TruXter
start with lowest settings possible. and just adjust your way up till unstable, then adjust back a bit. post your settings when you get back.
juscal
Use the auto-adjust feature. If you get a good FPS, slowly increase things.
The_Cheese_Man
I recommend what Truxter suggested. The recommended settings didn't make my game smooth. After I put shadow density to 0, shadow resolution to low and water resolution to medium, I got a fairly smooth fps (my laptop CPU is kinda sucky)

TruXter
Hello im looking for a graphic setting with a good balance between visual and performance,im using Nvidia 8600 GT My other hardwares are AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.00 GHz 6.00GB RAM 64-bit Vista Operating System also im using Vista DX9, should i upgrade to DX10? what better features does it bring? DX10 will work fine with dx9 programs. Vista is a great o/s as you have seen and experienced for yourself. So enjoy. the drivers for it are amazing. Sad thing to tell you is an 8600, is not an amazing card. So cranking everything to full blast is not going to help you. You will need to set as low as you can and work your way up. Until it all works. Edited February 8, 2009 by TruXter
