mhall914 Posted February 9, 2009 Share Posted February 9, 2009 This pass weekend in many games of Hangmans Noose, there were players in the game that I couldn't see. They were not in my phonebook for the game and when I hit the down directional button they were not there in the list of players. Other players in the game could see and talk to them, but not me. After the missions ended and the new game would start, the ghost player that was in the game would never be around anymore. Very weird. Has anyone else come accross this? Everytime this happend the ghost player would join late but soon enough to play. I guess somewhere along the chain of connections to the game server, the connection was broken in a certain way where my game wasn't registering the new player. Freaky. See ya online. $1,000,000 to rank 10!! It took 8 months of weekend playing turf wars to get to rank 7 ($750,00) and two months of weekend playing Noose to earn $3,250,000. Crazy. Out! Now when people mention a ghost player, I generally try to have some fun claiming it's a hack, R* employee or whatever comes to mind before revealing the ultimate letdown that it's just a weird connection issue. It gets to quite bothersome when you're playing a death match and you're shooting at someone, then, all of a sudden, you see "this player died" above your screen. I used to sit and wonder and say what the ball sauce?! I later learned that it was just some invisible player beating me to the kill. I found out because some guy was thought I was talkin chap and he wanted to kill me, so I gave him my color, and vice versa, and we could'nt find each other. sammyman88 Posted February 10, 2009 Share Posted February 10, 2009 Two dayz ago I was in a free mode with a bunch of people with snipers only. The game was not lagging at all it was fun next thing I know there is a guy invisible and all I can see is his sniper. And before that I didn't even go near him or kill him I just found him invisible then I killed him with my car and he respawned invisible again and everytime he died he just remained invisible. With me and Deejay too, or he gets disconnected when one of my teenage fanclub join the game. Seems ok when I host though. And if one of us is kicked, he logs off, changes accounts, gets invited back. Invisibilty used to be annoying until we took advantage of it, since a regular TDM ages ago when some pyscho wannabe gangsta rappa yank kept trying to team kill me: Deejay couldn't see him, he couldn't see Deejay, so I put dickhead on mute and told Deejay where he was, he RPG'd that spot and the motherf*cker DIED every time. Super funny. DJ and I had a FF off free mode yesterday where we couldn't see each other, so we just sent messages with the name of our targets and griefed them independantly, timing my shots between his explosions and occasionally hitting each other by accident! We've played so many games like this that we have an instinctive teamwork. Goes back to what I've said to people about giving away your secrets, well we've got to the point where griefing some dipsh*ts is an art form. SuperJude™ Posted February 10, 2009 Share Posted February 10, 2009 I just realized that this explains the weirdest thing I ever saw with GTA 4, and it was many months back using the law420 account. Everything kept spontaneously exploding as if they were hit by a rocket launcher. It wasn't a chain reaction either and the tip off now is that I remember a guy from another team driving up, his car blowing up but him being fine inside the car, which happens when your teammate blows you up in a car with FF off. I bet dimes to dollars that somebody was ghosted into the game, had a good spawn point on an RPG and was cracking up. Not what the topic starter posted its what I posted a invisible player only seen with his gun, no blip on his head and no bugs in game or it wasnt lagging.
