johnjp
Is this good enough for GTA4? 256MB, 64 BIT? Whats the downside of 64bit? Thanks!
anus
The 8400GS is HORRIBLE for any sort of gaming. Please, steer clear of it. The 64 bit bus means that it won't be able to address all that RAM and that information is transferred at a much slower speed than other cards with, say, 256 bit buses. Why don't you tell us your budget and where you live? We can then get you a good PC.
johnjp
Also, why don't game publish the Bits required in the game boxes but the memory itself is there?
JeddyH
Because its not really necessary, the game will still function And I have never heard of a 64Bit card, is there a market for really bad memory buses or something
anus
There are still 64 bit cards, but these cards are NOT meant for gaming. They're still fine for office use, but MS Paint probably makes them lag .
johnjp
Does it have any noticeable effect in-game? Does it slowdown? By the way, I don't plan to max out the settings. Just the lowest setting is fine with me. I just want it to be playable meaning no lags, no hang, etc. for example, Im content with 25fps San Andreas in my gma900 laptop. anus
I'd really be surprised if it can run at 25FPS at even the lowest settings to be honest... The card is not meant for gaming, simple as that. I'm 99% sure that you won't get it running at 25FPS.
ron123
The min card to buy for modern games is the 9800GT/HD4830 lower cards will just make problems and will not able to play at all on normal/high settings of modern games. I will advice the HD4850 512MB GDDR3 as a cheap card for good performance.
