Seeing xbone users play this makes me jealous, but seeing GTA:SA on PS4 also makes me think, what's the point, I have a Xbox 360 still. I've been playing this game more recently, and it still has it's charms. I'm still losing hours just walking my horse aimlessly. I so want a new RDR, but tbh i'm cynical; will it be like gta IV, or like V (far from a single player masterpiece)?

Moreso, i hope rdr 3 actually embraces the outlaw aspect. To hell with a valiant quest for redemption or whatever. I want to play as a complete c*nt, but have complete control (I'm not talking Trevor, but more those badass Eastwood-esque protagonists).

Also that I'm writing a western story, means I've spent more time in this game, but still, that I can still enjoy it, is 10/10.

Pertty sure i post here to say all that every 6-12 months, but f*ck it.

Yes a character that's more morally ambiguous would be nice. I don't think we've ever played a game where the protag is keeping a secret from us, the player. Would be exciting to have a nasty reveal half way through the game that will question the morals of our beloved protag.

A straight-up bad-guy would be nice. Like the best films that have an anti-hero that we kind of root for. Glaring example would be Tony Montana. He's the bad guy but we all sort of root for him.

I do like the way Marston was pretty much a bad guy protecting his family. You really felt like rooting for him though. He was one of the most likeable characters Rockstar has produced.

I saw that you have to go through trouble to find Red Dead on XBOX ONE and the CD's don't work yet. Why do you think Rockstar is waiting to release it fully? Do you think it's possible that Rockstar is working on a 60 FPS and 1080p update for it if that's possible.

This is the off topic gaming subforum and I'm posting about gaming so don't lock it, thanks.

I found this XP glitch. I got from level 18 - 50 in a bit over an hour. I'm now Legendary.

You've been here long enough to realize where sh*t goes, man. Just in case you were wondering why your topics keep getting locked, merged, or moved, relevance goes a long way.

That being said, nice guide to how it works. If this glitch is confirmed I might use it to get my Online character back to the level I was on Xbox 360. Well, when online starts working again on Xbox one.

this only means one thing: the next red dead title is on the way, and it's being announced very soon

maybe they'll have a 30 second commercial during the superbowl?!

"Red Dead Redemption 2! Hopefully they also announce Skyrim 2 this year"

I really want a Red Dead 2, Redemption might be the best open world game R* has ever created IMO and it's mainly because I am a bit biase when it comes to western films like the Sergio Leone films and Clint Eastwood so RDR reminds me so much of those old western films, I really hope this is the next game they come out with, even if it doesn't come out this year just knowing its in development is good enough for me.

This is an excellent marketing move on Rockstar's part. An announcement for a future project is coming soon probably. Gets us all in the mode for some Rockstar joy by releasing an old favorite. This is a marketing move and a smart one at that.

I put that in quotes cause Red Dead Redemption is already Red Dead 2. The next game will be Red Dead 3. I thought it was kinda obvious considering I put "Skyrim 2" in there.

Don't know if I would read too much into the game becoming backwards compatible on the xbox platform. What I do know for certain is that it has been nearly 6 years since RDR came out, nearly 3 since GTA V came out. It's a pretty safe bet that we will get an announcement of some sort this year. Here's hoping that will be for a new Red Dead.

Be it Red Dead or another game, it's widely accepted that Rockstar has been silent for too long, enough to make someone hates GTA Online even more, regardless of whether or not it's relevant.

I always say red dead 2 idk why but I hope red dead 3 will be the next game R* comes out with this year, it's been a long time since Redemption and I think it's time to go back in time with an open world game that's not assassin's creed because this year games are either post apocalyptic (tom clancy's the division) or set in the near future (deus ex mankind divided) yeah I know I only mentioned two games but goddamn it I just want to ride a horse and shoot some bandits with a lever action rifle while admiring the pretty graphics.

So since RDR is obviously coming soon, what would you want it to be?

Spaghetti western or American?

Not sure I understand the question.. Spaghetti Western being attributed to Leone, I don't think it's possible to create a western game without paying homage to the spaghetti greats.

I do hope it's set a few years before RDR timeline. Would love some more mountain exploration and map diversity with a huge forest. I'm hoping we can swim too and some explorable swampy places with lakes would be nice.

RDR was so good, more of the same would suffice but adding some more map diversity with some hidden parts of the map would be nice. Abandoned riverboats, hidden caves, abandoned mines and another creepy ghost town would be great.

Creepy encounters in the woods will be nice.

Also, bounty hunts are fun, but I'd love to have a sort of myth about an elusive gang of 3 or 4. You hear NPC's speak of them at campfires but they're more like a boogeyman-myth but as the game progresses you find clues that they might actually exist.

I'm hoping that R* will get their head out of their ass and release a new game this year. It's going on three years since they've released a new game (I don't count the PS4/Xbox One/PC versions of GTA V as new releases.)

That said, I'm fairly confident that a RDR sequel is their next game, whether or not it releases this year or next year. Their business model has definitely changed in the last few years. They've moved away from single player, and are now focusing on GTA Online. They're also releasing fewer games, as they used to churn out at least one new title yearly.

It definitely creates hype, but as someone who's not fond of GTAO or its so called "DLC", I haven't experienced any fresh content from them in a while.

I'd be fine with either a new Red Dead OR Midnight Club game. Either of those are two of the big R* franchises that haven't gotten a release in a while.

But yeah I'd prefer a new Red Dead. R* really is the best at making story based open world games that are also super fun.

I also agree with the online aspect. GTA4 and Red Dead had some great single player DLC. The online only DLC we've been getting with GTA5 is really boring. I want some quality content!

I absolutely agree. What ever happened to the benchmark standard R* used to set with DLC such as EFLC or Undead Nightmare? I'd barely call a few cars and weapons that cost millions of in-game dollars to encourage more "grinding" as DLC.

Rockstar announced GTA V in October 2011. That was the last time they announced a new game. That's over four years. I think they've had something in the works (maybe a sequel to RDR) and it turned out to be a pos so they had to scrap it. Now they have nothing. RDR came out nearly six years ago. It's sequel should have been announced by now.

Yes, this is the first time Rockstar holds for this long without an announcement of any sort. Truth be told, I find myself less interested in the medium as long as Rockstar has nothing to offer. Their announcements and products are the video games counterpart of TV shows like Breaking Bad and Fargo, two of which you have to wait for years, and sometimes decades, to get something of the same quality again.

They've to hurry and and get out of their cave so that I can justify my boxed PS4 console which has started collecting dust for half a year.

I've said it before they're like Johnny Tight Lips from The Simpsons.

"Johnny Tight Lips where'd they hit ya?"

"I ain't sayin' nuttin."

"Well what do I tell the doctor?"

"Tell him to go suck a lemon."

If you asked Rockstar whether they'd ever make another game again they'd refuse to comment.

I'm sure they're definitely working hard on a new title, whether it be another Red Dead or not.. I'm sure it'll impress us greatly. Just be patient :p

I NEED a sequel NOW.

Yeah, it's been 6 years and counting. It's enough time for a youth to grow white/grey hair given that it's a sign of getting older, which isn't necessarily true. If anything, Rockstar's silence is a sign of something extraordinary being cooked with gas. I can imagine a never-seen-before technical breakthrough, that's one step away from melting brains, being introduced/showed off in the next Red Dead. It's always going to be a combination of bringing the wild west to life through AI simulation, breathtaking visual effects, the next level of Euphoria-based animations, and maybe some real time witchery like terrain generators and its ilks. This time, the desert may stretch forever with an intelligent land generator that creates an always-new area on the fly.

Just imagine.

They know how successful it was so I'm really optimistic it is in the works. Amazing story and detail of RDR aside, I just can't wait to ride my horsey.
