Weapon Melee

Your enemies can melee with weapons, and i've seen videos where the player character can melee with a weapon, and when i asked my friend (who uses a controller) how he does it, he ust said he pressed the fire button in close range, but it doesent work for me. Is it not possible to weapon melee without a controller, at all, or am i just not getting something. p.s. sorry if theres an obvious answer to this, i looked around, cant find anything.

You can punch just by left-clicking with your mouse, or hit with a melee weapon the same way after you choose it with your mousewheel.

I'd still like to know how to do that on PC as well, and I've also heard that controllers will do it on PC version. I thought it might be Q or something but haven't gotten that to work either.

Its when u aim & get 2 close to your opponent, your character will then automatically punch with the weapon to get some range

as far as i've seen, my guy just lifts up hist gun in the same way he would if he came close to a wall, and would refuse to shoot or do any action (but the AI would just hit me, then shoot me at point blank and kill me) and im wondering how i do the same...i have NEVER seen it done outside console-based youtube vids.

i managed to do it on the PC version, and without a controller

apparently if there's no room to raise the weapon to his shoulders, Niko just uses it to bash the enemy...

just note that bashing someone with a rifle makes considerably less damage than actually firing it biggrin.gif

i think it's done with the left mouse button, without aiming... or aiming... i'm not sure

experiment on pedestrians, it's surely possible, if it doesn't work, try punching them to cause a fight, all i know is that it IS possible, and that the pedestrians are always there to take a beating tounge2.gif

Cheers

Alright I just jumped into the game specifically to try it and I couldn't get it to work aiming or not. When not aiming he just brougt the gun up and raised it as if he were too close to wall when I tried firing. While aimed in nothing would happen although one time the gun went off when at rest that close to someone. Tried it on some hostile cops too but I would just not move and then the cop would pistol whip me. Definitely not a game killer but it would be great help in close quarters like in Bomb Da Base II trying to assault mess hall.

you might be referring to niko pushing people aside, but actually pistol whipping/hitting them with the stock is what i want. pushing people aside deals no damage apart frm physics damage, but melee attacks are *supposed* to be quite damaging, and leave someone stunned for a few shots at point blank... *sigh* <rant>i think microsoft just really wants me to buy a controller sad.gif weapon melee, auto aim, convienent chopper controls.... </rant>

well, i figured that much out a while ago...i thought maybe someone still knew a may..problem is if i search for anything that has to do with weapon melee on google, it switches it to "melee weapon" and gives me a rank about fists, baseball bats and knives...so a weapon melee mod is nearly impossible <rant> microsoft controllers suck the mouse is much more comfortable!!!! </rant>

I have even purchaised one of these glory xbox-joypads.

BUT, the Rumble-feature doesn´t work, I cannot move the view with the right stick while I´m walking (in cars it works!), and by the enourmous ass of Zeuss, I cannot even fly a chopper in a comfortable way!

So that damn thingy does Jack to improve my game experiences..

Back to Topic:

What would be interesting too, how can I do these special combat-moves I have seen in some videos.

You know, Niko throws his fist around, or he catchs the head of the opponent to hit his face with his knee.

Eventually I am just driving with that damn pad.. but even here I´m missing the RumbleBumble.

May be I missed something essential to make my pad working correct... but I cannot figure it out.

Hmm, very strang.

I was too and too close that an enemy screamed "Get you f*cking pigs-hand off my

body!"

And I was not able to weapon-melee that sucker. confused.gif

Did I missed something?

melee has auto aim on pc.

get close to the enemy and hold your right mouse button, this will target the guy you are looking at.

Left mouse button punches

q kicks

theres another punch button but cant remember what that is

and space blocks, which after blocking you come back with a, roundhouse kick or head butt.

enjoy.

  • 2 months later...

sorry for writing in old topic but

you can melee in GTA IV without auto-aim with button:

...

ESC !

yes, it's true. just select weapon (eg. shotgun), stand near someone, push ESC and Niko will melee him and pause menu will appear. push ESC again and you will see this person laying in front of you.

congratz R* ! lol. suicidal.gif

/ sorry if this was already mentioned

For special combination You have to punch/kick, then block opponent´s attack, and attack again.

To get "Finish Him" achievement 10 of these encounters must be done in 4 minutes.
