SR20DE
http://i.gizmodo.com/5149220/beware-unix-t...friday-the-13th Forget the Mayans and their silly 2012 doomsday scenario. The real end of the world will happen because of that most venerable of operating systems: UNIX. That's because next Friday, UNIX time will read 1234567890. Scary! And, it just so happens that this event will coincide with one of the more superstitious days on our calendar, Friday the 13th. Scarier! Have to admit, that's a little creepy. Especially considering the date. It's y2k all over again!
agent17
People will try to propagate this to the point where there is a mass panic. Our lives are so pointless that everyone secretly wishing for something BIG to happen, even though nothing will.

Saggy
All "UNIX time" is is a measure of seconds since January 1st, 1970. It's actually called time since epoch. I was working with it earlier today and noticed the 12345. QUOTE (K^2) ...not only is it legal for you to go around with a concealed penis, it requires absolutely no registration! Jesus: (snickers) Some humans scribbled some crap on some paper! And now Earth is going to self destruct and the black holez will come out of teh LHC and destroy the everything! sh*t! God: (shakes with laughter) You got the jokes Son! Damn! Those Mayans sure kicked my ass eh? Jesus: Haha you got the jokes too. More wine? God: Hell yea- oops, no thanks. PacMaan
Things i learnt from the internet today: The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia. This is a specialized form of triskaidekaphobia, a simple phobia (fear) of the number thirteen, and is also known as friggatriskaidekaphobia. Shaunr
Hmmmmm.....So why is this bad for macs/ Linux? Wouldn't that mean that the OS with a UNIX foundation would take over the world, if anything? I don't think anything will happen. But if anything, a message will pop up saying: "Did you notice? The time reads 1234567890! LOL!"
Drag_Drift
Happy 1234567890 to you guys. The IRC channel #1234567890 just exploded.
mdtajghori
i think the arrival of 1234567890 can be stopped by simple mathematics based on real numbers. Now consider 1 and 2, there are infinite real numbers between 1 and 2 and this implies that it going to take infinite amount of time for 1234567890 to come. Not so scary now right Don't thank me.
