"It's free mode N00B!"

First of all, I'm not looking for a flame-fest or anything here, just a sensible discussion.

 

With hacking becoming rife around GTA IV online, I seem to encounter rather a lot of them in free mode. Normally, hackers aren't too much of a problem if they just leave other people alone. It's the ones that go out with the purpose of irritating as many people as possible that are the problem. Whenever I tell them to stop (politely or sometimes not-so-politely) the most common response I get is "It's free mode N00B" (usually with much worse grammar / spelling than that). They then usually go on to say things about my mother etc. etc. the usual crap.

 

I've even had somebody say to me today that R* said themselves that they wouldn't ban people on free mode, only ranked matches. I asked them for a link to this official statement and they went quiet rather quickly.

 

So anyway, I ask you. Is this actually a valid justification to blatantly hack? I think not, but what do you think?

I think invincibilty and car spawning (also object spawning, ex ramps) are OK in freemode. I mean- my friend and I just found a building and I created my own skate park on it. It was awesome. I see nothing wrong with it. Car spawning is a great feature, unless you're spamming with it for ex. spawning 20 vehicles a second.

 

Rocket pistols/SMGs however are just pure annoying.

your poll is too narrow, hacking in free mode is perfectly fine as long as the host don't mind and you don't attack other players, in any other way of course it would be wrong.

It's a very gray area. I can't vote on that poll, my option isn't there. While I don't use any kind of cheat online whatsoever, I can't see banning people for it if they are doing it somewhere where they gain no advantage from doing so. Any other game, I f*cking despise a cheater. But in free mode, I mean, I'm sure it adds to the fun somehow.

I look at it like this..... If the server/match is yours then you make the rules.

 

If you are hosting the game and you don't want hacks and cheats on your server then you should kick those that are cheating out with no warning... and ban them from your match/server if it is possible.

 

If you are hosting a server/match that is specifically set up for cheats and hacks then that would be a different story.

 

Personally i do not condone cheating especially in ranked matches ...but.... there is a time and a place for every situation.

 

Free mode is not an excuse to ruin the rest of the players game play with cheats that disrupt that game play.

I think it's harder to state an opinion on this case...

 

I personally hate cheaters, hackers and everyone else that use these methods to gain unfair advantage or to annoy. Everytime I see a cheater/hacker on a ranked match I usually try to kick him/her (and make the others kick him/her) and after that I report that player. First I try to warn, tell not to use cheats, to play fairly, etc (all in a good manner). As usual I got messages like "you're a fag, your mother is a bitch", you know, all that crap. I then use my method number 2, which is: f*ck the cheater's game. Is the worst you can do to a cheater, believe me, specially when you're doing co-op missions or races. During co-ops I make the cheater quit the game, because I just play around and I don't go to the location to end the game. They usually get pissed off, insult me and then leave. During races I keep crashing on them, until they quit or the race ends. If they keep on the server I keep doing the same thing. I don't mind f*cking up my game, I just want to piss them off for cheating/hacking. It works.

 

But this is on ranked matches. I don't play on player matches, unless I'm playing with my friends and they can only enter by invitation. On free mod, it's hard to say. If they just spawn cars / objects and don't annoy anyone, it's cool for me, I can even do it myself. But when they start to use RPG-pistols, spawning lots of vehicles to create lag and annoying everyone, then I don't like it.

Well, Im surprised that there are some people that still think its ok to cheat.

Dont even try to say that spawning 1 car is ok, and that spawning 20 a second is bad.

If R* wanted Car Spawning in Free Mode. It would of been put there.

 

There is no need to cheat in multiplayer. if you feel the need to spawn a skate park made of spawned parts, then go LAN. or party mode. and invite only the people that dont mind.

 

DO NOT DO THIS IN MULTIPLAYER.

 

You people need to remember. Even the real good systems that run Q6600 and High end GPU's, Still struggle with the excessive amount of spawned objects.

 

It's like i posted in a different topic. So many people join Free Mode just to simply crash the host's game and get everyone kicked.

 

Not as so much recently, But i have noticed that a few dude's here n there. are specificly targeting certain host matches. and just being silly.

Causing a huge ruk in 1 spot. I Have also noticed how many people's computers struggle with that.

 

GTAIV tends not to like a big fight in 1 area. especially when the N.O.O.S.E. show up in them thar chopperz.

 

Still GTAIV on some matches are really cool.

Now if I remember. A hacker was a group of good guys. in the early years. WTF happened.

 

GTAIV Hacks are just cheap cheats, nothing more.

They just cause alot of visual problems and low performance .

i like people who car spawn but i hate people who use invinsibility. i hate people who use the rocket pistol mod when they shoot at other players but when its at cops and npc i have no problem with it.
