RATEDR307
I've been working on a comic for a while. It's not on the computer- it's just a paper and pencil comic. It's more of a comic novel. It's also a very rustic comic- I just draw all of it on notebook paper, although I do go to lengths to keep it in top notch condition. The question I have is this- when I finish the comic, how will I "publish" it or distribute it to people? I'm not interested in selling it or anything, but it would be nice to distribute it to people who are interested in it. How would I do this? I think it's important to note that I don't own a scanner or printer or anything like that, although I DO plan on purchasing a scanner in the future to scan the comics onto the computer. Should I just scan the comics and print them out page by page, copy by copy? Or should I go digital and make it into a web series? If it's the latter, how would I do that? Would I have to create a web site, or could I post it on Deviant art or something? Someone please help me!
QwertyAAA
First step - make it at least somewhat popular. At least on teh interwebz. Only then try to find somebody to publish it.
Rhoda
This site may help, I just stuck "get my comic published" into Google, first result, easy peasy lemon squeezy.
eDad.
I really wouldn't print it on paper, cause do you really know anyone who would buy it? And consequently; where would you sell it? eBay? Going webcomic is easiest, and setting up a site with an archive and some navigation buttons isn't too much work, there's a number of (free) site-providers that can help you out with it. Really, if you're not sure this is the thing, or if it's gonna be a hit, go webform. You can set it up for free and see the responses. If it does take off, you can always look into printed copies. Lochie_old
I'm going to expand on eDad's webcomic idea by suggesting you set up your website using some handy blogging sites. some good ones are; Blogspot This is the run-of-the-mill blog, just post sh*t and it'll archive itself for you. Really easy to use. WordPress I've never used this before, but I know its a lot like (if not exactly) like blogspot. Tumblr tumblr is probably the most fanciest of blogs, you can make your own themes and code it too your hearts contempt. /my 2c
eDad.
To be honest, a blog doesn't really support a running comic very well. I'd sooner suggest googlepages because you can add or romve pages easily. Upload pages and edit them before publishing, set themes, etc. I really urge you to check it out if you're going the web-route. I've used it myself for a running comic where people could vote on the next bit of the adventure and worked out quite well (and easily, I might add). Rhoda
I would've thought the biggest issue with webcomics is distribution, and how you'd get your website (or any website for that matter) known. How would you go about that?

How would you go about that? There's a bunch of weblists out there, but to be honest I never bothered with them. The easiest way for me was having people who knew your comics go there and tell their friends, who told their friends, who told their friends. Real advertising, as in banners and all that horsesh*t rarely works. When's the last time you clicked an adbanner?
DeeperRed
When's the last time you clicked an adbanner? This morning, apparently I can make $20,000,000 a day just sitting at home doing nothing.
Omnia sunt Communia
deviantART may be a good companion, to help spread the word about your comic. The wonderful thing about that place is you can draw a comic where pregnant toddlers sh*t out bats that are secret nazis bent on taking over the world by buttf*cking popular videogame characters and there will be a large group of users who will tell you how amazing it is. eDad.
Tell you what. The time I found out about Hitler being drawn as a girl and peeing his pants? Yeah, that's when I quit visiting DA.
