great, well put together, there setup was better than any other online game I have played. Well organized with a good amount of game modes. 16 people was enough for me. I loved the Multiplayer but there wasn't enough player customization, I wish it was more like SR2 in that way.

Great well put together, it's really an awesome multiplayer game. At the moment, I have four games that can be played online, and I play gtaiv the most. It's just awesome.

Good, I enjoyed it. It only bothers me that I never play with 16 people, but 2 vs 2 in team deathmatch. And I get disconnected a lot.

 

But other then that, it's great. Great modes smile.gif

ok other then the lobby system-- love getting thrown into random matches (especially races)-- I want to do Free race, but get thrown into a heli or road race...

Well some of it is ok, but it needs a more comprehensive lobby system, and has some latency issues. As for the actual game modes, they are pretty good, particularly race modes. But there is plenty more they could do with it. It could be far, far better

Its their first online for GTA. They done well but obviously some issues. AA, disconnections, can't search for games etc.

I love it, i have played it pretty much daily since day 1.

None of the bugs really bother me that much as i seem to get those in other mp games anyway.

For the future 60 player rooms (like resistance 2) imagine a freemode with 60 lunatics in it? Awesome devil.gif

Also i would like to see lobbies so i can choose to join aa off games.

But over all awesome

Ok, why? Because the lobby system is below average. I think R* needs to learn a listen or two from infinity ward/activison. In team deathmatches, deathmatches, or whatever mode you are playing, you don't need for most users to be ready. It is simply a waste of time in team deathmatch when you have many players. And you shouldn't be the one joining the team level 8,9 and 10s are. It is not you decision. Other then that, good multiplayer.

Multiplayer's pretty good, except for the lobby and player customization. Should get more different types of clothes for your character. Although it doesn't matter. Just the lobby system, which is OKAY...

The MP modes are great, but the MP system itself in IV is absolute rubbish at best. There is a little bit of good but it's really got a lot of issues.

The lobby system is terrible. You never know what you're going to find. If you don't like a game and try for another one, half the time it puts you right back into the very same lobby over and over and over and over again. Sometimes instead of putting you back into the lobby you just left, it will put you into the game as it has just started....a game which you obviously did not want to participate in after leaving the lobby a dozen times.

Disconnections happen all the time. You get sent back to single player after "Disconnected from game session." Other times some odd reason you'll get "connection to one or more players lost" which can happen at anytime including during a game, which might be one you're doing particularly well at.

Spectator mode. There is only one way out, return to single player, reenter MP. I don't want to watch as 10 GTA Racers take the full 60 minutes allowed for a GTA race to have a deathmatch. I don't want to watch 8 laps of southern switch either. It should not put people in spectator mode unless they were invited to that particular game.

Idle hosts suck. There should be a time limit for the host to begin the game as soon as the majority of the room is ready. It should not hinge entirely on the host. How many times have you been in a 16 player room with 15 boxes check and the only one that isn't is the host? You're screwed until you either find another game or the host gets kicked.

What determines who becomes the host after another host leaves or is kicked? It should go to the players who were in the room the longest first, not just the bozo that just entered the room 3 seconds prior.

Race money distribution is piss poor at best. In a 10 car race the first 5 positions award money even if the bottom 5 finished. The only people who should not get money in Race are those that do not complete the course.

Got a few more to add:

Spawn protection absolutely needs to go away for modes in which you spawn with a weapon. Deathmatches, Cops N Crooks, Turf War....how many times has someone spawned next to you and you can't do sh*t while they blast away at you? Spawn protection creates an absolutely unlevel playing field when you spawn with a weapon. Now in modes like GTA Race when you spawn without a weapon, spawn protection is justified.

The option to set weapons to off or to health only in GTA Race. It's rare, but sometimes the moron host chooses to turn weapons off or health only. The whole point of GTA Race is to use weapons. Having health only is absolutely pointless as you can't really kill someone without a weapon. How the hell and why is they even an option? It renders GTA Race useless.

In regular Race mode if you flip over on your top it takes far too long to flip back over. It's got to be 5 seconds, which can cost you a ton in a Race. Also if you get hit while you're one your top it will not reset you until another 5 seconds after you've stopped getting hit, unless you're lucky enough to get knocked back on all 4. By then the rest of the pack is miles ahead and you're fu*ked. Your other option is respawn, but the last checkpoint could be leagues behind you.

Lag in games. In combat it's usually the rocket launchers and their explosions causing lag. How many times have you loaded two clips worth of headshots into a guy that continues to shoot rocket, reload, shoot rocket, reload, shoot rocket then you die or if you're lucky you get him too? Also in race modes when there are a ton of cars such as on the first few corners there is a ton of lag, framerates about 2-3 FPS...makes for a lot of fun.

I would give R* a B- for their first real attempt at online gameplay...

 

I won't be as forgiving on their next attempt, but I think that they are truly using IV as almost a Beta for the next one...

 

R* has exceeded my expectat5ions so many times in the past, I am willing to give them the benifit of the doubt until their next venture.

I played the multiplayer for quite a long time and I enjoyed it a lot. I voted Good though because it would've been much better with a better lobby, the connection problems get annoying as well.

People complain about it constantly to me, yet loads of people play it purely for Multiplayer. I don't see what could be better than a game like GTA, What people have to remember is, its the first time its come Online for PS3 & Xbox, it will get better & better. It has unlimited potential.

It's basically their first 'go' at this in a GTA installment. We should appreciate any effort made to finally bring the series into the multiplayer era. ph34r.gif

I think that it's important to voice your likes and dislikes about the game and MP. I would bet that R* does read what is discussed to help engineer a fantastic game the next time around.

 

Don't get me wrong, I love this game. I play it pretty much exclusively. after buying IV I bought both MCLA and Battlefield Bad Company. I played MCLA for about 3 or 4 days but had to get back to IV. Battlefield, although I played the MP Demo heavily, is a fun game IMO but I just couldn't pull myself from IV. I haven't touched any of my other PS3 games in months, literally. It is in fact the MP in IV that keeps me coming back. Without it, I'd have already done everything there is in the other games for sure.

 

With that being said, here's some more negative lol....

Car spawns. Particularly in Turf War, where it can take quite a while to get from turf to turf. There are times that finding a car is like trying to win the lottery. Other times you walk up to a car that's clearly sitting on your screen, but your player stands there like a douche bag as if the car is invisible.

If playing an AA game the aim can't keep up. Not a big deal, but if you're trying to stop someone and they fly by you, you can't really shoot at them until they are more in line with you but by then they get out of range for both AA and free aim.

The target is difficult to see at times. For those that have theirs set to basic, try aiming at something very bright while still seeing the location of your target on your screen. It'd be nice if the target would change to a darker color to help you see exactly what you are aiming at. If in AA it's not a huge deal, unless your trying to free aim.

Spawn points. I'm not real sure about the other modes but it sucks particularly in Turf War. You get spawned in proximity to your teammates like any mode, but it's not like your main objective is to just shoot the other team. There are times where your team can literally get machined off the map. Your only hope is that all your team mates get killed at once and you'll spawn somewhere far away enough from the other team that you have a chance to do something.

Quite often if you use the XMB while a game is loading you'll get disconnected. Not sure if it's a R* or PSN thing, but it's still a joke.

You also don't have to play a ranked game they have non ranked games too and you can jump in and out of games while they are in progress. That sounds bad, but it can be great also.

If you're a griefer and you love griefing the races you guys would totally love jumping in the middle of races already going on and cause major grief. There's no waiting for the game to start or anything like that or someone seeing you and trying to kick you before the race even starts.
