Earlier today I got an email headlining the trailer next week, I believe.

I only own GUN for PS2, so I have reservations about life on the gaming reservation, but I see much to be gained from a Western setting game, like Oregon and GTA meet!! Hell yeah!

Right you are, Slamman! In fact, here's the notification I got (along with some other content announced for CTW and Midnight Club):

Can't wait - I hope it's good enough to tide me over until the next GTA.

God damn time zones f*cking beat me to it, but yeah, debut trailer next week. I'm feeling nostalgic feelings of when the first GTA IV trailer was supposed to debut, only to come on here and have the forums meltdown on me. I'm sure this won't be the case this time.

Waiting was the best part of gtaiv. Nothing beat getting home and checking the forums for any little tidbit of info. Anyway I can't wait for this I hope it isn't one of these skimpy ass trailers.

The game looks really good from the screenshots. The first one was a great game but wasn't as good as Gun. turn.gif

I do recall the reviews on the first one is again a flawed control system, much like aiming and targetting of GTA, however, Gun even had problems. I did buy the PC version and then the PS2 one. Still not sure what I did with it. I was not happy because it wasn't more like GTA, so hoping this is!!

That's the thing. Mafia didn't try to be like GTA. It took it's one direction on story based gameplay. It set up the game more like a Scorsese film, rather than how GTA can be compared to a Tarantino film. I had no problems with control system.

Some game studios are unabashed fans, as stated on Game Trailer's roundtable videos.

That's not bad, but I feel Rockstar themselves can take liberal theft. of Grand Theft!

I feel that just taking the mechanics of GTA to many varied premises is just great, and a fine way to appeal to many gamers

Except PC gamers apparently. I'm starting to hate R*.

EA should have bought take2. At least we would have every R* game on PC as well. Now they're turning into console whores. I don't have anything against consoles, but PC gamers should have the opportunity to play the same games as PS3 and 360 gamers. I hate exclusives.

I never doubted GTA4 on PC and it was released, I think it's a bit of a given, still.

I know it's been hard getting a machine up to par with it however. I think it is not a port from console but that it was a ground up on console, which means all the tech in place for the console, namely things like Euphoria that was third party, that was not an easy transition between. Just catering to Xbox and PS was a long drawn out development. I think most of the efforts paid off though. It's got little to gripe about in the end. I think this game is showing more of that promise

im looking foward to this, dunno what original was like tho

EPIC.

Thats what it was.

Im looking forward to this, aslong as rockstar dont f*ck it up.

My respect for them is slowly depleting.

I loved the first one, I must've played the story through like four times. Never thought they'd make a sequel, all the lukewarm reviews it got.

But now I'm so f*cking hyped for this. And freeroam? Holy sh*t. Gun tried to do the sandbox western, but the map was really small. That and it didn't have that RDR feel. Now that I'm a bit older and I've seen all the spaghetti westerns it was emulating, the game is way more poignant. Wish I still owned it. Anyone remember that mission where you were on the horse shooting people off the cattle train? f*cking epic.

Hell yeah.

That whole game was immense. I loved it, no free-roam was the only problem i had, but RDRedemption should make up for that.

Is the next game a sequel or a completely new storyline with new characters?

At the turn of the 20th century, when the chaotic badlands gave way to the expanding reach of government and the spread of the Industrial Age, a former outlaw, John Marston, is sent across the American frontier to help bring the rule of the law.

So yes. I also found this on youtube last night. It was an early trailer back in 2005:

They used it to showcase some early PS3 graphics and stuff.

Gun felt a bit like a very old school game at times, but I also found it more challenging then need be, not bad though.

Seems the game being in the skunk works since 05 would mean even longer then GTA4 perhaps? In the making? If so, it should be even more polished to the machines tech then GTA4 was, when released. The pre-trailer there is already stunning

Omnia sunt Communia

This is basically Grand Theft Auto: Old West, then? You sure as hell wont see me complaining! This looks great. I can't wait to play it.

Does anybody know if this will be continuing a story from the original game or not? Your answer would help me decide wether to buy this game.

I doubt it, it looks like this games takes place in an alternate universe (not unlike GTAIV).

Besides, RDR was pretty much summed up at the end.

The game looks amazing and it looks even better now that sh*tty filter has been removed. I can just imagine some awesome missions that could be in the game from looking at a bit of that gameplay inlove.gif.

Missed the first game as i didn't really know much about it so this is getting me hyped up.

Am I the only one who thinks the game looks like sh*t?

It's still early stages, don't lose your hopes.

This is probably the only game I'm looking forward to at the moment.

No, you're not. It looks lower resolution than the console versions of GTA4. Either that or the video was rendered using a deinterlacing filter of some kind. I say this because the pixels look twice as tall as they should; as if the even-numbered row pixels are stretched down to fill in the odd rows as well.

I have a feeling this is the result of a Rockstar f*ckup while rendering the video, as it is the same in HD from Rockstar's site (not just the youtube version from rockstarwatch that's been rounding the net). Yet the screen shots look smooth like they should at the resolution provided.

Anybody else notice this? I hope they didn't lower the resolution to below 720p.

Haven't played the first one; heard mixed opinions about it.

This one seems to have a lot of potential. Trailer was alright. Think I heard Bill Paxton towards the end.

The whole thing, free-roaming wild west and such, would be f*cking awesome, if done right. Hope R* don't f*ck over the PC version..

If they don't make a PC version I will never buy another R* game again for any system as long as I live! And that's a promise. I'm looking forward to this game more then Mafia 2, and Mafia 2 is confirmed on PC. I think I'm loosing faith in R*. They turned out to be console whores.

Lol, like Rockstar are going to lose any sleep.

The first GTA trailer didn't looks as good as some of the screenshots released, so i'm not really bothered about the graphics in this trailer, they will improve a lot i think.
