The amount of cars spawning is not a glitch, they keep on respawning on the way, depending on how far you are from Lance. If you are only a bit ahead only the three first one's will spawn. And if you destroy a fourth car near Lance he'll say "It's time for some Vance vengeance, baby!" again, just like he says before entering the mansion. And the goons are too many, if it's too hard you can just destroy the barricade and drive your bike quickly to the back and step into the mansion's interior.

I despise San Andreas for its
  • Unnecessary realism - eating and such (R* might as well as made us take a dump)
  • Atmosphere - I'd prefer to do without things such as the heat haze effect.
  • Boring finale to the storyline.
Overall, I feel that Vice City is better. I enjoyed completing the storyline and exploring the city.

A boring finale? Man, you can say anything of SA but that. SA's ending is by far the most exciting and epic. The boring one was VC's. Good for a movie like Scarface, bad for a videogame like Vicy City.

I agree. SA had the best finale in the entire GTA series and actually featured a lot other than a huge shoot-out inside a mansion only to kill two pricks who have betrayed you. Plus that one was just a Scarface rip-off with Tommy being the winner as the only difference. SA had so much into it and the riots made it more exciting.

In my opinion GTA3 is the best. Not only because it was the 1st with 3d graphics it was the one that put the franchise into the worlds eyes

The only thing about SA I'd improve was draw distance and slow-to-load textures.

I'd say it's a pretty damn good game. wink.gif

i like GTA VC more than SA because you wont get confused in the whole big world of SA and VC's map was small and therefore easy to understand

SA rocks though I reserve a change of favor for IV since I haven't played it yet. I can't seem to decide perfect config n brand for my new PC n current one can't handle it. sigh.gif

But I'm about 80% sure San Andreas has better replay-value for non storyline missions and free-rome.

I spend hrs doin these.

1. Flying all aircrafts(mostly fixed-wing though) around all the map or any single city.

2. Normal Railroad Simulation, Derailing trains, Riding flatbed freight cars(eventually get thrown outta car after speed is increased. sometimes I get myself wanted to spice up)

3. Pimping n Burglary

4. Bike stunts in SF.

5. Custom rampages which could vary a lot due to larger map and stunning landscapes. Skin(GFX) is not imp for me mesh is. Otherwise Liberty City(GTA3) is my 2nd best mesh of what I own ATM.

I strongly believe GTA SA has the highest number of variables that can affect the gameplay this creating highest no. of unique gameplay styles. It has something for everyone. Many ppl have done some crazy things wink.gif after completing 100% in normal manner. e.g. some ppl done lots/all of xtra jobs even b4 touching main story.

GTA SA - icon14.gif

GTA IV - you are on hold tounge.gif

I love it for the MASSIVE map. I have never seen anything that big in any game. You honestly really do need planes to get around on that map! Just amazes me every time I fire up San Andreas PC.

I think GTA IV is number one for me. SA number two.

GTA IV Is number one in terms of the real-life New York city look. SA gave us such missions which was never seen before. In IV, i can guarantee that all missions are a rip-off from SA. Now, that's not number one as far I'm concerned. Even VC's missions were quite tougher and brainteasing at times compared to IV.

GTA IV is number last in my list (6). Realism is one of the worst ways to represent GTA with and that's how R* did it with IV, which I am very disappointed over.

1. SA/VCS

2. SA/VCS

3. III

4. VC

5. LCS

6. IV

After going back and starting San Andreas again, I have come to the conclusion that GTA IV is the best GTA game yet. GTA San Andreas was amazing at the time, but after IV, it can be quite frustrating. Obviously, San Andreas looks like a** compared to IV (This is a fact), but it's plethora of activities and plain "stuff to do" is a huge redeeming quality. However, that is really the only thing I think San Andreas has an advantage over IV.

I found the controls in San Andreas to be a pain in the a** (I played both the Xbox and PS2 vs). There really is no fluidity to it, where such is the case in IV. The aiming controls were awful, my gun kept on point up in the air or my guy turning around, it wasn't easy (or fun) trying to lock on to an enemy, or aiming in general. The AI in general is horrendous.

Overall, I'd say that the graphics (obviously), detail, voice acting, sound effects, physics engine, combat, and driving to be far superior in IV. San Andreas had far better missions overall (although I think 4 Leaf Clover is possibly the best GTA mission ever), but because of the frustrations of the aiming controls, I didn't enjoy them as much. The only real reason I have to continue to play San Andreas (now that I've started again) is for the safe houses, business, and customizations.

I also think it is unfair for people to think GTA San Andreas is better than IV just because it has "more". I remember after playing San Andreas I was unhappy that several features didn't make it into the final game. I thought it was short of being perfect and hoped that IV would be "perfect". I've realized that it's an impossible goal. They simply can't put in everything that everyone could possibly want. Although GTA IV doesn't have as much "stuff" (safehouses, businesses, activities, customization, etc), I found that everything in the game is done completely. By that, I mean, they didn't put a feature in the game and not really put the "finishing" touches on it. Everything is tight, clean, and has a polished look. I found that in San Andreas, there were many missions, activities, and just random stuff that seemed like they just threw it into the game and really didn't put in the time to get it "perfect". Thus, I think the overall quality of IV is better than that of San Andreas (and i'm not just talking about graphics). I really think it is a case of quality vs quantity. I will take quality over quantity every single time.

For me, I still have fun going back and playing past GTA titles, but GTA IV IS the best and most enjoyable game to date. It's just plain hard to go back and have as much fun with the previous titles.

cookie.gifcookie.gifcookie.gifcookie.gifcookie.gif Well to count the amount of hours I spent researching, talking, playing and thinking about that game is countless. I think it is the best but in the story line department i think gta4 wins, i was excited from the start of gta4. cookie.gif

Well for me I think its unfair that people say 4 is the best because of "Graffics" and "Realism." Many, many people on these forums would agree with me. tounge2.gif All in all, I do agree the controls in san andreas are slightly frustrating after playing 4, but they aren't near as bad as 3 or vice city. And the variety in San Andreas makes up for the old engine it is ran on. San Andreas, in my opinion, is the greatest Grand Theft Auto title ever made. In fact, it is possibly greatest video game ever made.

for me the only thing 4 has over san andreas is the grapchis and the shooting system is really cool too..but san andreas has a lot more to offer than 4 for example there is hadley any replay value to 4 because they is hardley any extra things to do and the ones that there is are really dull where has san andeas was just packed with extra stuff .Im not trying to bash 4 but it went too realistic and the game its self seemed just dull overall and with working in a gameshop ive never heard a game get bashed like gta 4 (probely due to the hype etc )has most gamers i speak to rate san andreas the number one game.

I agree 100%. IV feels so much more polished than SA, and it's not just graphics, and physics.

R* put so much effort into making things interwine. I've spent hours looking through the in game internet, and reading articles that link with in game events. Most people would find that boring, but I don't.

I don't really play GTA for the extra "activities". I'd be a fool to say that I don't like just mucking around, because I do, but I play GTA mainly for the story, and IMO IV's story> SA's story 1000 times over.

Ok once the story is done in IV it does get a bit boring, but multiplayer fixes that problem. Even in SA after I finished the story I was starting to get bored, so I stopped playing it for a while, and redone the story again.

I don't even think you guys should be comparing SA with IV in the first place. IV is in a league of its own. SA can be compared to games like III, VC, LCS and VCS; the same way you can compare IV with the forth coming games.

GTA IV will stop being played when GTA V comes out. I doubt that GTA SA will ever stop being played, mostly because a game like GTA SA is a one-off, even amongst the GTA games. GTA III and IV just Liberty City, GTA Vice City just Vice City, the likelihood, given that games are getting shorter and with smaller gameworlds (Morrowind vs Oblivion, System Shock 2 vs Bioshock) or with less content (Rome and Medieval II Total War vs Empire Total War, Dawn of War vs Dawn of War 2), it is unlikely we will ever see a GTA game like this again, let alone any game like this again.

I also doubt we will see any game in the future of the size and with the content of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I expect games (even GTA games) that are smaller and with less content than games that are already smaller than GTA SA. So current games that are 1/3 the size of GTA SA will still seem big in a year or two!

In my opinion, San Andreas is the best and may never be beaten.

The features, weapons, gangs, map size, vehichles and the best easter eggs. IV is only better in the term of graphics, physics and technology. This dosen't matter so much to me, so San Andreas takes the win. biggrin.gif

Yes, I do think Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the best game in the series and probably one of the best games ever made. Just look at how much work R* did with this game... to be honest I wouldn't have been disappointed if the storyline had covered only the city of Los Santos with some countryside - maybe it's because I enjoy LS and the missions there the most, who knows. But hell yeah, three major cities with some rural area and all those side-missions, oysters, tags, horseshoes and the variety of fun characters, great humor, awesome storyline... This game has everything and I mean everything you would expect from an action packed sandbox game. It just offers so much pleasure I can't describe it. Nowadays graphics means too much to people. Sure GTA IV looks great but it still isn't the same as SA and really SA's graphics isn't bad if you crank up the display options.
