OK, so there has been a lot of GTA's added since San Andreas, yet it still seems to be the most popular one in the series so far.

What do you think?

I love San Andreas for its:

  • Large Area
  • Myriad Vehicles
  • Various Locales and missions
  • Character customisability
  • Multiplayer add-ons, such as SA-MP and MTA.

I despise San Andreas for its

  • Unnecessary realism - eating and such (R* might as well as made us take a dump)
  • Atmosphere - I'd prefer to do without things such as the heat haze effect.
  • Boring finale to the storyline.

Overall, I feel that Vice City is better. I enjoyed completing the storyline and exploring the city.

You can drive a tractor yay! Go GTA:SA! But ragdoll physics is just sickening to say no to........

GTA:SA did advance the series a lot to a benchmark for all free-roaming games including saints row. It ain't a rip off. well imitation is the greatest form of appreciation!

GTA IV yay HD!

Both very good! me likey!

I’d say San Andreas is better…

GTA IV is the only GTA game that I’ve played since the release of San Andreas, and it’s only better in a couple of areas: vehicle driving & handling, and the ability to do early side-missions with a 6-Star Wanted level.

…but I’d like to know how someone who started a new member account yesterday has the ability to start a poll; and he’s already been “busted”

I’ve never had the ability to create polls, yet it seems that several other members can do it whenever they want to… what’s the trick? Am I just missing something?

I love San Andreas, but I don't think that some of the new features were needed. For example, how you get hungry over time. I hated that.

But there were excellent features added as well, such as gang wars. THAT was awesome. Recruiting gang members was interesting, too.

You must be missing the "New Poll" button.

In the San Andreas forum, go to the bottom of the page where it says "New Poll" and click on that.

Here is a screenie of the location: >Click<

If you cant see that, find a mod and ask what is wrong because all users should be able to do that.

The Gen Chat Poll has been removed because of abuse of the feature, though.

@Topic: SA is and will always be the best in the series. Well, until they bring out a good game not set in LC which gas the IV graphics and vehicle handling.

Vice City is actually my favourite but San Andreas is truly jaw dropping. Best features include-

Flying planes and storing them at verdant meadow

Cooler, longer missions. Even the earlier ones were long

Diversity. Hollywood, Gang Turf, Countryside, Desert and

LV all in one

Car modding at arch angels

Monster truck time trial (can you retry)

cool mountain vehicles (see interdiction)

K-DST and Radio X shiy on V Rock

Stealing trains and derailing them with 6 wanted stars

Bayside and boats

One bad thing- I hated sweet and the grove sh*t, getting out of LS

is relieving after all that "nigga 4 lyf" and OG Loc sh*t

I just laugh at those cutscenes.

San Andreas will always be the best GTA game in my opinion, well unless they bring something similar with the ghetto gangs type, gangstas and a radio station as good as Radio Los Santos. Otherwise nothing beats SA, never.. ever.

VCS is just a close second in my book.

I really like SA for the shear variety the map offers. No other game I've ever played offers the diversity of SA. From the ghetto of LS, to the countryside, to the hussle of SF, to the hot desert, and to the glitz of LV.

I'm not a big fan of the ghetto, but since the game has so much more, it's not really a problem.

Best GTA ever? Not sure, because I always change my mind. It's hard when they're all such great games.

Wow we can make polls now?!!??! B4 it was that you couldn't B4 OMG OMG *orgasms* ...... Soz for that last part.....

ON TOPIC: I didn't really give a proper answer. I think GTA:SA did set a benchmark for the GTA series and did add new and unique gameplay, such as recruiting, huge open world and a RPGish stat screen. GTA IV looks good (obviously, it's on a next-gen console) and I think it can release more titles of such great quality. I would like to see HD graphics on a deserty, foresty and urbanised world like in San Andreas.

GTAIII will always be the best for me, but of course SA comes extremely close with its variety of options.

SA for life icon14.gif .. As Zoom said, GTA IV is not a game which will bowl you over. The first time i played SA, i had some missions which i had never seen before. Think about missile dodging, robbing a bank big time, racing like hell with your mate in a crowded city and many other missions. CJ"s style, aggression was beautiful. I can guarantee that a SA player who has completed the game will not find IV's storyline excellent. All the missions in SA are pretty much similar to IV. Of course, a few area in IV are better because of the advancement in age.

Zoom: You should be able to create polls. Try again. Even i had the same problem when i was new here. Now, i can create them anytime icon14.gif . I'm sure nothing's wrong on your side smile.gif .

Sorry but I thought GTA SA had the best missions, and IV the worst. GTA IV had some really boring missions, and got really repetitive. GTA SA had a great variety (think robbing uncle sam, stowaway, black project, dam and blast)

Yep, the missions in IV have no variety at all. It's all just.. go there, kill that guy, lose your wanted level and bah...

In SA there are a bunch of varieties, drive-by's, simply driving, huge shoot-outs, flying, races, stealth and more...

Plus in IV all the missions are a bunch of deals and stuff where something MUST go wrong, just too uncreative.

IV's missions aren't that bad. How are they anymore repetitive than GTA III, VC, LCS, and VCS? SA is different, because of the map, and thus opening up alot of possibilities for different types of missions. Considering IV was an entire urban setting I thought R* done a great job with the missions.

Yeah alot of the missions are go here, kill this person/bunch of people, escape, but name me one GTA where most of the missions DON'T use the same formula?

IMO the best mission in IV was "I'll take her" where you kidnap Gracie Ancellotti. It was pretty simple, but I love the way it was done.

In saying that I can see why there's so much emphasise on deals going wrong, car chases, shootouts etc. It suits Niko's story.

I know what you're saying, but IMO with San Andreas R* took as much time they could, to make the game as enjoyable as possible and so you don't get bored and complain about the game. So they added several different lifestyles and different types of missions, from killing a few gang members to doing a drive-by on some, to save your brother from the SWAT inside a motel to rob a few small time stores in the countryside to burn the marijuana in a farm to perform an organized robbery on a casino and escorting and stuff. IMO, GTA3 was quite good for a first attempt for R*, the missions are not always the same formula, even if they include killing, it changes from the ways. Once you have to kill gang members during a war on the streets, then you blow up a factory and laundry vans, then once you get to kill suicide bombers who chase you and chase someone in a car while being wanted by the police.

That's what I saying about SA's map. R* took full advantage of it, and that's why the missions have more variety.

IV has what? 94 main story missions in total? That's alot of missions to try, and add variety to for a single city. I don't mean to sound like I'm making up excuses, but that's the way I look at it.

IV is the only GTA where I haven't despised any mission in particular. Some might say the missions in IV are boring, but you know what I find boring? Being stuck on hard missions in past GTAs.

Drains the fun completely out.

Some missions are fun to get stuck on. I would say it is better to have less missions that have more variety (VC,VCS, III) than to have too many without it, but still, they were good.

I know where you're coming from, but come on, who doesn't love the feeling of just barely beating a hard level that has frustrated you completely sh*tless all week? There's no better feeling than knowing it's over and you completely conquered it. smile.gif

I had this exactly feeling with High Wire in Vice City Stories. I struggled days with it and when I finally beat it, I was partying!

In Liberty City Stories, I had such situation with Love on the Rocks.

In San Andreas, I had something similar with the flying missions like Supply Lines, before mastering them like now.

In GTA III quite a few missions were hard to get past, but when I managed I always got the feeling they are just easy missions.

With GTA IV I always stressed when doing missions, but beat them sooner or later.

Some missions are techically impossible becuase of glitches. On my psp I have the worst AI in the world in light my pyre, and there are 2 cars from the start shooting at lance. Then lance dies (get this) before I destroy the 2nd car.

NIGHTMARE! devil.gif

I also took about 3 weeks on copland becuase the police got me so fast, my car would turn upside down- and lance would just run away.

Light My Pyre is my favorite mission in the entire GTA series. I just love it! It's true that Lance always spins you out or blocks your way, but you can just do a sideway drive-by... And if you stay ahead of him the last bunch of cars wont spawn.

I'm thinking of trying it again on the psp but trust me- the few glitches in the game I have experienced make this mission x2 harder than it needs to be. I'll report back if I ever do it.

Its my favourite GTA by far, but It would be awesome if it was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 with the graphics of GTA IV, and the online play.

That would be the best game ever, no questions

What glitch are you talking about? I only know about bad AI.

Lance blocks your way to shoot forward at the enemy cars. Police bothering you for no reason which annoys the hell out of me. If Lance manages to runs you out an excessive row of Sentinel XS's spawn and start performing heavy drive-by causing Lance most likely to lose a lot of health or just die. I always get ahead, hop off my PCJ and minigun them all. Then on the gunfight outside the mansion, a goon always spawns behind you at several spots with an AK-47 and will most likely take down half your health which is a problem. I still love the mission but for the last con it is just not as enjoyable to keep killing these never-ending goons.

The glitches are that instead of fighting 3 cars I have to end up fighting 5. Then if lance survives I can't auto aim to select the mendez goons and die pretty fast. Trust me- the closest I got to the house was about 20 yards outside the porch.
