I'd be surprised if they ever re-released it. And if they did then they'd have to bring it to PC as well as then there would be no excuse not to, especially with GTA V being in the top sellers on Steam for the longest...and the damn thing isn't even out yet.

There probably will be a brand new red dead but I don't know whether we can expect to see it too soon. I think Rockstars next release will be a brand new IP, it's been years since they've released one.

@ Mikey

As much as I'd love to see a brand new IP by R* - they kind of "have to" release a new Red Dead Title first though. You don't just leave a GOTY title hanging in the wind, if that's how you call it. The people want a new Red Dead title, and I'm pretty sure that the San Diego branch is all fire for making a new one. They're at it right now I bet. It will be there in the last quarter of 2015, or in the first half of 2016.

A new IP, I guess that's in the making aswell. I wonder whether SONY pays R* enough to make it a PS4-exclusive. haha, imagine that, would be funny (to me at least)

I think it would be cool if the next Red Dead game will feature two playable characters: a cowboy and a Native American. Not just because both Red and Shadow Wolf were my favourite characters in Red Dead Revolver, but especially because it would be great to see the Old West from these two different perspectives. Talking of perspectives, I also think Rockstar Games will give us the possibility to play the game in both Third and First Person just like in the Current-Gen and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto V as in their latest Asked & Answered they said that they "are excited by the response to our first effort at a First Person experience, but remain committed to Third Person games and may or may not use First Person as a camera option in the future. We do like to, whenever possible, give people options so they can play a game the way they like".

However, the Red Dead series is one of the best things that has ever happened in the history of video games, both Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption have been developed with a lot of passion, and I'm glad Rockstar Games bought the Red Dead Revolver project from Capcom in 2002.

Also - although I already posted it in "The Video Topic" - I want to share with y'all this amazing fan film based on Red Dead Redemption - "Red Dead Redemption: Seth's Gold - Fan Film":

Doing a new playthrough of Red Dead Redemption, it's funny how I know the whole road ahead, but I still enjoy taking my time and appreciating the little things. It's far superior to GTA V in story and atmosphere. It has that certain spark that gives it life, something that somewhere between RDR and V got lost in transition. I remember my disappointment with V when I found out we couldn't skin animals and sell the pelts/meat for cash. Is hunting a primary mechanic of GTA? No, but it was in Red Dead and I see no reason not to retool it for use in V. If it adds more things the player can do, why not add it?

^because that is not what criminals do in los angeles to get money, sorry?

whenever I started a new game of RDR I used to play for like 3 hours straight to get the deadly assassin outfit. after that missionwise I took it slowly, every playthrough. it's just too epic to rush through even on your 10th playthrough

Again, it's a niche enjoyment. Kind of like in San Andreas how you could haul freight for money. Do you think a guy like CJ would really take the time out of his day to be a trucker or deliver train cargo? No, of course not, it's just an optional way to make cash and, for those into it, do a little roleplay on the side.

yeah well, they could have put a bunch of stuff in there that doesn't really fit the tone of the game, just so people have stuff to do - even though there's already plenty to do if you ask me. Apparently R* didn't feel like that, understandably if you ask me

Don't get me wrong, I really liked the skinning feature in RDR, but I don't know if i'd actually use and like it in V. To me it just doesn't fit in there.

Can't wait for Red Dead 3. I hope they bring back Bill Elm & Woody Jackson.

Yeah, or they get Ennio Morricone to do it. Either way, or whoever gets to make the soundtrack in the end, the musical score and all that will be WIN

I know what you mean, but this game really could have used it. There isn't much to do in the way of making money in V aside from the main heist missions and taking a chance/exploiting the Stock Market. It would have been nice to give us mini-games or hunting and other things like in the older games to let us earn money that way too. V feels very awe inspiring from afar, but upclose the flaws are very apparent. That's not to say V is sh*t, but the point I'm making is that when you see how much could be done in past R* games compared to V, V has a noticeable lack of tasks to earn a little money.

Rockstar don't want the main mechanics of their own games to cross over in order to keep them seperate and unique to one another. That's why there are no horses in GTA V and why you cannot drive vehicles in Red Dead Redemption.

Oh man good for you Jeff, I sold my PS3 and all games I owned for it when I switched over to the PS4. I shed no tear for Heavy Rain, no teary eyes for GTA V or TLoU neither (maybe because I knew I'd soon have them back on PS4)....but I was and still am deeply saddened I can no longer just ride through the prairie and enjoy the scenery in RDR. That's why I look forward to the next title so much. That franchise seems to have an incredible "killing time doing basically nothing"-value right there. And no other game besides maybe GTA V can provide that really.

SO, R* San Diego, bring it on, PLEASE!

I'm just thinking about Jack here for a moment.

After he killed Edgar Ross, he knew he had become an outlaw - what his life turns into however, if my theory is correct, is pretty cool.

In L.A Noire you see that Marston hat in the trash...maybe when he published the book about his dad, he threw it out as a sign of letting go. V has that book that says J. Marston so I think it might make sense.

I personally believe L.A Noire and RDR are in the same universe. HD era and RDR, no, I don't think they are.

Can't wait for Red Dead 3. I hope they bring back Bill Elm & Woody Jackson.

Given Woody Jackson also helped compose the score for GTA V, I'd say that's a safe bet!

He did? Any idea which tracks?

Also, I can't remember - but does Red Dead Redemption have a surround sound option? And does the game actually take advantage of it/use it well?

No idea which tracks specifically, but he seems to be credited on the whole score in both the credits and the Score discs:

Did David Mogentale (Ron Jakowski in GTA V) play that miner bleeding out we meet at the start of the Treasure Hunters hideout? I was playing RDR this morning and just noticed they sound awfully similar to one another.

Is this just me or does anyone else hear it too?

I hear it. But Mogentale's IMDB doesn't list RDR. That's not to say it's not him. Roger Craig Smith (Ezio in AC, Chris in Res Evil) is in RDR (he's also in SRIV), so it might be. But, I imagine a speaking role such as that would be credited. Probably a coincidence. But i hear the similarities,

So there's that save editor thing for GTA V that allows you to change your character model/voice. Is there anything similar for Red Dead Redemption.

I always found it surprising that there wasn't a mod or save editor for RDR and/or Undead Nightmare that lets you

change back to John, post-game.

Or unlock all outfits from the start. It'd be great to work with Marshall Johnson with the marshall outfit. Also that the father/sun cheat doesn't do the opposite post game.

John's such a badass, Jack's such a bitch. He's got some character there, and there was potential to develop him post game via DLC, imo, but i do feel he's merely an auxiliary character, just there to give you someone to run around with after the game. Jack exists as a playable character only to avoid "END OF GAME" syndrome, like Saints Row 1 had iirc.

I just noticed, today, that when it's raining, and you have the camera facing forward/down, you get a few specks of water on the screen. But tip the camera to look at the sky, and the screen gets covered. That's a nice touch. If/when i play GTA V again, I'll have to see if that does the same.

Though a question: does anyone else here feel that night time is too bright? I tend to tweak the in game brightness controls to get night looking better (ended up getting it looking amazing once, with the nighttime world pretty much black but with the lighting in game (oil lamps etc) providing a warm, contrasting glow. But the problem then was day - it looked a little muted, a little too orange and dark, even in daytime. I also find that the white sand in Mexico tends to glow really brightly.

RDR's lighting is nice, but I do hope future games (any game, any genre) nail nighttime and daytime light. I shouldn't be able to see the leaves on trees and pricks on cactus from a hundred metres away at 2 AM.

So did R* do the voice recording twice for all side activities for John and Jack? That's a lot of work. I wonder if their speeches are the same, or they say different dialogues?

Jack had different dialogue for things. He even has dialogue for all the Stranger missions, and the characters involved have different dialogue in case you start them as John, and finish them as Jack.

NPCs will also greet you differently since you're not John. I can't remember if they'll still talk about John though.

I love how it's possible to find Jenny (iirc) or Sam as John, then, 3 years later, they're still sitting in the desert....

But yeah, Jack has a different slant on those stranger missions.

So I'm trying to play Red Dead Redemption again in the "correct" order. "Correct" meaning the order the missions were listed on the Social Club (before the page was taken down because of that GameSpy sh*t) and to avoid odd plot-holes, like characters referencing certain events or tasks that don't make sense given the context, which can be fixed by doing the missions in a certain order.

I found this list here, which seems to be what I'm looking for. If anyone knows of anything similar, or has a list of their own please let me know.

Missions:

Exodus in America
New Friends, Old Problems
Obstacles in Our Path
This is Armadillo, USA
Women and Cattle
Wild Horses, Tamed Passions
A Tempest Looms
Political Realities in Armadillo
Justice in Pike’s Basin
Old Swindler Blues
Spare the Rod, Spoil the Bandit
You Shall Not Give False Testimony, Except for Profit
Exhuming and Other Fine Hobbies
A Gentle Drive with Friends
Let the Dead Bury Their Dead
Liars, Cheats, and Other Proud Americans
Can a Swindler Change His Spots?
The Sport of Kings, and Liars
A Frenchman, a Welshman, and an Irishman
A Man is Born Unto Trouble
On Shaky’s Ground
The Burning
Hanging Bonnie MacFarlane
The Assault on Fort Mercer
We Shall Be Together in Paradise
Civilization, at Any Price
The Demon Drink
Empty Promises
Mexican Caesar
The Gunslinger’s Tragedy
Landon Ricketts Rides Again
Lucky in Love
The Mexican Wagon Train
My Sister’s Keeper
Must a Savior Die?
Cowards Die Many Times
The Great Mexican Train Robbery
Father Abraham
Captain De Santa’s Downfall
The Gates of El Presidio
An Appointed Time
Bear One Another’s Burdens
Great Men Are Not Always Wise
At Home with Dutch
For Purely Scientific Purposes
The Prodigal Son Returns (to Yale)
And You Will Know the Truth
And the Truth Will Set You Free
The Outlaw’s Return
By Sweat and Toil

6 years separated between the release of RD Revolver and RD Redemption. Can we expect another RDR game 6 years after the release of RD Redemption? leave that for Rockstar to answer, and let's see what they're up to for 2016.

I still can't believe it has been that long since Redemption was released. I think it still looks great even today.

As we know Red Dead Redemption was a risk to make, which developers don't take many of these days, so with the next game it will get more funding and resources. However, will it be as good as Redemption? Who knows only time will tell!
