Mike2k4
Hi all. Have searched, but seeing as I don't have all the time in the world to search through dozens of pages worth of topics, I felt I needed to post a topic about my problem. If anyone knows of a topic similar to this one, please redirect me. I'd be glad to navigate there. Anyway, about my question. Well, my game seems to enjoy crashing after the mission 'Photo Opportunity'. It's when I get a phonecall (I suspect from Cesar, about the yay being moved). Currently running san andreas v1, having downgraded it from v2. Here are my specs, if they help at all: (Layout as is in the Posting Requirements topic) • What platform : PC • What version number of GTA: SA : V1 • What CPU and its speed : Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40Ghz • How much RAM, also what kind (DDR, SDRAM) and speed : 3GB DDR2-SDRAM (don't know how to find speed lol - bit of a noob on the techy side) • What video card : Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT 512MB • Which version of Windows (and any service packs) : Vista Service Pack 1 • Which DirectX version : v10 • What sound card : Erm • History : Has worked before, but once I downgraded from v2 to v1, and then back up to v1.01, things started going wrong. Reinstalled it, downgraded again, but didn't patch it again. Worked fine up until said phonecall. Hope I added enough info there, and thanks in advance for any replies. Girish
Try this: 1) Uninstall SA. 2) Delete the installation folder if it still exists. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas). 3) Delete the Virtual Store copy of the installation folder too. The Appdata folder might be hidden. (e.g. C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas). 4) Delete the gta_sa.set file from your user files folder. 5) Reboot. 6) Reinstall SA. And btw, downgrading does not turn your game into v1. Your game is still effectively v2.
Mike2k4
Thanks for reply. Loaded the game, but before the phonecall could happen I hurried to the save disc icon (doherty garage). No phonecall after that, so hopefully it will be OK. If it does crash again, however, I'll be sure to take your advice.
