FreshAdmin
Personally I liked this film and was dissappointed by the second one. What do you think?

Hart
I watched it expecting it to be really sick (The DVD case stated it was "the sickest film you'll ever see". But they always exaggerate) and I was disappointed. It got pretty boring really, and I havent seen the second one.
MC.
I never knew there was a second one but the first movie sucked ass.
Slamman
The first one I saw playing at the video store I rent from, where the torture scene of the eye plucking was happening, and typically, that is unsettling while you are browsing the films for rent/purchase. Mind you, the business is mostly adult and that section is the one most used, oddly enough, so the R rated content was not assaulting Disney families. It was disturbing non the less... and I got the film to see shortly thereafter. When I heard the second one just put females in place of the males, I thought, not worth my time. It'd take a lot to outdo the first one, and that still holds true. It had a real down n dirty magic about it! - I am surprised if you didn't like the first one, I did, and I am not really a horror buff at all. TubbyJ
I'm actually one of the few that liked the first one. It's like the first half is just a goofy Euro-Trip with more boobs, then the next half is a crazy gorefest. But the second is horrible. With the first one I could dismiss everyone saying it was just mindless blood and gore by saying it had at least a little style to it, but the second just has the lamest plot ever. They went wrong with whole behind-the-scenes with the killers, could've been done way better. If you like Hostel, though, or even if you don't, check out Cabin Fever. It's by the same director, and it manages to be both funny and a good gorey horror flick. Edited February 9, 2009 by TubbyJ

The plot was maybe a lil' bit unoriginal, but i liked it. It kinda destroyed the goofy atmosphere that most of the film had but it kept my entertained. What really hurts the movie are the pointless scenes like the train suicide ( With a pretty nice gore effect ).

Groovy
Both of them suck on some balls, nothing redeeming about them whatsoever. And considering who did the fx(KNB) the gore looks like sh*t. Avoid the both of them at all costs.
Scarface187
The first one took a decent idea for a movie and sh*t all over it, and the second one was just Eli Roth putting his f*cked up gore ridden fantasies on film. I hate that guy.

I won't buy it to watch over and over, but I disagree with all the haters and ditto on your comment. The first movie is original and great in my mind, I was shocked by it.... Oddly for me to say, but I have not watched one SAW movie, despite seeing this. I watched the one with the femal cave explorers..The Descent (?), or something, where they meet creatures living in the dark, and that was awesome as well, but I grew up with fear of all scary related things, having terrible nightmares after watching TV, etc. There was a 1980 movie with George Kennedy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Ship_(1980_film) I saw that while rather young in a hotel on cable, it was frightening for me, but also captivating. I have a bit of a fond memory of that movie with images sticking in my mind, that happened with Hostel too.
