conflict with philips multimedia remote (SRM7500)

GTA IV seems to have a conflict with a multimedia remote I own (it's connnected to the computer via a USB RF dongle)

 

I plug in the USB dongle and GTA IV won't launch (no error, just goes to desktop)

I unplug the USB dongle and GTA IV mysteriously works

 

I don't have any other software with this problem, is anyone else experiencing this?
