Cant wait to be a hero and some sort of mercenary when I replay the game. I pressume that poker will be a card game, which will be great.

I also cant wait to play with the physics like I did in GTA IV. The horse and various cliffs may become friends.

What do you guys think they'll show in the next video? This was only the introduction.

Anyone decided whether they'll be honourable or dishonourable?

I'm going the hero route myself.

Ditto. Definitely.

I just can't believe how excited the bits where he was riding out into the storm and riding slowly in the snow made me.

This is going to look stunning on my TV. inlove.gif

Woah! If I wasn't excited before I certainly am now. The Gameplay made me melt.

I think the next video will probably be more coy. Perhaps focussing on the enviroment. Giving us a demonstration of the ecosystem they've created.

Is the release date confirmed?

EDIT: Pap, it was the fottage from inside the bar which got me. haha, I just wanted to start a brawl. You're Scottish, I'm sure you understand. tounge.gif

Man, I usually play as good guy in games that allow such a choice but this is Wild West partner, so I'm gonna be a hardcore outlaw any chance I can get devil.gif

I think I'm gonna buy an HD TV just to experience this on a decent screen.

I'm not sure what it says about my Scottish heritage that I was more interested in the weather than bar fights... biggrin.gif

Anyway, for the next video I'd be happy with a look at the different weather conditions, or even just the day/night cycle.

Oh, and as confirmed as anything is when it comes to Rockstar. tounge.gif

Definitely going down the good guy route at first, i think going down the bad guy path and having people challenging you to a dual every time would get pretty annoying when you're trying to do other things.

Oh man, speaking of weather. I never thought a storm could look so stunning and realistic in a game. It adds to the atmosphere a lot. If R* doesn't release this for PC I'll die!

I really hope they add some kind of gun executions (Like the GTA IV ones) but being able to do them anytime instead of on certain characters.

Yeah, I'm not a very good shot so I'm gonna try to avoid a lot of antagonism. Of course, if you're famous enough to can settle disputes without violence.

I'm going to play by a very simple code: "There is good, and there is evil, and evil must be punished."

The lasso actually has physics. It has a set length and can break, so I doubt we can lasso a bear up.

At 3:00 we can see John run up and just shoot some guy execution style(he grabs him, pulls the gun to his chest and shoots) so I believe that's a yes.

I saw the first trailer and just thought its another typical western game but after seeing the new gameplay trailer it deffinetly caught my attention, there seems to be so much variety of things to do and see in this game. Il deffinetly keep an eye on this till release.

In one instance, Marston came across a man flagging him down for help. Upon getting off the horse, this jerk hopped on Marston's horse and took off riding. No worries. Marston just whistled and the horse bucked off the would-be thief. A quick shot later and the guy was dead on the ground as the horse came trotting back.

This has officially made this game for me. Loyal horses? That's ridiculously amazing.

It kind of makes you think, if they can do that with RDR, think of what they could do with the next GTA.

After all these revelations. This is officially taken the top spot on my most anticipated games. Splinter Cell is now a distant 2nd.

So have these videos been made exclusively for The Guardian? Well, for promotion, obviously. But doing it through a British newspaper's website is interesting.

That's pretty impressive, if so.

Transcript of the official gameplay video #1 to read it without watching (which is still cool):

[Narrator]

In the early years of the 20th century, the lawless old West was in its death rows as it was crushed by the twin forces of approaching governmental regulation and new technologies.

[Man speaking on phone]

What is it with these things? HELLO!

[Narrator]

Rockstar Games set out to capture the essence of the West in their first open-world game set in a rural environment.

Red Dead Redemption. The game attempts to foster an unique sense of organic gameplay and exploration, along with a powerful narrative and a huge cast of characters. One of the goals when designing the game was to create a seamless blend of action and discovery, where things can happen unexpectedly at any time.

In order to make the game's rural setting work, the artists and designers needed to build an environment that looks organic and believable and teems with life to ensure the player is presented with ever-changing opportunities for things to do and interact with, if they choose.

The world of Red Dead Redemption encompasses a massive territory with three unique regions, each made up of towns and outposts populated by hundreds of unique characters with their own personality characteristics and accents.

[Man with accent]

I never stole nothing, Sir. Never did. Not in all my life!

[Other man]

and eats the man, partner. And eats it!

[Narrator]

It is the story of partially reformed outlaw John Marston, on the trail tracking down the remaining members of his former gang. After a period searching in the U.S., he ventures south of the border into a volatile region of Mexico named Nuevo Pariso, a dusty border area, the kind of place revolutions {ferment}.

Careful attention was paid to the physics, from the muscles and movements of the horses, to the proprietary technology used for synthesising animations on the fly. The world is full of items, treasures and weapons, with a thriving economy.

Merchants will buy and sell. Treasure maps acquired days earlier will point you to unique geographic features. Sherrifs will post bounties, and you can ride out and track down outlaws. Besides getting a reward for helping, every action will affect John's Honor, and how he interacts with other characters.

Your Honor can quickly go up or down depending on how you choose to behave. Rescuing travelers from bandits, capturing escaped prisoners, choosing to take a criminal alive rather than killing them, will increase your Honor.

But you're also free to take the dishonorable side in any dispute. Kill the prisoners, help the bandits, steal some horses and your Honor will plummet. But, you might get a good deal wealthier in the process.

While in Mexico, Marshton soon comes across charismatic rebel soldier Abraham Rajas,

[Abraham?]

I'm going to be the next president of Mejico!

[Narrator]

a would-be Messiah who hopes to lead his people in a courageous and full-hardy insurection against the Mexican army. It's one of many spectacular battles in the game, requiring proficiency of pistol, sniper rifle and even cannon. That, and a chance to use the unique dead-eye targeting system.

The result is a massive title that crosses genres, and expands and innovates on the idea of the open-world game.

Red Dead Redemption from Rockstar Games.

Anyway, looking forward to RDR! smile.gif

Yeah man, gonna be a good guy the first time I play it but it will be hard to resist being a bad guy - but that is all apart of the fun. icon14.gif

GTAvanja: Yeah the rain and stormy weather looks great. I've a feeling that this game is gonna be just beautiful riding around by horse, looking at the scenery etc. It's a nice stark contrast to the city of Liberty.

People like myself missing country and desert roads of San Andreas will have their appetite looked after for while with this one. icon14.gif

And Mafia 2 comes after SCC, which is already regarded as a disappointment to thousands of Splinter Cell fans (but I'm looking forward to it myself)?
