does suck compared to the S rank ending but the S rank ending was still pretty mediocre compared to the crazy stuff happening at the overtime ending of the original. I guess there is still some DLC to look forward to but I'll probably be in a Fallout: New Vegas induced coma around then. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~
GTA3Freak-2001
This game is an improvement but I still find the rushed timed missions rather frustrating to my gaming style, at least they got rid of the one save game thingo. I just salivate at the thought of the setting presented in DR2 combined with a more GTA like structure where missions are not time crucial and happen as you do them. I guess to some this would take the challenge out of it. I just wanna create crazy weapons and kill zombies with gay abandon!

Algonquin Bridge
Bought it on release, and been playing it on and off. And I must say, I wasn't/am not disappointed by it. It's an absolute blast to play through, the combo weapons are , especially the laser sword: Cutting through swathes of zombies doesn't get any more fun that with the laser sword! Storyline...pretty good, too. Although the fact that Rebecca dies had been on my mind whilst playing sort of dampened the shock when it actually happened. And although it was obvious, I was a bit surprised when Sullivan was on Phenotrans's payroll. Must really be getting old! Currently replaying through the game, leveling up and messing around some more. But I have yet to tame Snowflake: I throw the damn steaks, but she just charges past it and pins me! Can't wait for Case West. I was slightly skeptical at the lack of Frank, but Chuck has more than proven himself in my eyes; and now these two zombie-killing badasses join forces? Sign me up! meta187
Yea, I won't say it's not fun, it was definitely a fun game, I just wish I had a few more cool incentives to play through again endingwise. I think I'll do a pass strictly for the survivors keeping to the time schedules, then do a final pass for the misc achievments which would be a helluvalot more fun to do co-op. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~
jking
the Knife gloves and the light sabre are amazingly fun to use and are by far 2 of my favorite weapons to use so far...i wish i would have know that chaper 4-1was a psychopath battle goddamn it, those damn sexy twins lol
mrpain
Well I've just finished the game with Ending asS. And I feel exactly the same way. Sure the gameplay has improve, sure the controls have improved and sure the weapons were more badass. But after all the great improvements this sequel has made, I still prefer the first game. Let me begin my long-ass post about why so... OVERTIME f*ckING SUCKED! The same ol' fetch quest again? Alright I wouldn't mind that, since the first game had it too but it lead to some epic moments in that tunnel. So Chuck just run his ass off to fetch the stuff for TK but TK doesnt even used them? Lame, really lame. And TK as the final boss? Now I like TK as a character but seriously they could have came up with a better showdown. I rather have the fight in the arena and not above it where there is no zombies at all to disturb us. The ending pisses me off! In the first game, we had Frank screaming on top of a tank. Now in this sequel, Chuck just walked away calmly. I was expecting Frank to show up sometime given the DLC Case: West. But nope, all we get is some huggy moment with Katey and Stacey. I like the happy ending but I felt that more story-development could have been improvise. The zombie at the end almost made me shat my pants though. Now as to why I prefer the first game.... DR1 plot was memorable and entertaining. DR2 opened up with a bang and but sadly closed with nothing. Frank, Brad, Jessie, Isabella and Otis...All this characters from the first game were great characters. But as for DR2 characters: Chuck's not a bad protagonist at all. I get his motivation which was to think about his daughter only. His lines may be cheeky but hey, it's also funny as hell! Not a fan of the voice actor though. Katey's so cute! Enough said. Rebecca's the f*cking female version of Frank West and by far my favourite character in the game. But big f*cking Sullivan had to spoil my fun of blasting her in the head. Should have aimed for Stacey! Plus, she has the best camera angles! Speaking of Sullivan, I hated him. HATED HIM! There was like no character development at all for him and when he suddenly turned baddie, I was like, "I'm not impressed." He could have been so much more. How he died was brutal, but that wouldnt bring back Rebecca! Stacey, well the point of her being in the game was to call you every now and then so really she had no purpose in her role. BUT SHE'S A ZOMBIE RIGHTS ACTIVIST! I expected her to go out in the field and help Chuck solve the case but no she didnt. Shouldnt she be fighting for zombie rights? Shouldnt we know more about CURE? Shouldnt have Sullivan shot her instead of Rebecca? SHOULDNT THEY?!? Finally, there's eff-ing TK. I actually like him as a character. He's meant to be a typical bastard, and he's really good at being a bastard. Especially when Chuck gave him the zombrex, I could have imagined what Chuck felt at that moment. But really, the final showdown with him could have been so much better. Now that I'm done with characters, let me go onto the psychopaths. DR1 had many memorable psychopaths; clown, fat policewoman, Kent, the machete grandpa and Brock. As for DR2, most of the psychopaths were so forgetable! There were only few who caught my eye: Leon the biker dude. I wished he would be like The Convicts from the first game but sadly it's just one battle. Fighting agaisnt him was the most fun I've ever had in the game. With the rocking music and the interfering zombies, Leon really stole the show for me with his chainsaw bike. The irony is, I killed him with a chainsaw lying on the ground nearby. "I'm number one!!!" "Yeah, you're on fire." Slappy the creepy mascot. How do you beat a guy in a costume with flamethrowers on rollerblades? No seriously, I would really like to know because he caused me so much hell. I only managed to kill him when a glitch caused him not to move at all. What I liked about Slappy is that he was insane and hence really fit into the word 'psychopath'. Sgt.Boykin is one of the most interesting psychopaths in the game. When we first meet a psychopath, we could already see them being insane but as for Boykin, we at first seem him as a laidback tough guy who isnt afraid of zombies. But when all hell broke loose, we could actually started to see him going crazy. I felt kind of sorry for him when he died, it wasnt his fault in the first place. This is the great character development I was hoping for in the game, no matter brief or not. There may be other psychopaths who were interesting like Antoine or Randy, but really, they're just big fat f*ckers waiting to be killed. DR2 did improve on the survivors. DR1 survivors were just randomly generic people but DR2 survivors were actually recognizable. Rock Heroes, Europa, the medic and the poker survivors were my favourites. Did I have a blast playing this game? Hell yeah! Do I still prefer the first game? Hell yeah too. I had gave Dead Rising 1 a 9.5/10 but as for Dead Rising 2, I give it a 8/10. Freakorama
Yahtzee's review of DR2: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/vie...6-Dead-Rising-2 Surprisingly positive, There is A LOT to nitpick in this game I would have thought.

Moth
So I rented the game for my PS3. I have enjoyed most of it, the only thing that making hard for me to enjoy it to the fullest is the time limit that has been imposed on the story missions. That pisses me off, when i try to save people or fight psychos, i always have to watch the time i have til the next mission. I want to explore and kill zombies and also be able to do the story, but i can't since, there is a f*cking time limit. I would understand a time limit on getting survivors, but the story missions? Come on. Maybe i should get the PC version and someone would mod that out, if it is possible. Formerly known as The General
Blackadder.
You could just ignore the cases, which once you fail one cancels all the others, and then dick around for the rest of the game. Then when the game ends you'll get a different ending than you would if you did all the cases and you can just restart with a higher levelled character. Freakorama
comments? That was... ok. Not good, not great. A lot of it felt like random clips that didn't exactly fit the music, you've got to work a little more with keeping actions in time with the beat, also a lot of the camera angles were just directly behind the player and makes it look uninteresting. Go watch one of my old ones for an example. Edited October 17, 2010 by Futurama_Freak1

Tetsuo2501
I rented this game the past week. I do like the changes they made to the game itself like everyone has saying, but for me personally I think the psychos, and overtime mode are way too f*cking hard. Some psycho's are merely there for pp bonus (which is obvious) while others are borderline hellish. There's clearly a huge challenge curve between the story mode's last boss fight, then going off and doing overtime. I eventually got frustrated enough with how the last fight mechanics worked (I even looked up how the cheap and easy win) that i gave up without beating the final boss, I f*cking hate games that think that the end of the game needs a huge challenge curve for no reason at all; Capcom seems to be very prone to what a call "retard hard" endings. But other than that I think the improvements that they did make to the game itself was done really well. I would've enjoyed it a lot more; even bought the title if it wasn't for the god awful psycho/final boss fights.
pyramid head
Can someone help me out as this is doing my head in. I'm on case 2 at least i think i am anyway a brief movie plays showing someone being eaten then i get a message saying the truth has vanished or something like that and i fail the case what the frak is going on i never got any indication that i was supposed to look for someone or something called the truth so i have no idea what's happening. cold fusion 33
It's because you left it too late to do that mission. The missions are time sensitive and you need to keep track of when and where you need to be on the "Case File" section of the pause menu. Basically, do the missions, have some fun, but don't leave it too late to do missions, otherwise you'll run out of time.
