Do you think all the reviews were legit?

I think the answer is pretty simple.

First of all: Besides the fact that 10/10 was too much (i agree), the game was stunning and good to say the least.

Now If you have played previous GTA's and look at IV, it really is a step forward, considering the feel Rockstar wanted to give to it (atmosphere, graphics).

Also every big review site (ign, gamespot, gametrailers, ...more) always get to preview the game months/weeks before (behind closed doors)

... now how i see it is... If such site's don't give 10/10's (or 9/10's) maybe there is a possibility that Rockstar will never send them exclusive material, videos, pictures?

Because as we all know, big 'respected' (known) sites are always in the frontlines of previewing games way before they come out and get the first scoop.

It's a game of respect i think... Also think what the future might bring. There is a big chance that when GTA 5 is being developed or when it's in the final stages, that once again reviewers will get invites to witness a preview. Rockstar is basically giving them a hand with this because whenever a site has new information (and when Rockstar has lifted it's embargo) the fans/people of ze internets will see it and it brings more traffic to the site. More traffic means more people who will probably check the site more regularly, which means (probably) that the site will get a bit more famous and so on. It's a circle of marketing.

Anyhow, that's what i think.

Yeah, bad port blah blah...Controls are fine on PC.

Nonsense, unless you pass the dictatorial MS controller compliance test. Even after two patches the controls are anything but "fine". For a game using DirectX as it's base-compatibility measure, it's positively laughable that so much fannying about is required to get most other controllers to work, and the lack of control re-assignment is disgraceful. Example; the comically mis-named "All Controllers Working" thread, now at an admirable 35-pages in length, shows just how "working" all controllers are(n't).

I think the review scores were dead on, considering how much was improved upon from GTS:SA, in terms of it's core gameplay(added cover, some breakable walls, realisitic physics, improved driving physics, many many more npc's on screen..with added random characters, improved aiming..ect).

The difference in IV and SA, is that IV makes use of it's features to a larger degree, as for example you can get lost in LC's make believe internet, or Niko's friends are alot deeper then in SA..ect, or the npc's say alot more and do more as well, ect.

SA is alot about adding in a bunch of features, in a map that is larger..but also lacks much detail as well.

While i love GTA:IV for what it is, i will admit i miss the pure crazyness of SA, and i hope eventually with the DLC's, GTA:IV will have everything that many GTA fans expect.

GTA:IV is geared towards the more cerberial gamer, who will watch/listen to each line spoken, and really get deeply into not only the storyline but some of the characters info of LC's net, as well as getting to know Niko's friends more deeply.

SA is geared more towards the action gamer who wants more and more to do, and does not care much about a storyline.

And as we will see in a couple days with the 1st DLC, Rockstar will be adding in more action packed moments and a bit more crazyness overall, mainly because Johnny is more fitting of it, while Niko was not.

And my gut feeling is that in the DLC#2, that's when Rockstar adds in a bunch of SA like elements, into it's 3rd lead character in the game.

It's alot easier to add in over the top features into a DLC, while it's impossible to add in improved core elements.

Having said that, i still believe a character like Johnny to start off GTA:IV, would have given Rockstar more freeedom to add in more crazy elements that fit the storyline.

I would love to see the eventuall perfect mix of GTA:IV's realism/depth..ect, mixed with SA's over the top features, be it in a future DLC of GTA:IV or GTA:V, which should hit with the next generation of consoles.(especially a new Xbox).

So just like VC, and SA, yes GTA:IV deserved it's high scores.
