Rapter Posted February 9, 2009 Share Posted February 9, 2009 i bought the AMD Phenom II 940 3.0GHz Quad Core and i got a huge FPS increase, I'm running it at: 1680x1050, High, Very High, Very High, Very High, Highest, 100, 100, 100, 16 I'm getting 61.58 FPS I'm so impressed I'm a very satisfied customer. ron123 Posted February 9, 2009 Share Posted February 9, 2009 (edited) First I don't know if I believe you, anyway, the 4870 1GB + great quad core is what GTAIV needs, you should be able to play CRYSIS on max settings (2 or 4 AA) just fine, you have a great rig, I may get something like this in the near future. what is 512x2 in your sig??? Do you mean to have two 4870 512MB in crossfire? what is your memory usage in max settings of 1680x1050? any tweaks, mods? Do you even know what's the difference between 32 and 64 bit systems? Are you aware there is 64 bit XP? 2. Have you even tried Vista? It actually runs better then XP on new hardware. But a 512 mb GPU cant, its impossible, to have this performance running the benchie, so if your 4870 isnt a effective 1 Gb VRAM card, your result is actually a bs. He said that he has 512MB of video memory and was able to get real 60 FPS on max settings, this is a lie, he needs some 1GB in one GPU to do it, he should have many missing textures with 512MB of VRAM on a maxed GTAIV. I know im banging on about it but if people are using the norestrictions command they will possibly get silly fps in the bench, especially with a 512mb card because even tho you have 1500mb of stuff selected in the options, it only (seems to me) displays 500mb of stuff at once causing major pop-in. You should have 50% VRAM of the total VRAM needed for GTAIV to have normal textures, in 20%-30% of effective VRAM you get many missing textures- and unplayable gameplay. I looked to the:"Palit radeon HD 4870 1GB sonic dual edition"-this is not a dual card or mirror memory, it has only duel bios settings to choose from, rapter should see some 900MB in the usage, he said that he saw 512MB which make him a lier!!
