Even though the site is down, you can rollover some of the links, and it looks like they've added "the frontier" to the features section, which will obviously house the new video, but hopefully a few new screens too.

EDIT: The map is land locked. It'll be interesting how they manage the borders? Invisible walls? Unpassable mountains?

I thought this was the whole map, but it's only ONE of the three sections: This is only New Austin!

 

Can't F'in believe it!!! but I missed it at the top of the page " The world: Part ONE"..."This is the First of three discrete areas that comprise the game world" !!!!!!

 

Oh man! I don't mind if they delay the video a few more days... just so stoked right now.

 

EDIT: the question now is: Which direction will the map open up? I have a feeling North, but ya never know.

Only speculating, but i guess we can use the steamboat to get from one area to the next?

That might not be the whole of New Austin, the unshaded area to the north could also be a part of NA. There's a bit of relief on the map so I should be able to put a few places on it using the mini-maps (god, I love cartography!)

 

It`s also similar to a map I drew a while back.

 

 

This is where I think the new map fits in the grand scheme

Agree there might be a little bit more to the New Austin map, but kinda think the map will be more of a sandwich style shape.

I think it's going to be like Mercenaries. Different maps in different areas, using a train to reach each one.

The new screens are nice, though some textures and the lighting at night are lacking a bit. I'm sure this game still looks and plays fine, though.

Looking closely at the map, you can see 2 faint bridges and a large dock or harbour...

 

EDIT::: PLUS, it's now confirmed that "steamboats will ferry passengers from outside the territories" (image caption) meaning we'll be able use steamboats to travel between maps!

Loved how you discovered and mapped that small town by using snapshots from the HUD in the gameplay videos... I think you posted it on the IGN forum. That was amazing.

 

Might be tricky seeing how the HUD's minimap is zoomed in quite abit, but hopefully you can piece something together.

But now I think it could be refering to the 3 larger parts of the map as territories.

 

Counties makes the most sense, if not that, then I'd say maybe regions.

I don't think so. The streamboat one says it brings outsiders into the territories, that it runs along the San Luis River and that Marston can ride on it. Seems pretty concrete to me.
