Anybody know what is enhanced ? Multi core definetely yes, 64 bits i dunno, some ppl report to have lower FPS than running a 32 bits os, but for others it seems to be faster. emcax24
the ink they printed that part with on the box has glitter in it. thats the enhancement.

Drag_Drift
the ink they printed that part with on the box has glitter in it. thats the enhancement. Smartest comment in the thread. I don't know any performance boosts 64-bit users experience, apart from the bigger RAM recognition. But as usual Let's hope R* add that to a future patch

Defuser
It doesn't use any more RAM. It runs as a 32 bit application, and is subject to exactly the same restrictions. Running a 32 bit application in a 64 bit environment does not allow it to automatically use more RAM (more than the absolute maximum of 4GB on the 32 bit Windows platforms, anyway). It has to be coded for the purposes of doing so. There are no 64 bit enhancements outside of the fact that the game will run on a 64 bit OS, as will most 32 bit applications. Most don't advertise it on the box, however.
chngdman
As far as I've come to understand the enhancement is that you "don't have to run app in 32bit" lol
udedenkz
As far as I've come to understand the enhancement is that you "don't have to run app in 32bit" lol It doesn't even work with Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 x86_64 ~~ "64-bit enhanced" It is a lie. They probably mean 64-bit compatible, just like 96% of all other 32-bit programs.
High
Some reported that the game uses over 4gigs of ram after playing a few hours through, so the 'enhancement' is to contain the memory leak if you have a supporting hardware?

CameO73
Just for the record: 64-bit allows an operating system to: address ("recognize") 4GB and more; for 32-bit systems, Windows has a 3.2GB address limit due to other address spaces that are needed allow applications to use more than 2GB of memory at a time Especially that last point could be handy for certain programs (e.g. AutoCAD, 3D Studio, movie editing software). Speed differences (+ or -) are usually negligible.

This is true. My RAM usage is usually around 5GB out of my total 8GB when i play for a few minutes and i do not use any commands to remove memory restrictions. noid449
just my own opinion, but it seems a bit sad that we have to "self fix" the problems by using more ram just to solve a leak , which should by now have been addressed . but as im not a programmer or a computer wizard i prob wouldnt know if it has been i have a smooth running game but could be a little more on the fps side ( i know the vram on my quad setup isnt high enuff ) but i can deal. i run with no commands or no mods but still i get a crash more times than not after a while of playing, multiplayer or single player . the problem is i cant point the finger at a reason due to 1000 tug boats or speed boats spawned on the airport, or it raining swat vans in time square. which im sure just fills the memory and textures buffer ..(im clutching at straws as of my lack of programming and ways the game uses resources ).. making it crash or just freeze. * i think the variables of settings is one of the pitfalls of pc gaming. BUT also one of the greatest assets too ! Edited February 7, 2009 by noid449
n050up4u
I have 8GB and it doesn't stop the out of memory crap from happening. that usually would just happen if I used high textures with clip capture on. Don't know why though.. But whatever.
