latin0
Im running a x2 3800(oced to 2.5ghz) with 2gigs of memory and 7800gt. I read through various posts and have added this to a file i placed in gta directory called commandline -norestrictions -nomemrestrict -availablevidmem 2.0 I also set this on my shortcut on desktop "LaunchGTAIV.exe" -norestrictions -novblank I set my res to 1280x1024 along with medium graphic settings, and the rest of slider things are left at default which i think is 0 Everytime i restart the game though my resolution goes back down to 800x600 with low settings How do i force it to stay and did i do the commandline file correct or what should i change Someone help me tweak it correctly, game is choppy while playing and things that are only a few feet away seem to not be there until i get closer and they are pixelated until i get right by them. john88z
First off with that card, cpu and resolution you should be playing on low. In the command line put -height *height here* -width *width here*
latin0
thanks quick reply! since i have those other 3 lines already in commandline do i have to hit enter in notepad after each one or can i have them ligned up across from each other as i do right now. I have modified it to look like this -norestrictions -nomemrestrict -availablevidmem 2.0 -height 1280 -width 1024 are all the ones i have needed ? john88z
Put it like this: -norestrictions -nomemrestrict -availablevidmem 2.0 -height ** -width **
latin0
I put it like this -norestrictions -nomemrestrict -availablevidmem 2.0 -novblank -height *1280* -width *1024* When i launch and i go to view graphic options it still shows 800x600, will it just say that even though im running res i placed. Also how can i fix the problem with distance. For example only a few feet away some things are white like people but when i get close i can see it correctly almost like its loading data still. Building kinda twitch until you get close. Edited February 8, 2009 by latin0
john88z
Dont add the ** That was just there to show where your supposed to put you height/width -height 1024 -width 768 Put instead of 1024/768 put your resolution/
latin0
I keep getting GTA IV FATAL ERROR:DD3D80 after removing ** for resolution when i launch game

thales100
That card just cant do it, I suppose. Its under the minimum requirements to run the game.
Drag_Drift
That card just cant do it, I suppose. Its under the minimum requirements to run the game. But the PS3's GPU is roughly the same specs as a 7800. It runs the game smoothly.
latin0
this card should be able to handle it, i can go in graphic settings while playing and set to 1280 res and everything changes and i am able to play I read through forums for this error. I tried every solution i could fine Tab on game and set settings file to read only after saving my res, changing hertz to 800x600x75 then placing command line file in there , and even deleted setting files - all with no success. A weird side note though, my screen prompts me whenever i launch a game at its native resolution , but when i launch with ** in command line file with res i do not get prompt that its not set native. Weird thing is it shows 800x600 in graphics tab but it doesnt look as distorted as 800x600 would be when im there. Maybe its still forcing my res just not showing it..? is there any way to check in game, like a command ?
anus
First of all, you should NOT be using the "-availablevidmem" command with a card as slow as yours. It'll KILL performance. About your settings issue, I had this problem some time ago as well. Try doing the following: Delete your "commandline.txt". Remove commands from the shortcut too. Now delete the settings file as well. Make a new "commandline.txt" file with ONLY the "-norestrictions" command. Start up the game and hoose and apply the settings you want. Exit the game. Open up your "commandline.txt" file and add the "-novblank" command. That's all. Now your settings should be saved. This is how I fixed it. latin0
Thanks you got it, fixed it! other problem i have though, some items seem kinda staticky(like ddigital streaks)(buildings, signs and even my pants) when looking at them even close then i will have times when i will be looking in one direction and an item like a bush wont be there and after walking only a few feet towards it, it appears, or i will make a turn on a corner and nothing will be there then before i knew it i just plowed a bench. Sometimes people will appear white shadows until i get closer to them almost like the game is loading data. I dont know if it doesnt have anything to do with it but i made by view distance 21 and detail 10. Edited February 10, 2009 by latin0
anus
That seems to be a common problem with IV. I get it too. You can fix this by increasing your View Distance and Detail Distance even more or increasing "FarClp" value to something higher than the default value. But keep in mind that all of these tweaks come in the expense of performance .
FakeJ66
i think this commandlines should be ok: -norestrictions -height 1280 -width 1024 -minspecaudio -memrestrict 314572800
anus
Remember that the "-norestrictions" command causes missing textures for most, if not all, who use it .
